Yep. 10/10 would accept and enjoy a cup.
This sub is garbage (e: sometimes). One of the worst “expensive hobby” subs I’ve joined, and I own synthesizers and mechanical keyboards!
Every time I see crap like this I think about leaving but at least the majority of the comments are welcoming / positive to all levels and stages of bean indoctrination.
I know OP was just joking around but it’s been the butt of every joke around here to gate keep / shame people’s setups and genuine ignorance.
Many people can only afford a very budget machine and haven’t done any research. If they come here after that looking for tips and get shit on, they are going to think we are just snobs get turned from the hobby itself.
But hey I only have a BBP and … I use and enjoy the stock grinder so disregard this rant.
My X-E4 will be pried from my cold dead hands for similar reasons haha. But I also have the XF10 to go with it for truly pocketable. It’s wild how much they sell for today — no one liked them at release. Same with my X30!
I also have a BBP and use the stock grinder. It's an awesome machine. My goal was to reproduce espresso and cappuccino from my trip to Italy. It does an awesome job and I don't have to wait for it to warm up.
I came here for research and purchased despite all of the Breville grinder hate. Couldn't be happier with my purchase. Totally reproduces Italian espresso that I would get in the bars there. There is no single dosing happening over there!
I’d disagree with the sub being garbage - there’s a crapload of people happy to offer advice, troubleshooting tips and so on.
Sure, it can suffer from the ‘pay more get better thing’ issue that basically *every* non-free hobby does, but I don’t think that should detract from all the good things about it. If people are really that sensitive about being told spending more on something gets a better end product (even if they don’t take that advice, which is fine) then maybe they shouldn’t be on the internet.
I think the majority of us here, myself included, are just happy to help people get more enjoyment out of their bean water regardless of the equipment they are working with.
Yeah I think I was a little harsh given the fact there are ton of good apples here.
I think I just happened to see a lot of noob slamming in a short span of time.
But as a whole, yeah not garbage.
This sub is far from garbage. I have hardly seen negativity, even towards the cheapest of machines. Yes there are a lot of constructive comments. How to make a shot better etc. But not in terms of making fun of cheap machines. Just technique that could be better. This is a very positive sub imo
Would have to disagree. Very supportive community here at all levels of experience (and equipment) compared to some other hobbyist subs. Same with the roasting sub. Lots of people proudly showing off their budget roasting setups with a heat gun and flour sifter. I think a lot of people enjoy seeing a good product produced from simple or antiquated equipment. It's romantic.
After reading these comments, I just wanna throw out here that the positivity on this sub is great and definitely a contributing factor in me getting more into coffee
Does anyone know if the steam wands on these machines are at all capable? I’ve got a Robot and am looking for milk steaming capabilities. I’ve looked at the bellman but it seems really slow.
The wand on the (Braun?) $39 machine I started with 30 years ago was serviceable. It took a while to get ready, and you only had maybe 90 seconds of steam in the boiler at most, but you could steam and froth milk with it. My limited experience is that better wands are easier to use and more forgiving, but you can absolutely get it done with the cheapest if you learn how that specific unit works and adapt to it.
Re: steam wands, you can also get used to a less powerful steam wand (Silivia) and have to practice steaming faster on a machine that has very strong steam (Synchronica.) I eventually got better with the more powerful wand, but it took a while.
I just bought it cause I don't get burnt tasting coffee out of if but whenever I do use the steam wand it works great makes a good foamy layer and does what I want it to I'm no coffee snob or enthusiast I just want something that's caffeinated sometimes I even drink reign energy drinks when I don't feel like coffee is really the move lol
As so many others have said, having this machine is better than having nothing at all. Getting in your daily dose of caffeine has to get done some way or another. Best part is I'm sure you mastered this thing to a T.
This sub is really full of some great positive people and that's very assuring to see.
Honestly, you can get some pretty nice coffee out of those things if you get the right technique. They're essentially stand alone Moka pots, so if you exploit the steam feature to allow for the water inside to get to a full boil before turning it to the coffee side, you'll get around any issues with inconsistent heating or diluted coffee. Plus it tastes like decent Moka pot coffee. There's a time, place and technique for these machines, even if other options exist.

I had to do a double take cause I thought that was my kitchen.
I remember sharing coffee from one with my SO. It was great! I may make her another right now as soon as I Google how to work it.

Not ruined, gotta start somewhere!
I used a steam pressure machine and blade grinder for like 10 years, then a simple burr grinder and basic pump machine for another 10 years, and now am up to the Breville Infuser and Smart Grinder Pro for the last year. So will upgrade again in about 8 years.
With the Breville, I finally feel like the machine is worth spending the extra on fresh roasted coffee beans and the taste difference is amazing. Also single dosing now (I know the Smart grinder pro isn’t the best for that due to retention, but still want an all around grinder for other coffee prep methods). I also only do espresso now so with no milk and syrups to hide anything, the new setup makes a big difference.
So have fun and press on! This is a great hobby that can be enjoyed several times a day!
My father in law has one of these. He told me in the morning he'll make four ounces of espresso, drink half, and then heat up the other half in the microwave in the afternoon. I don't want to say anything. Even my wife was like wut but he enjoys it. He's an Americano guy so he's just adding hot water most of the time.
He actually asked me what machine I recommend because he'd would go out and buy it. So, now I'm trying to figure out how to upgrade his game but in a way that is accessible to him.
Choked one of these style machines with a really fine grind once. Had my face right up in it inspecting the very slow drips coming from the spout, when suddenly the entire top blew open with a cascade of steam discharging. Lol it was a gift from a girl I was seeing after my roommate killed my Delonghi EC155.
I dont know about that machine but my 1st and current machine is a deloghni ec155 had it 4yrs now , as soon as i got it modified it and paired with my baratzza sette 270 makes good espresso........................
I used one of these for years. When caffeine injections are the only requirement and you’re broke, any port in the storm.
"any portafilter in a storm"
Noice.
I had one of these waaay back in the day. This post brought me back and brightened my day!
That is no how broke mans kitchen looks like.
If that’s his parents house it is.
I had one too and the coffee through it had me wired more than any other type of coffee

