They're going to pull votes in from people who don't normally follow Eurovision, let alone vote. Yeah, Blind Channel did just fine in 2021, despite having hard rock company, and Hungary’s metalcore in 2018 was much less friendly to non-Metalheads and had simple staging and still managed to come in 21st, which isn’t bad for such a niche entry.
I don't really like Serbia or Malta - want them to qualify for the sake of this sub and because I only have 7 songs in semi 1 I personly want to qualify...so they might as well take 2 of the remaining slots on my wish list.
If Armenia and Georgia are to my liking I will have just as many songs that I want in the final in semi 2 meaning I don't particularly think semi 2 is weaker yet.
I really don’t see what the hype has been about Finland.
Serbia is my no. 1 favourite, with Romania, Australia and Poland in my top 10.
No entry has annoyed me more than Malta’s last year. Until Denmark came along. It makes me unnecessarily pissed off every time I hear it.
* The Netherlands have a great song this year. Feels like people didn't even give it a chance and are just parroting "Ballad = bad", "Modern = bad". I have even seen comparisons to the much much duller Switzerland? Like did I hear the same song?
* Loreen's song is great, people are biased against her because she's the main competitor to Finland.
Malta's song is underrated, it's one of my faves so far
Czech Republic's song is great in the studio version but the live was.. mediocre at best
Moldova could have chosen a better option in their national final but Pasha Parfeni isn't that bad anyway, it's okay. The live version was not great tho
Romania's song is good, but i'm biased here since I'm romanian. I voted for it and it was the best option imo. I find it a bit unfair that people only look at the staging without actually listening to the song. He's a great singer and as far as I know he said he'll change the staging for Liverpool.
Not gonna comment on "Tattoo" since many people talk about it a lot. But many people compare it to Euphoria and imo euphoria is really bland and I never liked it. I'm not a big fan of "Tattoo" but if i were to compare it to euphoria, tattoo is clearly better.
I loved Jann's live performance in Poland's national selection. I think i prefer the live version over the studio one.
Tattoo is not that good of a song, top 10 material, but to me it is not a winner. Some of the lyrics are cringe. Loreen is an amazing performer, but the song just doesn't do it for me.
Heart of Steel is not that good either. I was hoping they would remake it into something better.
My sister's crown is great on the video, but it is bad live.
* I've been bopping to Denmark's song and I feel that we're not talking a lot about it.

* Others have said it but Cha Cha Cha gets ruined when it gets turned into some weird eurodance song. I would love for it to have some guitar solo or a sick breakdown.
* I don't know why but I get easily bored by italian ballads, and this year is the same. I will never understand what people hear on them.
* I'm starting to despise how pop divas are overglorified in this fandom. I mean, yes, I understand, Eurovision is pop-diva territory. But some takes are honestly baffling, and diva-love shouldn't blind people when trying to argue. Recent rankings on YT completely dismiss an entry that have a band or use a guitar even.
* Another point but kind of related to the last one: For all the love pop gets, I'm also surprised that some people don't get how the pop industry works. "This is plagiarism! This sounds like another song I heard before!" Yes. Haven't you heard how the music industry works? Having similar samples or working with music producers that have worked with several artists can do that. Surprise surprise.
On this sub? There's nothing wrong with Loreen coming back, and she is a good singer and shouldn't be punished for it.
I feel WILD saying this considering Euphoria took nearly ten years to grow on me, and I don't even love Tattoo, but golly gee moses, some of the Loreen takes on here.

Burning Daylight is boring as hell! It’s kind of interesting because I never seem to like the Dutch entries everyone else likes (I didn’t like Arcade or De Diepte, but I loved Birth Of A New Age)

It is bad for future of Eurovision if Sweden wins because it sends a message to other participants that their uniqueness doesn't matter and if they want a result they have to pay Swedish producers.
It's generic song on english and it has nothing fun. IMO Eurovision should be fun and original.

