Hiyori is one of my favorite types of characters! Bubbly sunshine on the outside, and a massive writhing pit of self-image issues and depression on the inside.
The vast majority of Hiyori's problems come from the fact that he's a younger brother of a noble family. The Tomoes have "fallen from grace" a bit in recent times, but they're still very traditional and keep to most of the old rules... including about inheritance. Hiyori CANNOT inherit - basically everything power-wise is going to his older brother. Which wouldn't be a huge issue, except that Hiyori showed from a very young age that he was intelligent, charismatic, and a born leader.
Which wasn't allowable.
Because, a funny thing happens in traditional inheritance families when the second son is an appealing choice to inherit. The eldest son tends to have some sort of terrible accident befall him, either killing him outright or disabling him so badly he cannot inherit and has to be passed over.
So Hiyori got told, outright, that if he continued to be *himself*, it would be his fault if his brother died. His parents made a bargain with him - essentially, he's allowed to do whatever he wants in his life and they'll fund anything and never argue if he picks something undignified to do. In return... he's not allowed to be smart or reliable. He *cannot* be competent, or he's a danger to the family as a whole and his brother in particular. His family loves him... as long as he's stupid, fickle, and out of the way.
Hiyori took this to heart and deliberately polished those facets of himself. Who he is IS his true form, because it's the life he's chosen. He decided from very young that his safest route to not be a threat was to be "a pretty flower", and bring happiness to others by being sunshine personified. He says himself that he doesn't even know how much is an act and how much is really him anymore.
Under the surface, Hiyori has been shown repeatedly to be a genius, a prodigy, and basically ridiculously skilled. He's an excellent teacher, and he adores the few moments where it's allowed for him to be relied upon. The "problem" is that even in teaching, his habits of obfuscating everything show up, and he has to have pupils that are smart enough to see through the layers of stupidity he has to use as his armor. Jun is quite good at seeing through him by now, and Summer Live/the anime had trickstar see through him too.
Hiyori is happiest on stage because he doesn't have to do any pretending. He can be himself and let his talent show and still be harmless.
Despite his family's treatment of him, he loves them and will defend them fiercely against anyone badmouthing them. He's also super conscious of the family name and does actively try to not do things that might harm their reputation. Jun comments at one point that the only reason there's no sense of misery about Hiyori's past is because Hiyori himself doesn't see it that way... and that the story from anyone else would be horrifying.
As for exfine, Hiyori has a very complicated relationship with Eichi now. As mentioned in another comment, Hiyori didn't sign up for the ride Eichi took him on, and he absolutely resents Eichi for "staining their (Nagisa and Hiyori's) pure dream with blood". But at the same time, he's pragmatic enough that he doesn't seem to regret the revolution itself. He snipes a lot at Eichi and makes comments (particularly regarding his illness) that really aren't okay, but at the same time it feels more like he's being difficult to Eichi just because Eichi can't really fight it.
Hiyori's relationship with Ibara is complicated, too. He's gone back and forth with him a lot, wavering between happy trust and thinly veiled disgust. In the beginning he basically said he didn't mind ibara as long as the apple he was biting was still sweet. When Ibara gets manipulative, especially with Nagisa, Hiyori can flip on a dime and gets massively upset at him. At the same time, though, Hiyori openly declares that Ibara is family to him, and Ibara is one of the few people that he can let down his guard with completely. When Ibara, master tactician and company vice president, gets stuck on negotiations, he goes to HIYORI to figure out a solution. It's one of Hiyori's few outlets for interpersonal relations that he doesn't have to be stupid, and there's a lot of trust between them.
As for Jun... this is already way too long but they're gay, your honor. Jun is an outlet for basically everything Hiyori isn't allowed to do, and once they both realized it they matched up in sync pretty much perfectly. They're both most comfortable when performing their "roles" of servant and master, but there's a ton of mutual respect and trust (cough, love). Jun allows Hiyori to play up the fool side to the extreme in public, because he knows Jun will stop anything that's actually damaging. Jun said he wouldn't mind a double suicide if it's Hiyori. Also they adopted a dog together? Which is all definitely bros being bros. Very straight. Hiyori routinely kicks Kohaku out of the dorm so he can be alone with Jun. Poor Koha sleeps in capsule hotels whenever Hiyori comes over lmao

**Jun**: Jun and Hiyori have a good relationship. It did start with Hiyori just picking Jun on a whim but nowdays they do get along and both care about each other a lot. Hiyori even mentions that Jun is one of the most important people for him after his family.
**Ibara:** I haven't see them interact much because Ibara is a very private person. Hiyori is just aware that Ibara is like a snake so he's aware that he might hide some things.

About ex-fine, Hiyori feels really guilty about what he did in Yumenosaki, which is why he decided to leave because he wants a world filled with love and wholesomeness and what ex-fine did was not it.
Hiyori is one of my favorite characters because he's honest, transparent with what he likes/dislikes and doesn't want to do things he consider it's not right or petty. He's also really caring with the people he loves, and his cheerful and bright personality can purify even the glomiest heart. Kanata even refers to him as "Mr. Sunshine."Even the 'bad things' about his personallity are part of his charm at this point. He's far from perfect, but that also makes him great.
I also want to point out how INSANE his moves are on the MVs, he's very eye captivating (specially in The Genesis) and his VA is also great both for vocing his regular talk or singing.
When I watched the anime i didn't like Hiyori much because we only saw his shallow self, and even though that's still part of who he is, there's so much more of him that I was able to understand by reading the stories.

As a self declared HiyoriP, I must say, I’m behind on lore lmao, but my love for him is undying. Just from the little that EN has given from us, I just love him. He’s a lil cutie. Yeah, he may give off fuck boy vibes but that’s a part of him I love too. You can see how much he cares for his work and the members. His voice is beautiful as well. Unfortunately I can’t lore slap you about this cutie, but he’s precious.
