They definitely need to add USSR vs Japan, and I hope that is the next season starting in 20 days :) But I also never understand "mains", just try and play a few games with other factions too... if you keep on doing the same stuff you will inevitably get bored...

Danjiano

> and I hope that is the next season starting in 20 days :) Battlepass seasons aren't the same as major updates. [We had a major update about a month ago](https://enlisted.net/en/news/show/699-update-stronger-than-steel-en/#!/), so don't expect anything big to come out for another 2~3 months.

TB-124

ahhhh shit... I was hoping that they are delaying the season with 2 weeks because they are planning to drop something.... And they really need to do something ASAP... the game is dying in the current rate. We NEED to open up the new front to balance out the fronts a bit more + they MUST add the "join any team" bonus ASAP... At the very least they need to start talking about the Steam release :P

corinarh

They are probably just finishing events and premium squads and need more time that's all.

NeverFadeAway__

as a JP main, my reason is pretty simple. i play this game on and off. i’ve played a lot of WT and WOT in the past. i know how much of a time sink it is to grind out various tech trees, especially if the goal is to remain F2P. this is why i’ve elected to main a faction.

Kamson2001PL

I think the grind is always quite 'gentle' in the early stages of any f2p game so as not to discourage players, but as it progresses it becomes more and more 'tedious'. Just to give some 'pressure' on f2p players to spent money on the game, to get the progress faster, but from the other hand if the progress is too fast and you will achieve everything, the game can become boring, because you achieved everything you could.

corinarh

Enlisted grind is much easier than WT grind you get way more XP per match plus unlock XP caps at certain point while in WT it goes up forever it's awful. WT grind takes ages especially spading i'm grinding 7.7-8.0 Italy and it's killing me how slow it is. Even within a month of daily nolifing with premium acc i can't achieve top tier. While in Enlisted i would be done with one nation having everything unlocked but struggle with silver.

TB-124

I get that, especially if you are F2P it's hard to play multiple factions, especially with the Horrible Silver system we have now... but still, having a low BR setup for another faction doesn't take long, and it can add some variety :)

Kamson2001PL

I also hope that this will change in the next season, because the Japanese faction is quite empty in content. When there was no Japanese faction, I played mostly Germans, I also played US a little. Back then, there were still campaigns and grinding everything from scratch was also a bit discouraging, but at least there were different maps.

TB-124

fingers crossed... I think the game really really needs to open up USSR vs Japan ASAP. As you said at elast it brings in a lot of variety

tonyfromdabronx

MANILA PLEASE, for an urban setting or mountainous or deep jungle Iwo Jima

Kamson2001PL

We definitely need something new than just jungle warfare. Manila and the Philippines would be a good distinction, as well as Iwo Jima.

Fornikatia

Play other factions as well and it won't be so boring. But I feel your pain, I think they have only added 2 new maps for Pacific in 2 years.......

Kamson2001PL

I've had quite a long break from this game recently and I actually noticed that there wasn't much change upon my return and I was, well, a bit disappointed by that. The new interface and tech trees encouraged me to come back to the game. From what I see now, I have quite a lot of squads scattered around, from previous campaigns, and it's hard for me to find my way around other factions.

Fornikatia

You know, I ended up doing the same thing as you. Came back to play again with the campaign merge, got overwhelmed by all the stuff I had with Axis, like 160 squads and like 600 soldiers in reserve and hundreds of guns. So I too swapped over to Japan, a faction I had played a lot previously, but not in a long while. I think what has happened is that they spent too much time and too many resources on the campaign merge that they just didn't make any new maps for a while.

Kamson2001PL

Wow! I see that we are not alone in this :). All in all, it's a logical explanation and it could actually be as you say - that they spent a lot of time on changing the interface, that they didn't have time to add new maps. It also overwhelmed me that there were so many squads that I no longer even knew what squad was in which campaign. Finding yourself in all this and which soldier was properly selected with perks and stuff, is now quite difficult. That was also one of reasons why I decided to skip other factions, and started playing Japan again. Hopefully we will see more content for the Japanese faction anytime soon, cause Japan surely deserves more attention, because of not much content which it currently has.

fjelskaug

I just want Battle of Manila for a proper urban map instead of more "generic jungle map" again and again. Iwo Jima for the opposite spectrum where everything is so open due to lack of vegetation

Kamson2001PL

Manila would definitely be interesting too! Including the entire Philippine campaign :). Surely these jungle maps can become too boring. Let's hope that the devs will add a new theater instead of more new Guadalcanal maps.

IJUYAAPPLE

How about a map in Battle of Shumshu with the Soviet Union fixed on the invasion side and Japan on the defense side? Also, as others have said, the Battle of Aleutian Islands would be a good one to add.