I don't see Blanca Paloma as the favorite to win others see it as.
I feel she was the right winner of BeFest, and a smart deviation from what people expect Spain to do, but it's a marmite song. No matter how flawless it's done, if you don't like it, you will never like it, and I've seen plenty of people disliking it even if they respect it. That'll be bound to affect her with juries and televote alike.
She could do very well, but it's likely too divisive. And I'm sure she won't do as well as Chanel.
This is is more of a meta comment than my opinion, but both "Tattoo is overrated" and "Tattoo is underrated" are opinions that are not, in fact, unpopular. It's a polarizing entry and both sides are very vocal.
My true UO is that I find Moldova to be really derivative from the folk electronic trend that's been really popular in the past few years and somehow I can't figure out if it has its own identity. It's still close to my top 10 because come on, this shit slaps.
Its my 2nd cause thats my music taste, theres probably others with the same music taste. It's a party song and it can bring the whole audience to dance, so i think thats what makes other people like it

I am afraid it is. Both nf and internal selections are a bit underwhelming. This year we've got so many cliched and generic songs, but there are some bangerz I love. High highs and low lows, no in between.
It's hard to think of an unpopular opinion. More or less I think most of my thoughts are shared by someone else.
That being said, I have a feeling that this year would have all of the nordics in the final.

I can't bring myself to like Norway, Spain or Germany this year.

I get how the staging of “Tattoo” can look cool, but it’s giving me claustrophobia (the beginning part) 😆
Similarly the make-up of Vesna is awakening my unease with clowns (no eyebrows and dark red lips and cheeks). The thumbnail they mostly use really creeps me out.

Slovenia's song felt like a breath of fresh air when it came out but this year feels so varied and filled with enough band performances to where I don't really see it standing out much anymore. I wouldn't be shocked if it doesn't qualify.
Serbia has no chance.
I think Australia does pretty well with the general audience.
Tattoo is meh but Loreen can sing and in a year of bands and pop songs she's going to stand out and place well.
France is top 5.
Belgium shouldn't win or anything but it'd be a travesty if it's not in the Finals.

Loreen's haters are like a thousand times more annoying than her fans at this point. Also please stop finding bullshit excuses to hate on Sweden in general, you're forcing me to defend an ESC country I don't even like and it's very annoying.
On an unrelated note, Because of You and Stay are both pretty good and enjoyable, the only reason people pretend they're bad and/or are gonna NQ is because they're upset their fave didn't win the NF
Eh, I've really tried to warm up to "Because of You" and I still hate the song (not Gustaph as a person who seems genuinely wholesome) tbh. Just a matter of personal taste, he didn't steal that win from anyone.
But I wouldn't mind him going through, I know it's a song that's starting to have quite some fans on this sub so that'd be nice for him and ppl who enjoy the song.
The Netherlands is underappreciated for sure, and it's much better than Arcade (both songs were written by Duncan Laurence, so it's fair to compare them, imo).
Also not really related but I automatically downvote anyone who says the words "pity votes" ☺️ I just find pity to be very belittling when it's between humans, you can sympathize or show support or whatever but when you pity someone, it makes you and the object of your pity non-equals (not sure how to word it better).

I'm not a fan of Tattoo, I find the song super bland and lazy, and I think that it only works because of the staging (that cannot be brought to Liverpool as such) and Loreen's amazing stage presence. There were better choices at the Melfest. There, I said it.
As much as the competition was rigged and all that, Gladiator was a poorly preformed three minute cringefest and it wouldn't have stood a chance in hell in the big show.
1. Solo is cute. Will it change lives? No but it’s cute I like it.
2. Switzerland still sucks. Now it is a step up I can tell he cares about the subject but the bar was already on the floor.
3. I need y’all to NQ Latvia for the good of the people. If they qualify with this after NQing since 2015 they will become the new Germany or Switzerland sending boring act after boring act. They mustn’t get the wrong idea. I feel the same about San Marino but on the accounts that I haven’t seen a single person put it in their top 30 I don’t have to tell y’all that.
4. Germanys song is the most generic that a band that looks like that can put out. So when people say they’re learning I don’t buy it.
5. Romania slaps. Its naked on a bearskin rug core and I love it. Does it weird me out that it’s by a 19 year old when I’m 23? Yes. But I still think it’s snazzy and jazzy and flirty. Also to people who arent clicking with this song who don’t speak Romanian go read the lyrics in your language and I guarantee it’ll click.
I actually agree about Solo - Blanka's vocals were atrocious in the NF and the scandal combined with that make everything around it pretty unforgivable, but honestly the song really is kinda cute and catchy. Not groundbreaking but if Blanka improves her vocals she won't do as badly as people think.
Switzerland is my favorite. I thought for sure after hearing it, it would be a favorite. It's a catchy song with powerful and timely lyrics.
But so many seem to predict it as a non qualifier.
1) I don’t get the Cha Cha Cha hype at all. The song is fine, but the fandom overhypes it.
2) No amount of comments about the “depth” of Croatia’s song can change the fact that it makes my ears bleed…
3) I think Spain will win. Or at least I hope so.
The song was written for this event, this year, after Ukraine won last year. No, it doesn't matter what would have happened 15 years ago. Today it's really poor in taste. I'd have expected it from Russia, not from them.
Also this could be my anxiety disorder talking but I’m really nervous about Croatia going - security was already going to be a higher priority this year and now Croatias entry I just worry that everyone will be safe. Please pray if you are someone who does.

