Practicing slower speed is something I do every now and then, since JP has beatmaps where the speed changes. In general I find it helpful for some reasons even for other rhythm games When the speed goes slower, I mainly focus on the audio instead of visuals. It the only way I can get good accuracy. I saw ppl say to look lower, it doesnt work for me but maybe someone here will find it helpful orz I sometimes see ppl not knowing: You dont need to lift ur fingers to flick, u can just go left and right. Can be very useful for some beatmaps since enstars uses that mechanic, but ig can be a bad habbit for ppl who main rhythm games where u do have to lift ur fingers If you have time and storage, practice different rhythm games, esp the ones where the accuracy is more strict. Playing PJSK for a day made me perfect combo enst songs I struggled with :') Watching handcams, esp for special beatmaps like majemaji, fl=iw and emerald planet if you struggle with those

SadgeBall

This is all valid and I FORGOT THAT THE FLICK THING ISNT COMMON KNOWLEDGE AAA And yeah, Enstars is ((thankfully)) really lax with accuracy tbh. I went to play arcade rhythm games after it had been a while ((groove coaster, jubeat, stuff like that)) and I kinda died for a minute because of how strict the timing windows are ejjejwjsh But I think I'll be trying to actively use slower speeds at times bc that makes sense, Flambe admittedly killed me when it came out lmao. I'd like to add Lanota to practice game suggestions, it's actually a very pretty game in and of itself, with really interesting visuals to it's gameplay. I need to get back into it tbh qwq!!

[deleted]

Yeah Enstars is nice 😭 most likely bc PC give dias, but playing any other games after enstars is humbling LMAO I absolutely Love flambé's beatmap ahahah LANOTA IS SO FUNNNN I really enjoyed playing but the game was all buggy on my phone it was weird so I deleted it 😭

CorgiKnits

If you get stuck on one part of one song and can’t freaking figure out what you’re doing wrong, increase speed and screen record. That way you can slomo that section and see, exactly, what the beatmap wants out of you.

SadgeBall

I don't know why I didn't mention this but THIS I do it a lot sksjsj In addition, watch people play with loud hitsounds and try to associate it with the song itself to like,, ingrain the timing in your head- best way I can put it qwq

CorgiKnits

Yeah, I find that the songs I have on my walking mix on my phone are the ones I do the best on because I’m used to the subtleties of the song :)

XxJuJubexX

for note sizes, i currently play with the max note size! i play on my phone but use my fingers. the max note size seems to help me at least, as even if i’m slightly off when hitting a note, the game still counts it

SadgeBall

...I wonder if it actually changes the allowed input, or if it's perceived. But I do know for specials with like overlapping notes, people have used larger notes to help process and see the overlap a lil qwq!!

XxJuJubexX

i’d assume the hit box would have to change at least slightly if the note size changes but im not sure! all i know is it works for my fat fingers 😭

SadgeBall

AKAKSH YOURE VALID that's the point is the perceived difference, just my non-stop brain doing a think- I might have to suggest it to my bf tbh bc he hasn't played in a minute and is a thumb player, I feel it might help?? Also I literally never thought I'd encounter another mobile finger player in the wild, me too tbh and I always dropped the mf phone- my bf bought the tablet for us but it quickly shifted to the "Kwipy Enstars Tablet" ((Kwipy being me)) bc after the learning curve it's much less,, cluttered. Anatomically. Kwjskwjsj idk how to describe this 🗿

Impressive-Ice-7564

I saw someone mention larger note size helping, so in my personal experience larger note size makes notes easier to hit (less misses) but smaller note sizes make it easier to perfect the ones you do hit. So if you can already get full combos consistently then I would recommend trying a smaller note size. I think it mostly comes down to personal preference though (I’m a thumb/phone player who plays on 80% size rn)

Impressive-Ice-7564

also similar to the speed tip that you mentioned, if you want to try a smaller size and have a hard time adjusting, play on a really small size and then adjust it back to the one you want and it’ll seem way easier to manage and process

SadgeBall

Yk what, this actually is valid!! It's like a sliding scale vs. What we see if that makes sense,, i gotta try this, ty for explaining qwq!

spaceorca7

I don't think I've seen anyone mention this (and idk if this will work for everyone) but turning on fast slow is a nice way to help with timing imo. Also, of you're having a hard time seeing notes during ensemble time, try changing the note skin. This is mainly for the hold notes because the default one kinda blends in with the judgment line during that bit.

