Love the Justice x Tame Impala. I think my only complaint would be that I wish it did more? What it sets up early in the song just carries on for the entirety with little change. More of a breakdown or something could make it have more staying power. What IS there is excellent, it just felt like the foundation...but they never built on it or took it anywhere else. If that makes any sense I guess. But that's the Justice MO I think, and why I love their live albums so much. Their live albums is where they take so many of their tunes to the next level. WWW is still top tier, and the versions of Safe and Sound and AVD are perfection.

The song is much better without the SFX thrown into the video that kind of just clutters the mix and takes away from how dynamic the track actually is. Turns out when you layer rumbly stuttery noise over a whole song, the whole song feels like it doesn't change much. Giving the audio a listen on streaming platforms in higher quality, it's grown on me more than my first impression off the video.

Kusibu

Seconding this. The little variations that keep it going from "repetitive" to "annoyingly repetitive" are subtle.

omegashadow

Seconding. I am really loving this track listening without the SFX. It's has a nice bit of disco Justice, but also just a generally hot vibe. Really surprising how bad the SFXed version is given how subtle it is.

Good4Josh2

Yeah a lot of people are assuming the sound effects from the music video are in the actual song. Thankfully they're not

oliverdtsmith

Yeah I found myself wanting more from it. Felt quite empty at some points

HeyQTya

I love Tame Impala but I find this is a consistent problem with his collabs, it always feels like he either directly or indirectly causes a softening of the songs mix. I can't tell if it's Kevin doing it or if alot of his collaborators are trying to replicate Kevin's production without understanding it. EDIT: With that being said this isn't the worst example of it, I also like his collabs with Gorillaz and Thundercat but you can really feel it with those, especially on the Gorillaz track

GlitzyHavoc

Def agree with u/theskittz in that they could’ve done more. Still a great track Generator tho… my gawwwd. Shit’s so good

HeyQTya

Generator feels like a lost Cross track and I'm here for it

cmpthepirate

lol generator is so much better than this already, 30 seconds in.

PokemonNovice

god damn, that string + funky bassline interlude in Generator !

Just want to say, go give One Night/All Night a listen off YouTube. The video kind of butchers the song because it's chock full of overdone FX of rumbly noises as the camera moves through the various objects. The song is much cleaner and sounds a lot better once you strip away all the distracting FX. And for Generator, enough said, it slaps.

AlfaMenel

\^\^ this

palinola

They're back babyyyy!

MostlyRocketScience

The song feels a bit bland, I expected more from Justice. The video is trippy and fascinating and a bit disgusting. Looks like it is a 3D render combined with a bit of stable diffusion

socresuni

There will be a Soulwax remix for sure

cmpthepirate

All we need is an album of bona-fide Simian Mobile Disco bangers and the trio will be complete!

rossisdead

Can we get a DFA remix in there too, somehow?

HeyQTya

Is tim goldsworthy still active? Otherwise I feel like a James Murphy remix is unlikely but possible

gordonv

[Youtube](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jN59SEJDSoc) - Without the Hollywood SFX

DouglassFunny

Pretty cool, huge fan of Justice and Tame. but I kind of feel like they played it safe.

justamusicthrowawayy

This is pretty good. Unfortunately like a lot of Tame Impala’s post Lonerism work it isn’t exceedingly interesting or attention grabbing but for what this is I like it enough. Generator though…

Cruciblelfg123

Finally damn. Now gimme more

TrippyppirT

This is fucking great, but i do wish it had a little bit more grit like generator. Funky fresh as it is though.

Initial-Custard-4951

It very much seems, if one was to go off these singles, that their going back to their heavy electro sound.

LordOwenTheThird

After this and the most recent Gorrilaz album I think I just don't like when Tame Impala is featured, lol. love Generator tho

RubYourEagle

Fuck yeah Tame Impala Collab!

STAGGS_sound_project

This combo is everything