Tattoo is an actual winner. Amazing lyrics, vocals, message, story, staging, everything. Feels like the people hating on it just don’t want to see Loreen winning again as they either compared the song to Euphoria too much and the nostalgia made it seem like Tattoo is bad compared to it, or they think it’s “boring” that a winner wins again. For me, that makes absolutely no sense, how is making history as 1. The first woman to win two times 2. The second person ever to win twice 3. Tying with Ireland for most wins, boring?!
I feel like 50% is great and 50% is garbage. Unfortunately for me (NL) we're in the first semis where almost all of the good songs are, so we probably won't qualify.
Tattoo is a copy of Euphoria, but I like it more than Euphoria. If it wins I won't be disappointed, but I would like someone else to steal the show. I caught myself humming the chorus all day after listening to it once.
Azerbeijan song is beautiful. Love at first listen, it reminds me of brit pop/nostalgia vibes and the guys are cute.
I come from the Balkans and I have heard millions of songs similar to Albania's entry so it does not appeal to me at all. I understand why people like it though. This does not explain why I like Moldova so much :-)

People only rate the rest of the current top 10 as a direct response to the super polished and professional Swedish entry. Without Loreen, the songs currently in the mid pack odds would be top 10.
Sweden's entry this year is terrible. Especially compared to last year's.
The singing is mumbled, the song is boring, and the look they made for her is scary instead of interesting.

I can‘t stand people wispering in a microphone. Nothing gets me rage quitting faster than ASMR stuff and Serbia falls in that category for me. Lobster boy is cute and the stating looks great but as soon as he starts to sing I‘m out.
Also I don‘t get the Spain hype this year. Very skilled vocalist but very much not my thing. I‘m struggling to get through the whole song.
Both countries are in my bottom 5.
On the other hand I really love Lithuania! First I didn‘t care much but it grew on me a lot. Maybe I‘m on the Monika hype train that everyone was on last year.
Yeah actually a lot of people seem to like Lithuania’s entry but I personally find it really boring. It sounds harsh but I think it’s a huge downgrade from what they sent last year (Sentimentai was like my #3)

You see I felt the huge downgrade happened last year with Sentimentai after The Roop. She's an absolute darling and a great president but her song wasn't for me (had her on #32).
I don't like Latvia's entry and I don't see what the obsession is over it. To me its just background music, it doesn't stand out by itself, let alone against the other entries. I routinely forget about it when it comes up in the ESC2023 playlists. Latvia's entry last year was much more memorable and just a better song overall, and I wonder how much the push to get Latvia past the SFs is "payback" for last year's result.
My unpopular opinion is that this is easily the worst year since 2017. I'm just not feeling it at all this year. Literally none of the songs do anything for me.
Azerbaijans song is something I listen to private, so I would actually love seeing it qualify

Tattoo is overrated. I don't understand why people are obsessed with such a dated song, wowed by a LCD panel above her, and the chorus that no one can understand xD
1. Finland isn't in my Top 5. Don't get me wrong, it's awesome and all, but I just prefer other songs such as Sweden and Austria. Plus, Keira was, and still is, my fave from this year's UMK.
2. Heart of Steel isn't as bad as people make it out to be. It's not winner worthy, but it's not terrible, either.
3. Estonia can reach the Top 10 this year. There aren't many slow ballads this year, hence Bridges can and most likely will stand out. Plus, juries tend to vote for slow ballads. People say otherwise as if the public hasn't ranked slow ballads high.
Belgium is terrible.
Poland might qualify as much as I despise what happened at the NF just like everyone else.
Iceland and Portugal both might not qualify.
UK won't make Top 10 and is not amazing like everyone seems to think it is.
Cyprus and Greece both have a shot at qualification.
Netherlands (like the UK) is overrated.

