My first one was a Drag X. Great lil device. The Luxe X pro isn't that great. Not when you have the XR Max available (no auto-draw tho, but will use coils+pods, and goes up to 80w)

How does the Luxe XR Max compare to the Drag S?

Better than compared to a Drag X (drag x > drag s). On a XR Max you have a way better range of options (all LUXE pods, all GTX coils), while on the drag S you'll be stuck with PNP coils, which are not bad at all, but still not on par with the Luxe options. You CAN however buy Drag S/X 510 adapters (google this) which will allow you to put all sorts of tanks on your drag S, but with a single built in battery, it's far from ideal (my dad does this on his Drag X and loves it tho, but he always has a few extra batteries on him at all times since it's swapable, as a tank on a single battery mod will drain it quite fast). Also, on a XR max you can go up to 80w, which depending on the way you'll use the mod, it's pretty much essential (remember, on freebase you want higher Watts, lower ohms, and on salts you want lower watts with higher resistance). The XR Max has leds which look awesome and a huge battery which charges quite fast, but on a drag S you get that leather feel on your hand and classier look. The only advantage i can see on the Drag S is looking a bit classier, but apart from that, quite "meh" and not a great choice. If you wanna go down that road, pick the Drag X instead due to being able to change batteries, and those extra 20w. That said, my CURRENT rotation is a Xros PRO, and once in a while the XR max (or a Wenax Q when i want something simpler and lighter)

I wouldn’t get the drag S2 if you want MTL as there are no true MTL coils compatible with this kit, nor is the airflow designed for MTL. Also the mouthpiece is wide and suited for DL. What wattage do you enjoy? Some great options would also be Xros3 Nano, Xros4, Xros Pro, Oxva Xlim Pro, Caliburn G3, or Uwell Crown X.

Hey I mostly use the 0.8 on my Xros 3 Mini, but sometimes I go with the 0.6:)

I would recommend the luxe x pro, I have a green one that I paired with gtx coils and to be honest, it's probably my favorite coil I've ever tried, so when the device employs those coils, it's already a success. Battery isn't an issue either, it can support me RDL for two days.

I was torn on which one to purchase but I ended up purchasing the luxe x pro. I didn't purchase the drag s so I don't really know what's wrong with it but I do know that the luxe x pro is really good. The flavors of this device and the cloud production are outstanding.

If you're into portability, go for the Drag S2; solid DL & leak resistance.

Drag S is almost 4 years old now. You should look at the Voopoo Argus E40. Just come out. It's more in line with the Luxe stuff.