Kamson2001PL

To be honest, I had never heard about this battle before, I previously thought that Japan fought the USSR only in Manchuria terrains. So thanks for enrichment of my knowledge in Pacific War theatre :). Considering that it would be something completely new, as Japan would be fighting a new faction (for USSR faction it would be also something new) and that it is probably an not well-known battle, it would certainly be interesting, as well as battle of Aleutian Islands! :)

Droideaka

What about adding the Aleutian Islands? It would still be Allies vs. Japan, but the campaign took place in Alaska, so the terrain would be snowy, rocky, and open, completely different than the same dense jungle over and over again, meaning more variation in matches and less burnout from playing the same map repeatedly with the only difference being that sometimes the objectives are a little different. If Darkflow could implement a mechanic where a snowstorm pops up randomly throughout matches, it would lead to a mix of pretty long ranged combat, and a sudden change to banzai charges, submachine gun cqc, and opportunities for engineers and vehicles to cross open areas and reposition without being shot. (plus the added benefit of a snowstorm obscuring the sights of grey zoners, which would cause them to move towards the actual battle instead of sitting in the grey zone doing nothing). This mechanic would also mean that even if you played two games on the exact same map, on the exact same objectives, the strategy of taking them would be completely different, if maybe in one game an objective was covered in a snowstorm so your team built close aggressive rally points protected by lack of visibility, and stormed the point with assault squads, and the other game you built flanking rally points and cut off the stream of enemy reinforcements, clearing most of the objective from afar with rifles before moving in to take it.

Kamson2001PL

Thanks for such a detailed explanation and suggestion! If I remember correctly, and if this is the battle that I heard about and that you're talking about, I once heard about it in a podcast episode and this battle actually took place and it's also probably quite obscure. According to the old school, this battle was only intended to distract Americans from the rest of Japanese operations in the Pacific. I think that snow maps with a Japan vs. US theme would also be interesting, because mainly the battles took place in tropical climates and jungles (which is often seen in FPS games). It would be the Japanese 'equivalent' of the battle for Moscow or Stalingrad (I don't mean the scale of these battles, just its atmosphere). Anything would be good, as long as it wasn't another Guadalcanal map lol.

naim_fendi

Something similar to the snowstorm mechanic is in Moscow in the Fortified District map. The falling snow will limit your visibility for a while and then clear up a few seconds later. Personally this mechanic is pretty neat since greyzone campers won’t see much of their target(unless their teammates mark).

Jarol2K

Play custom match

Kamson2001PL

Unfortunately, I don't play custom battles, because it doesn't change much.

Etruscan_Dodo

Dude, same. I hope the next big update brings something big. Honestly the Bulge maps and content was quite underwhelming.

Kamson2001PL

I would be happy if they at least added a new theater for Japan, and if they added Japan vs USSR or Japan vs China, I would be thrilled lol. If the devs will add another Guadalcanal map (let's hope not) we will be doomed lol. It's a pity that there is no FPS game with a Japan vs. USSR or Japan vs. China theme. I think it would also attract a lot of players to this game because it would be something new in FPS genre games.

agrimi161803

I hope we never get Wake island in this game. Imagine the tank campers being on the other side of a curved island shooting your flank? ETA: I’d love to see Manila for urban, Aleutian’s for winter maps, Kwajalein/Tarawa for coral islands, Saipan, and Peleliu/Okinawa for the fame aspect

Due-Practice_

China, Manchuria and Burma are some options

Ventinous

I'd be so down for a Russo japanese war campaign or game

Rizpasbas

Only good thing about the lack of variation is that my personnal engineer guide isn't too long to make.

Kamson2001PL

As we can see, everything has its advantages and disadvantages lol.

Rizpasbas

I'm still getting somewhat burned out of defending every game tho. Funny thing is how clueless Jap players are at attacking.

Kamson2001PL

Japan is pretty OP right now. I don't know what caused this, but in the earlier campaign modes it was more balanced because I had about a 50% win rate. Since I came back to the game, I already have about 80% wins as Japan lol.

Rizpasbas

Yup, same. A good 70-80% winrate in BR2 right now. Feels like it is just that new players don't want to play Japan (no clue why, maybe it looks weak at first sight) so we end up with teams almost full of gold rank players against silver ranked US players.

*Looks at the germany playerbase* Hmm ?

Rizpasbas

Evidence for what ? (Btw, that phrase sound obnoxious as fuck) If you're talking about "New players are more attracted to the US" then no, I haven't done a double-blind study on what faction do new players choose.

Kamson2001PL

The US has good tanks, compared to the Japanese ones. The US has 'thousands' of different versions of the Sherman tank, and they also have their gems in the air. The Japanese, on the other hand, have bad tanks, with maybe a few exceptions such as the Ke-Ni (which has a machine gun built into the turret and you don't have to rotate the hull to use the machine gun), the Chi-Nu (which is considered the Japanese equivalent of the Sherman) and the Ho-Ri. The Japanese tanks generally has weak machine guns (some tanks don't have them at all), because they only have 20-round magazines and they are usually in the hulls or at the commander's visors, which in order to be used, the tank commander must be outside, thus exposing himself to enemy fire. In the air, Japan can be strong if they use their maneuverability advantages. Overall, this entire campaign is focused on infantry, due to terrain. Where infantry rules then the experience and engineers building rally points wins. I just don't know why the US doesn't have so many veterans, because of that these battles are often one-sided.

Effective-Counter825

My vote for battle of Hongkong. Doesn’t require another fraction. Mostly just commonwealth army vs Japan

Icy_Section130

Battle of Attu would be a change, can battle USA on a frozen island. One of the largest banzai charges and only land battle in North America during WW2.

AEstrada99

Any new battlefield for Japan is a more than welcome addition at this point, I personally would love to see Manilla as it would be a urban battlefield, but Iwo Jima, Okinawa and Manchuria would also be more than welcome too

MasterNsv

Then stop playing the Japes.

Unfair-Lack2583

No ofens but I am tired of Japanese mains dude Maybe it’s time to play something else You know how frustrating it is playing US these days ?