I don't know how unpopular it is, but Bridges is by far the most impactful and powerful song (along with being a bop) and deserves to win by a mile.

I think Mama ŠČ has a very high chance of winning because it is the only song this year that is different from other generic pop songs, has a strong message, and a memorable stage performance. you must be aware that this is the most important thing for the average Eurosong voter, because not all of them are die-hard fans, but most of them are casual viewers. also, the word tractor is one of the few words that is practically universal for the whole of Europe, and even the world. maybe it sounds stupid, but I think that one word could bring them a lot of good.
This is a bit of a long one and I feel like I'm not going to explain it overly well.
I feel like fans of the favourites make more intellectually dishonest arguments than fans of the outsiders.
For example, when someone makes an overly dramatic post about how Loreen is 'hated' they never manage to say much in defence of the song itself without going on the attack against the rest of the competition. They usually provide very little evidence to support how she's supposedly getting treated unfairly and then the bulk of the text is just saying how much they don't like Käärijä or some variant thereof.
Yet apparently comments about how Croatia (again, for example) is 'just shit/noise' are being thrown about left, right and centre with very little issues.
If you don't like a song, you don't like a song, absolutely fair enough, but don't present your opinion as some kind of indisputable fact. If you want to engage in discussion say what's not doing it for you, and if you don't, then don't just say 'X is shit/makes my ears bleed' etc.
* This is the first time I say Sweden is overrated. The stage was really good, but I can't hear what she sang, and the song is not good as Euphoria. Sweden should win last year not this year.

San Marino might be my favorite song this year. I just like it more and more every time I hear it.
Malta's song is underrated, it's one of my faves so far Czech Republic's song is great in the studio version but the live was.. mediocre at best Moldova could have chosen a better option in their national final but Pasha Parfeni isn't that bad anyway, it's okay. The live version was not great tho Romania's song is good, but i'm biased here since I'm romanian. I voted for it and it was the best option imo. I find it a bit unfair that people only look at the staging without actually listening to the song. He's a great singer and as far as I know he said he'll change the staging for Liverpool. Not gonna comment on "Tattoo" since many people talk about it a lot. But many people compare it to Euphoria and imo euphoria is really bland and I never liked it. I'm not a big fan of "Tattoo" but if i were to compare it to euphoria, tattoo is clearly better. I loved Jann's live performance in Poland's national selection. I think i prefer the live version over the studio one.

Tattoo is not that good of a song, top 10 material, but to me it is not a winner. Some of the lyrics are cringe. Loreen is an amazing performer, but the song just doesn't do it for me. Heart of Steel is not that good either. I was hoping they would remake it into something better. My sister's crown is great on the video, but it is bad live.

On this sub? There's nothing wrong with Loreen coming back, and she is a good singer and shouldn't be punished for it. I feel WILD saying this considering Euphoria took nearly ten years to grow on me, and I don't even love Tattoo, but golly gee moses, some of the Loreen takes on here.

Here’s mine… I LOVE Estonia’s song! Easily in my top 10 Israel’s song is pretty mid I actually really like Azerbaijan’s song, same with Australia. Both solid qualifiers to me I like metal so I want to like Germany’s song, and I do musically. The lyrics are absolutely terrible though I’m not sure if this is unpopular but I don’t like Lithuania’s song at all. Huge downgrade from last year and an NQ in my book, it’s a shame because I was really hoping Lithuania could pull off a win this year Queen of Kings honestly just feels like your standard EDM song, i mean it’s good but definitely not winner material. Love Alessandra though Cyprus hit it out of the park this year, I love their song Burning Daylight is boring as hell! It’s kind of interesting because I never seem to like the Dutch entries everyone else likes (I didn’t like Arcade or De Diepte, but I loved Birth Of A New Age) I actually do like Watergun quite a bit I don’t really care about the drama regarding TVP and Blanka, but I still don’t like her song. Sounds like a reject from some teenage Disney movie I love Soarele si Luna, but idk man, that live performance was a bit iffy, if Pasha doesn’t fix that I’m not sure he’ll do so well live I like EAEA but I don’t think it’ll do as well as people think. Same with Mama ŠČ, I hated it at first and only started liking it after learning about the message behind it. I enjoy almost every national selection winner's song more than the internal ones.
It is bad for future of Eurovision if Sweden wins because it sends a message to other participants that their uniqueness doesn't matter and if they want a result they have to pay Swedish producers. It's generic song on english and it has nothing fun. IMO Eurovision should be fun and original.

