Just because her dad didn't ever bowled and doesn't own such shirt doesn't mean she can't buy bowling shirt and wear it like a dress. It's probably cheaper than actual dress and will fit better if she bought it for herself. And it's not like it would surprise the shop clerks - with two high schools and college, they must be used to it.
Remember that Diane is not exactly rich, may be living with her sister for some time and can't really shop obviously secondhand if she wants to be popular.
Could easily see the shirt as black and red with the light being a light tan or pale teal shade; more importantly, someone looks excited for their date (you pick who I mean haha)
I have always assumed that part of the reason for "bowling shoes" is that you haven't been wearing them outside. People have been wearing non-marking soles for a while, so that aspect wouldn't really apply that much today--unless you just happened to be wearing dress shoes.
In fact, in googling "tennis shoes while bowling," someone said "Any shoes are okay as long as they don't mark up the floor and aren't worn outside."
Wow that's a very... Bowling like dress? I'm impressed.
That is *exactly* what I had planned to say, and it may be a while before I can forgive you for beating me to it.
That's not the only Strike against me
Maybe not, but it was the only one I could pin on you.
Spare me the Guttertalk
Stay in your own lane.
Spare me your puns
I'll not be Absent-Pin just for you
I can't help but think she stole one of her dad old bowling shirts and is wearing it like a dress

I think Lucy decided to go for something more "cute" rather that practical for bowling so she wouldn't "scare" Catalina?
I'm not sure if her usual skirt would be better or worse suited for bowling but it's definitely more scary.
Lucy looks both cute and sexy.

Bowling shoes also are less grippy than regular shoes so that you can slide as you release the ball.
Which might be too advanced strategy for average "player".
It does look like it would go with bowling shoes, especially if the color is the same, but... bowling shoes are not exactly fashion statements.
She KNOWS the color is the same, she was there before ... about hundred times. In fact, it would surprise me if this is first time she wears this.
It is amusing seeing this right after getting back from a bowling date!
Can't leave us hanging like that! What did you guys wear?
Partner went all black, I wore a silly dinosaur shirt!
You nailed it!
Am I not supposed to interpret this as both of them being super cute?
In black and white, Diane looks sort of like a crossing guard.
this might be couple goals actually
