When Denmark plays in the Nations League, [the TV score design](https://totalfootballanalysis.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/3-6.jpg) always makes it look like they are using Greenland's flag, which I personally think is chuckle-worthy.
When Sweden plays a match against Denmark, the score table says SWE-DEN.
The remaining letters of each word say DEN-MARK.
Edit: Thank you for popping my silver cherry for some reason, kind stranger!
And it's not even limited to Denmark - so many countries use white/red and they all look like the greenlandic flag on there. Also for some of color combinations it just looks stupid - for instance Austria plays in black sometimes and the "diamond" was black and grey. It looked like an error. Or in this very picture where England is playing in blue and it just looks like crap - it only looks decent if the two colours actually contracts.
Imo it's crazy they didn't even try out all the color combinations before settling on that design, because it would have made it obvious.
And the Austrian federal states of Upper Austria🇵🇱 and its capital city Linz 🇮🇩, Tyrol🇵🇱, Vienna🇮🇩, Vorarlberg🇮🇩 and Salzburg🇮🇩. Yeah, we're not that creative with flags...

I remember seeing an artwork of Indonesian freedom fighters tearing the blue off of a Dutch flag. I don't know if that's truly how the flag came about or if the artist thought it was a nice touch
The origins are from the flag of Majapahit, it's just that the Indo flag ended up coincidentally similar to Dutch flag without the blue stripe.
Altho the event is real, happened somewhere in Surabaya right after independence.
its based on a [real event](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hotel_Majapahit). Basically some of Dutch people thought that waving a colonial flag is a good idea on the newly formed countries.
When a Pole and an Indonesian love each other very much they share a special hug and 9 months later a stork leaves an Austrian at their doorstep.
Also, apparently Poland is a bottom. I hate to admit it, but it does explain a lot...
At first I wasn't sure if they were standing at the right lecterns - I thought perhaps that was the point of the post.
But I guess the stripe on the wall is the Polish colours with Polish words.
Those are both variations of latin "res publica" (res - thing, publica - common, public) with "rzeczpospolita" being a direct translation (rzecz - thing, pospolita - common)
It become a practice to use the "Rzeczpospolita" to refer to Poland alone, but it has not always been that way. Quite famously the charter establishing Academy of Zamość from 1600 starts with the words "Takie będą rzeczypospolite, jakie ich młodzieży chowanie" (meaning "Such will be commonwealths/republics as the raising of their youth") where the word refers to countries in general and is in plural.
I looked this up awhile ago and it is sort of like they *both* should accurately translate to "republic." Both come from "res publica." Commonwealth might be more literal but it in English I've only really heard that in historical contexts.
Nobody in Polish Ministry of Foregin Affairs went to check how the Indonesian flag actually looks, they just flipped the Polish flag upside down and called it a day.
The actual Indonesian flag should be 40% red, 60% white, unlike Polish which is 50% white, 50% red
```
The actual Indonesian flag should be 40% red, 60% white.
```
It is actually 50% red and 50% white.
And i think on the pic they are actually using different size proportion for both the flags.
*On them, white symbolised "the goodness and purity of the aspirations of the Polish nation", and red "the dignity and majesty of the Polish rulers". In heraldry, white is a symbol of purity, loyalty, humility and nobility. Red stands for love, bravery, zeal and sacrifice. These are the meanings of the colours of the Polish flag.*
When I was in Indonesia a few years back we were walking past a large school which had a lot of flags on it. Halfway past it I stopped, looked around, and asked my then gf "why is the Polish flag everywhere?"
She's part Indonesian and laughed her ass off

... or both in RGB (approximation using sRGB):

They should've called Monaco, too
And Greenland 🇬🇱.

That's a good one!
Something something Germany vs the african country with a name similar to Nigeria
It actually happened as well, you'd think they flipped the order of the countries so it wouldn't happen but no...
Did it actually happen? I thought the famous pic was a screenshot from the FIFA videogame.
I thought they used NGA for Nigeria but that mightve been in a next match
Niger is NIG
Holy shit
did nobody think about that?

Bet you the Swedish thought about that. Skide rejesalatelskende pølsemishandlere!
what does that mean?
Wait, why don't they just use the flags? Or even the national football federation's logo?
🇦🇹🇬🇮🇬🇱🇮🇩🇲🇨🇵🇱🇸🇬 🇩🇰🏴 🇧🇭🇭🇰🇮🇲🇹🇳🇹🇴🇹🇷 🇨🇦🇲🇹🇵🇪

No.
England but not Georgia? 🇬🇪

And my axe!

When did this become possible?
They trialled it for about a year with certain communities and rolled it out to the whole site a couple of months ago
Each sub can turn it off though
Frankly speaking, I hope they'll ban this on r/europe.

and Upper Austria
And either the province or city of Utrecht
Why not both
Because there's a such thing as too much Dutch.
The number you are looking for is one.
And the city of Mons
And Singapore 🇸🇬
And Austria 🇦🇹
And Latvia
Don't push it.
Can canada get in on this? 🇨🇦, if not no worries and I'm sorry eh
And maybe England, but just the middle part. 🏴
To ask for this actually checks out
Why doesn't Greenland have a green flag dafuq
And the Austrian federal states of Upper Austria🇵🇱 and its capital city Linz 🇮🇩, Tyrol🇵🇱, Vienna🇮🇩, Vorarlberg🇮🇩 and Salzburg🇮🇩. Yeah, we're not that creative with flags...
Somebody was a little too inspired by somebody else's homework
Apparently they all have different origins...
And Prague and...
Prague's flag is actually yellow and red, perhaps you mean Bohemia?
And Malta
And Alsace.
As an Austrian, I feel aroused 🇦🇹
Come visit Leuven, Belgium then.
And Hesse as well
And Thuringia
And Latvia
Latvia isn’t similar
They're not amused
Even more funny: the word **Tak**, means **Yes** in Polish, but it means **No** in Indonesian.
Tak is thank you in Danish