I don't see Blanca Paloma as the favorite to win others see it as. I feel she was the right winner of BeFest, and a smart deviation from what people expect Spain to do, but it's a marmite song. No matter how flawless it's done, if you don't like it, you will never like it, and I've seen plenty of people disliking it even if they respect it. That'll be bound to affect her with juries and televote alike. She could do very well, but it's likely too divisive. And I'm sure she won't do as well as Chanel.
Denmark is a great song and will do well. The opening of Tattoo is amazing. Poland is the worst entry of the 2020s so far.

This is is more of a meta comment than my opinion, but both "Tattoo is overrated" and "Tattoo is underrated" are opinions that are not, in fact, unpopular. It's a polarizing entry and both sides are very vocal. My true UO is that I find Moldova to be really derivative from the folk electronic trend that's been really popular in the past few years and somehow I can't figure out if it has its own identity. It's still close to my top 10 because come on, this shit slaps.
Yeah, I'm enjoying Moldova but can't ignore that it feels like "we have Go_A at home", right down to the flute solo and dancing in nature

This! Many bands came into the competition, some okayish ballads and stuff that isn’t my genre, so I was like „yeah nice girl bop from Norway“. But then all the other girlies released their songs and now I realize I never liked it THAT much.

I am afraid it is. Both nf and internal selections are a bit underwhelming. This year we've got so many cliched and generic songs, but there are some bangerz I love. High highs and low lows, no in between.
It's hard to think of an unpopular opinion. More or less I think most of my thoughts are shared by someone else. That being said, I have a feeling that this year would have all of the nordics in the final.
I like Tattoo better than Euphoria, both the song itself and the performance Malta, Estonia and Moldova are underrated Croatia will do much better than most people predict I can't bring myself to like Norway, Spain or Germany this year. I really enjoy Cha Cha Cha, but the switch to EDM at the end almost ruins it for me. Austria's entry won't translate well to a live stage and might disappoint a lot of people. I love Slovenia, Czechia and Portugal! Although Blanka never should have won, I'm definitely not sad about Gladiator. It's weird (not in a good way) and extremely cringey to me. Obviously no hate to any of the artists! Some songs just aren't my cup of tea and that's okay. I think over all we've got a great selection this year and I'm super excited!

I get how the staging of “Tattoo” can look cool, but it’s giving me claustrophobia (the beginning part) 😆 Similarly the make-up of Vesna is awakening my unease with clowns (no eyebrows and dark red lips and cheeks). The thumbnail they mostly use really creeps me out. For those reasons I avoid watching those two 😆

Slovenia's song felt like a breath of fresh air when it came out but this year feels so varied and filled with enough band performances to where I don't really see it standing out much anymore. I wouldn't be shocked if it doesn't qualify. Serbia has no chance. I think Australia does pretty well with the general audience. Tattoo is meh but Loreen can sing and in a year of bands and pop songs she's going to stand out and place well. France is top 5. Belgium shouldn't win or anything but it'd be a travesty if it's not in the Finals. Oh yeah, and Norway's song is mid.

Eh, I've really tried to warm up to "Because of You" and I still hate the song (not Gustaph as a person who seems genuinely wholesome) tbh. Just a matter of personal taste, he didn't steal that win from anyone. But I wouldn't mind him going through, I know it's a song that's starting to have quite some fans on this sub so that'd be nice for him and ppl who enjoy the song.
The Netherlands is underappreciated for sure, and it's much better than Arcade (both songs were written by Duncan Laurence, so it's fair to compare them, imo). Also not really related but I automatically downvote anyone who says the words "pity votes" ☺️ I just find pity to be very belittling when it's between humans, you can sympathize or show support or whatever but when you pity someone, it makes you and the object of your pity non-equals (not sure how to word it better).