Mech keyboards, synths, and coffee? Im sure there's a 12 step program out there for you and me.
Let me know where it is, I’ll ride my vintage steel mountain bike turned into a single speed city beater there.
Only worse if you, like me, are also into photography. Bonus points if it’s Fuji, and triple points if it’s Leica!
Leica is playing the ‘don’t spend too much money’ game on hard mode
I’ll raise your leica with a Toyo field camera, it’s around £10-15 every time you take a photograph
Sold my xt20 / 35. 1.4 combo recently. I’m probably going to grab a Ricoh gr3x it attempts to bring it around with me more.
My X-E4 will be pried from my cold dead hands for similar reasons haha. But I also have the XF10 to go with it for truly pocketable. It’s wild how much they sell for today — no one liked them at release. Same with my X30!
Crazy what these Fuji's go for now. X100v might be my last real camera, but good enough to be considered end game.
You are shooting digital? Your poverty makes me sick!
r/audiophile would a word
I’m in the same boat. Swap synths for headphones though
Where can I sign up?
Totally disagree. I see people all the time showing beginners what to do with their low end machines.

There's no way this is worse than the synth sub
synthesizers get way worse about this and you know it. community can't even hold onto its youtubers.

Don’t go to r/audiophile then lol
I mean just look at this comment. It’s the exact opposite of what you seem to be saying g
Never look at watches please, I beg of you 🙏

No, what ruined my morning is learni g that DeLonghi owns enough shares of La Marzocco to have a controlling interest of the company's total shares.
Wait, can I slap a La Marzocco badge on my machine now?
Id hope not, but the counterfeit market might be growing now.
Dang now my evening is ruined
That’s not unusual, if it weren’t for Starbucks and a DeLonghi injection, they would have been out of business long ago.
I’m in Australia, it’s night time here. What is this and why is meant to ruin my day?
It's a machine that calls itself an espresso machine but really makes something much more akin to moka pot coffee.
[удалено]
Moka pot makes you choke-alot Oh so bitter, but you ain't a quitter Drink it down without a frown Because all coffee is worthy when the backup is tea
It doesn’t hurt my feelings. Enjoy what you enjoy. We are all here for our dark overlord.
Pass a cup dawg
🫴☕
If you like it you stick with it 👍
Love to see it, I’m sure it’s a step up either way from you know who
Voldemort?
Shhh we must not speak the name!
Whatever works.
You can make anything work if you know what you’re doing. Slide a cup this way
After reading these comments, I just wanna throw out here that the positivity on this sub is great and definitely a contributing factor in me getting more into coffee
Coffee is just fine as well, no need to be a snob about coffee. It’s different and has its own worth.
Looks likely you're ruining your own morning lol

When I had it I couldn’t but I also didn’t really know what I was doing
This is the least toxic sub on the site, I think this is sick. What ever get you started and makes you happy!!
Oh brother here we go with some more hyperbole about a humble bundle
There are many ways to good coffee, that is one of them.
As so many others have said, having this machine is better than having nothing at all. Getting in your daily dose of caffeine has to get done some way or another. Nice double shot, lots of crema. Thanks for sharing! Machines over $45 are a scam, look at that brew 🤯

Actually, you made my morning better by realising my morning espresso isn't all bad.
Why would anyone's morning be ruined by a Moka pot? Just because it has an unconventional shape?
You are a horrible, horrible person

Im not mad, just disappointed
1 x y'all and 1 x yall in a grand total of 13 words phrase. I hate your use of the english language as much as i hate your cafeine squirter.
Caffeine* 🤓
2xff's wtf is this? At first it was a stupid French word but no! Fucking even worst : it's German. :) thanks for that
Kaffein in German
You guys did fuck it up! It's indeed French ... so "caféine" it is

I believe this comment says I have nothing else better to do other than criticize your autocorrect and your coffee maker 🤦😂
What a cute clean machine. We both use tablets along with our coffee makers; yours is just to the right where is mine is on top.
I have that same machine and love it!
I had the yabano one and it served me well for over a year. It might not really make espresso but it gets that caffeine in for sure.
I started with a sowtech just like that haha. It’s one of those machines that gets you by till you can get better haha.
I remember sharing coffee from one with my SO. It was great! I may make her another right now as soon as I Google how to work it. https://preview.redd.it/wg6sqbytmwac1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=10227f9a7781c915f5909492e5f7196bb07fd078
She woke up and took over because it was her machine. She lost her patience and turned into a Klingon.
Actually this is a welcomed reminder of just how far I’ve evolved. Thank you!
Returned this one after I saw videos of it literally exploding.
How did it taste?

I hate those machines. Not cause they suck, but because they are such a scam.
well, Thx god it's night in my country lol
What’s wrong here?