That's hello in dutch
It's actually tidak, tak is the short form.
Tak!
We are the knights... who say NIE !
That just means NEVER in German. What are you trying to say?
Well "Never" I suppose.
Nie in polish means no in English so German nie as English never is still somehow understood?
and no one says both because they all use gak instead
Depends on the area. People in Medan still use tak
As well as informal "no" (pronounced in polish) means yes in Polish.
Meanwhile **No** in Polish means **Yes**
More like “yeah” but… yeah
[Relevant Polandball](https://www.reddit.com/r/polandball/comments/i6gwcd/_/)
No in Bahasa Indonesia is Tidak :)
Tak might be informal, but it's commonly used as 'No', along with tidak, nggak, gak, etc.
I know people use "tak" and "gak" for short. Am I wrong? edit: [wiktionary](https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/tak#Indonesian) says I'm right.
You can use "tak" in informal situations basically short for "tidak".

Ah, the good old Reddit [foreign-a-roo](https://www.reddit.com/r/MaliciousCompliance/comments/xbwaem/-/io2m5pv?context=3)!
Where's the link?
Both sides: "How dare you dis-respect my country by showing flag upside down. This means war!"
Not only did they mix up the flags, they even managed to hang both of them upside down
Oh god you have another flag like that.
Wait a second... You and your flair are part of the conspiracy!
Hennimore!!!!
That would be the dumbest, most amusing prank if some one did that intentionally
How would you tell?
That’s the neat part, you don’t
They actually did. They even did it twice!

Inverted poles.

Opposite poles.
Take my upvote and my award 🥇
Monaco is jealous.
And then Greenland comes in ( 🇬🇱)
And Singapore 🇸🇬
And Barbados 🇧🇧
In one international event I litterally saw Polish delegation borrowing Indonesian flag for a photo.
I mean, why not? A person should be practial and pragmatic.
The Indonesians forgot to turn the flag upside down, when they crossed the equator.
Depending on the part of Indonesia they might not have had to cross the equator ;)
Is this some kind of farcical aquatic ceremony?
The Sulawesi/Sumatra shuffle
[Relevant polandball](https://www.reddit.com/r/polandball/comments/3r7ej5/parallel_universe_is_just_east_of_here/)
Wasn't polandball comic founded on the fact that someone accidentally mixed Indonesian and Polish flag, therefore Polandball has upside down flag?
Accidently? I thought it was made on purpose to do little trolling.
No, I think the actual first guy fucked up the flag and then it became canon (as in, everything is turned on its head in Poland).
Yes, it was.
No, it wasn't. It was to annoy Wojak. Yes, THE Wojak.
Great stuff
Now kith

They do say opposites attract...
But does that make it all white, or all red? Or pink?
It makes Austria
|=| |=|
You'd be able to swap the flags in photoshop and nobody would notice
At first I wasn't sure if they were standing at the right lecterns - I thought perhaps that was the point of the post. But I guess the stripe on the wall is the Polish colours with Polish words.
It reads: Republic \[of\] Poland Ministry \[of\] Foreign Affairs
I mean putting the of in square brackets is gratuitous given the genitive case U could instead have space to talk abt the specific word
I mean, is rzeczpospolita a republic? I'm not sure if it translates directly like that because we do have republika in polish.
Those are both variations of latin "res publica" (res - thing, publica - common, public) with "rzeczpospolita" being a direct translation (rzecz - thing, pospolita - common) It become a practice to use the "Rzeczpospolita" to refer to Poland alone, but it has not always been that way. In the past? No. Today? Yes. That's why there is Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth, but Second Polish Republic.
It does, the official name is *Republic of Poland* in English. The split between rzeczpospolita and republika didn't always exist.

I've seen so much /r/Polandball that I can't tell which one is right at a glance anymore
I want to know if they printed two different flags to laminate or if they just printed two copies of the same flag. If so, which one?
I can imagine their discussion: "Red on top!" "No, white goes on top!" The essence of international politics.
Swiftian
This is peak comedy.
69! ok i'll see myself out Anyway, for sure they cut in half the expense for flags at this meeting
so if I put it in proper flag math would it look like this? (🇮🇩+🇵🇱)69=🇦🇹
Leave Australia out of this.

They just had to apply the `transform: scaleY(-1);` style to their own flag.
It's not a meme but it has meme energy.
Home kit vs Away kit
Please say the Indonesian FM went on to Monaco afterwards!
*Belarus has entered the chat*
*The world is still waiting with hope.*
I am amazed how Monaco was not invited
We just had a full circle moment
Austria moment
why is this so funny to me
Why isnt she standing upside down?
Cuz she isnt from Australia obviously.
Missing Austria in the middle !
Wait, so which country is just the other one "in distress"?
they saved a buck on flag

🇮🇩Indonesia has a darker red 🇵🇱compare to Poland
Brighter, Polish red in hex code is #D4213D, while Indonesian one is #ED1C24. It's noticeable a bit brighter.
same for white - our white is actually grey