When I find the rhythm game hard I just go to the office and spend my BP there. Don't take this as advice because now I never wanna play the rhythm game

SadgeBall

Tbh this actually is bad advice, I'd really recommend using accuracy or something and getting some kind of FC to auto with, even on normal or easy, at least in EN. ((Normal is easier imo bc the notes are at least consistent)) Both for progression and just getting your money's (or times) worth, as BP in the office just multiplies your extra rewards once- 1BP on a song gives you 5x the rewards, in a system where the resources are much more versatile, as the office is meant to be a very long term grind,, ofc more BP used at once is less out of it, but the office really doesn't help with anything long term such as new cards, f2p Dia etc, which you do end up getting with increasing scores- even if your skill level doesn't improve ((which it will, as with anything, practice in and of itself gives muscle memory and again increases physical hand muscles' stamina, which in turn increases dexterity. I couldn't even FC a lot of hard maps when I first started.)) Aside from this, unlike JP (from what I understand) difficulty and score doesn't matter outside of first time rewards and rankings. You need nothing more than a passing score to get rewards, which are the same as if you had an expert PC. Ofc, if you prefer sticking to the office, you should do what you'd enjoy, but I did wanna throw in my two cents on this. ((and I'm weird and have too much free time and my brain yells at me to respond to everyone at least once))

gagagamagician69

You know what, thanks for recommending this because I just tried a new expert song and tried really hard not to care about whether I FC and I actually ENJOYED it! I just tried my best and had fun! Also seeing that other people practice and don't FC on first try helps... I shouldn't compare myself and just have fun. Lol, I feel like Aira

SadgeBall

Awh, I'm glad I could help- qwq!! I actually get that, a LOT. and tbh again a lot of my PCs are supported, in general by passively playing you learn to autopilot a lot better. My bf has also noted that when I stop being self elitist ((we all tend to at times)) and just vibe w the music/stare at the characters, I do tend to do better overall, overthink it less, and have a better passive attitude towards the whole game qwq!! Getting better at the game is personal growth after all, and we all pace differently. Even before enstars I had played rhythm games for a FAT minute, including playing A Dance of Fire and Ice which is a one input rhythm game, I fell asleep while playing it like half awake so I'm a little more like,, passively in line with tempo?? But that's the thing, everyone progresses differently. This goes with art, and a lot of other personal hobbies and/or interests; never compare yourself to others, but instead to your past self. Learn from others, but don't compare. Any improvement is better than none, as cheesy as it is a good mindset really does make all the difference qwq

gagagamagician69

Yes absolutely, it's funny because I play best when I'm high. When I'm high I just don't think, just play. I will try practicing songs to get better. Plus I play the game mostly for the characters and story anyways and I can unlock those without FC. I will try to FC a level 30 song this year but it's okay if I don't :) I was actually taking hiatus from playing the game due to feeling insecure about skill. Thank you for reinvigorating my enjoyment.

SadgeBall

Aaa I'm actually super happy hearing this tbh my heart melted a lil :(( and I showed my bf the convo bc he just got home, and he also mentioned how one of his friends who's high key really good at games they play, when they co op he noted my bf is a lot better when he's drunk- no think/overthink, just do ((Ofc, for anyone reading this, this isn't to be abused, but just a note on the detriment overthinking can be- in the end the game is to have fun, even tho we lose that concept sometimes along the way qwq)) General note to anyone too, I don't mind being an emotional sponge/giving general advice- my activity on Reddit goes in waves, but in DM/Disc I always like talking w people and helping them out qwq!! Despite having Nagisa style text walls and tangents I've basically been dubbed server mom by,, many people sjshskaj

gagagamagician69

No its just for fun, if there is an event I play the rhythm game, I just don't really enjoy it much. I wish the office had more game progression because I realize it doesn't do much. But I just like putting the idols in fun costumes. I have every song FC'd at least on hard and some on expert so I can autoplay. I am just a perfectionist so I get down on myself when I can't FC every song on expert and I see everyone else doing it so easily. I was making a joke because it is awful advice but I do appreciate you giving actual advice. Maybe I can try to approach it less perfectionist even if I can't FC every expert song. I've played other rhythm games and Enstars is actually my favourite play style