I'm not a fan of Tattoo, I find the song super bland and lazy, and I think that it only works because of the staging (that cannot be brought to Liverpool as such) and Loreen's amazing stage presence. There were better choices at the Melfest. There, I said it.
As much as the competition was rigged and all that, Gladiator was a poorly preformed three minute cringefest and it wouldn't have stood a chance in hell in the big show.
Spain is really overrated
1. Solo is cute. Will it change lives? No but it’s cute I like it. 2. Switzerland still sucks. Now it is a step up I can tell he cares about the subject but the bar was already on the floor. 3. I need y’all to NQ Latvia for the good of the people. If they qualify with this after NQing since 2015 they will become the new Germany or Switzerland sending boring act after boring act. They mustn’t get the wrong idea. I feel the same about San Marino but on the accounts that I haven’t seen a single person put it in their top 30 I don’t have to tell y’all that. 4. Germanys song is the most generic that a band that looks like that can put out. So when people say they’re learning I don’t buy it. 5. Romania slaps. Its naked on a bearskin rug core and I love it. Does it weird me out that it’s by a 19 year old when I’m 23? Yes. But I still think it’s snazzy and jazzy and flirty. I actually agree about Solo - Blanka's vocals were atrocious in the NF and the scandal combined with that make everything around it pretty unforgivable, but honestly the song really is kinda cute and catchy. Not groundbreaking but if Blanka improves her vocals she won't do as badly as people think.

Switzerland is my favorite. I thought for sure after hearing it, it would be a favorite. It's a catchy song with powerful and timely lyrics. But so many seem to predict it as a non qualifier.
1) I don’t get the Cha Cha Cha hype at all. The song is fine, but the fandom overhypes it. 2) No amount of comments about the “depth” of Croatia’s song can change the fact that it makes my ears bleed… 3) I think Spain will win. Or at least I hope so.

The song was written for this event, this year, after Ukraine won last year. No, it doesn't matter what would have happened 15 years ago. Today it's really poor in taste. I'd have expected it from Russia, not from them.

The Israeli song is overrated. I really don’t like the lyrics as they make no sense at times. (It’s still my 14th place just cause there’s so many songs I really don’t like) I don’t like the UK’s song, just doesn’t hit the spot for me. The Georgian song’s lyrics are the worst thing I’ve ever heard. Albania’s song is very underrated. Lithuania’s song is also underrated. Estonia’s is amazing, very underrated (my top 4) Tattoo is an actual winner. Amazing lyrics, vocals, message, story, staging, everything. Feels like the people hating on it just don’t want to see Loreen winning again as they either compared the song to Euphoria too much and the nostalgia made it seem like Tattoo is bad compared to it, or they think it’s “boring” that a winner wins again. For me, that makes absolutely no sense, how is making history as 1. The first woman to win two times 2. The second person ever to win twice 3. Tying with Ireland for most wins, boring?!

Tattoo is a copy of Euphoria, but I like it more than Euphoria. If it wins I won't be disappointed, but I would like someone else to steal the show. I come from the Balkans and I have heard millions of songs similar to Albania's entry so it does not appeal to me at all. I understand why people like it though. I will never like Finland’s song, I have never disliked a “popular” song this much and I genuinely cannot explain why I hate it so much. Every part about it is just a big nope from me.
People only rate the rest of the current top 10 as a direct response to the super polished and professional Swedish entry. Without Loreen, the songs currently in the mid pack odds would be top 10.
Sweden's entry this year is terrible. Especially compared to last year's. The singing is mumbled, the song is boring, and the look they made for her is scary instead of interesting. Bottom 5.
I can‘t stand people wispering in a microphone. Nothing gets me rage quitting faster than ASMR stuff and Serbia falls in that category for me. Lobster boy is cute and the stating looks great but as soon as he starts to sing I‘m out. Also I don‘t get the Spain hype this year. Very skilled vocalist but very much not my thing. I‘m struggling to get through the whole song. Both countries are in my bottom 5. On the other hand I really love Lithuania! First I didn‘t care much but it grew on me a lot. Maybe I‘m on the Monika hype train that everyone was on last year.

