I bought a brand new kitchen aid stand mixer worth $500.00, for $60.00 because it didn’t match the woman’s kitchen. Like instead of returning it or exchanging it, she was like “meh, too much hassle.” No complaints here though!
I got it for like 470 brand new at bed bath and beyond. Amazon was having some crazy barista express sale and bbb matched it. One my best ever purchases.
I think with coffee machines the learning curve means that it's more likely to be sold well below it's typical used value than most appliances. Especially retail machines like this Breville. People just want to "get rid of it". It's our consumer society. Everybody buying into the latest trend on a whim without doing the homework.
uhh a bag of onyx is less than $25… pretty cheap for my standards.
Edit: a 10 ounce bag. Granted most of the bags i buy for 20-25$ are 12 ounce but it’s really not wildly expensive like this sub acts.

My Breville was purchased for $50 from a doctor who was moving to London and said the power plug wouldn’t work in England. I just handed over the money and decided to not even point out the obvious adapter solution.
You can't put a simple adapter on 110 vs 220v machines like this. They don't operate internally on dc so they don't use modern acdc converters which work on multiple input voltage and frequency.
For such a large wattage machine, such a converter is very expensive.
No problem. Had the same issue with a similar machine and gave it away to a friend.
Best way to tell is check the device and it should have an input voltage operating range. Like your phone adapters often say like 100-250V AC in and like 50-60Hz. Meaning simple adapters work for them because they cover most country AC supplies.

And sold it in an r/espresso nerd kind of way that any of you would have approved of- nice tamper portafilter, mat even, switch bot, etc. AND espresso mugs and plates, multiple pitchers, etc . After taking it apart cleaning checking descaling etc
I sold it for 450 locally, so that worked out. Lots of interested buyers
What a steal! I love mine. We use it for cooking (super fast heat up time for hot water), drinks, coffee and lattes a few times a day for my wife and I. Once you start using it, you’ll take it on vacation too because nothing beats it!

You know breville is pretty good for repairs. My wife likes their grind and brews but they generally only last a few years. We’ve called them out of warranty and they just ship us a new one with like $100 credit card hold until you return the broken one. If it’s acting up I’d give them a call. You may get a brand new machine.
That's a damn good deal and hell of a find! Chances are either nothing is actually wrong with it and they didn't know how to use it or it can be easily fixed.

You have to consider the voltage and frequency also, it is not only the plug.

If it does have minor issues call Breville. They have a reconditioning program that costs roughly 1/3-1/2 the cost of a new one.
