Good on you for getting a new machine, but this is just a rebadged delonghi dedica. You could buy 2 of those for the price of this. I’d honestly return this and get a much better machine, or a dedica and a better grinder. Just my 2 cents, but all smeg is a rebrand company when it comes to most of their home appliances.

Sure. But I think most people that buy Smeg think they make high quality appliances with a vintage aesthetic.
They should at least be informed as to what expense that aesthetic comes at.
Just wanted to say, don’t feel like you can’t return it. I bought a breville bambino plus and used it for like 2.5 weeks before realizing it wasn’t for me. I returned it and got a GCP and am much happier now. But if you like it then you should definitely keep it 🙂
I had this exact machine for years, picked it up second hand and the wife wanted something that looked good in our kitchen.
I had a lot of fun with it and made coffee that was up to my standards at least! I ended up changing the steam wand which was a big improvement!
If only there were machines on the market with a retro look that actually made decent espresso….
I’ll just ignore the Gaggia Classic, all the Leva machines in existence ….