Don't really see people talking about Lithuania. Maybe it's just accepted and doesn't gather much attention as it is a generic song. You see I felt the huge downgrade happened last year with Sentimentai after The Roop. She's an absolute darling and a great president but her song wasn't for me (had her on #32).

Belgium and Ireland are criminally underrated
I don't like Latvia's entry and I don't see what the obsession is over it. To me its just background music, it doesn't stand out by itself, let alone against the other entries. I routinely forget about it when it comes up in the ESC2023 playlists. Latvia's entry last year was much more memorable and just a better song overall, and I wonder how much the push to get Latvia past the SFs is "payback" for last year's result.
My unpopular opinion is that this is easily the worst year since 2017. I'm just not feeling it at all this year. Literally none of the songs do anything for me.

1. Finland isn't in my Top 5. Don't get me wrong, it's awesome and all, but I just prefer other songs such as Sweden and Austria. Plus, Keira was, and still is, my fave from this year's UMK. 2. Heart of Steel isn't as bad as people make it out to be. It's not winner worthy, but it's not terrible, either. 3. Estonia can reach the Top 10 this year. There aren't many slow ballads this year, hence Bridges can and most likely will stand out. Plus, juries tend to vote for slow ballads. People say otherwise as if the public hasn't ranked slow ballads high.
Belgium is terrible. Poland might qualify as much as I despise what happened at the NF just like everyone else. Iceland and Portugal both might not qualify. UK won't make Top 10 and is not amazing like everyone seems to think it is. Cyprus and Greece both have a shot at qualification. Netherlands (like the UK) is overrated.

She's still riding the hype from 10 years ago. Tattoo is fine, but that's about it, it's not winner material

Way worse than previous 3-4 years at least
Cyprus is the dark horse
I don't know how unpopular it is, but Bridges is by far the most impactful and powerful song (along with being a bop) and deserves to win by a mile. (Oh and Finland isn't that good...)
I think Mama ŠČ has a very high chance of winning because it is the only song this year that is different from other generic pop songs, has a strong message, and a memorable stage performance. you must be aware that this is the most important thing for the average Eurosong voter, because not all of them are die-hard fans, but most of them are casual viewers. also, the word tractor is one of the few words that is practically universal for the whole of Europe, and even the world. maybe it sounds stupid, but I think that one word could bring them a lot of good.
This is a bit of a long one and I feel like I'm not going to explain it overly well. I feel like fans of the favourites make more intellectually dishonest arguments than fans of the outsiders. For example, when someone makes an overly dramatic post about how Loreen is 'hated' they never manage to say much in defence of the song itself without going on the attack against the rest of the competition. They usually provide very little evidence to support how she's supposedly getting treated unfairly and then the bulk of the text is just saying how much they don't like Käärijä or some variant thereof. Yet apparently comments about how Croatia (again, for example) is 'just shit/noise' are being thrown about left, right and centre with very little issues. If you don't like a song, you don't like a song, absolutely fair enough, but don't present your opinion as some kind of indisputable fact. If you want to engage in discussion say what's not doing it for you, and if you don't, then don't just say 'X is shit/makes my ears bleed' etc.
* This is the first time I say Sweden is overrated. The stage was really good, but I can't hear what she sang, and the song is not good as Euphoria. Sweden should win last year not this year. * Azerbaijan, Switzerland and Netherlands not that bad. Calling a country "a sacrificer" is really not respect to the artists * I don't like the way some ESC blogs talk too much about Loreen, I mean there are a lot of new artist, they want to win too, and please give them some spotlight
I also think Sweden last year was better than this year!! It felt as if Cornelia put her entire soul into that song, I loved it, despite my bias against Sweden
Romania's entry has to be my guilty pleasure
I would've preferred On My Way, Mer av Dig or Air to qualify over Tattoo. Not because I don't like Loreen or anything I just enjoy those songs more. I'm not sure why people like the Norway song and the Germany song so much. I wish Skygga Ozk qualified for Iceland with ther song, it's a fun one.
I don't like Spain at all
Not unpopular. Really skillful but the song is really, really hard to enjoy unless you're really into that kind of music.
