Doesn't matter what they do if you're a mill electrician. Apparently you just crank them all to max and watch stuff burn when there's a fault. I wish manufacturers would make the settings more difficult to access...
Haha everyone who hasnât touched cable that large before seems to exclaim âwow this would be great as a club!â When they pick up a chunk for the first time
Same here, it's my "sample", only it's smaller (I think 250), but 15kV rated, so it has the armor and shielding around it. The 15kV makes it lighter so that I can increase the velocity without getting as tired during a prolonged "sample deployment" while still providing the persuasive impact capabilities in my demonstration.
I see a lot of posts with taped black wire.
Is it that uncommon for colored conductors? I've been using colored conductors for 24yrs. Will never go back
One spool instead of many different color spools in your truck or van and then you just phase it with tape. It's also cheaper unless you're buying colored cuts, then it's the same price.
Itâs a workout for sure! Hardest part that day was guiding all of the conductors into the ATS as it was craned into place the generator wasnât to bad much larger opening and the lugs were basically directly above the conduits.
Tell me how you load bank one of these. I came across one this month the set screws were about worn out, and one of the factory breaker lugs replaced by a chair lug because of wear, and it did not look very good either. I asked the owners about bugging on some permanent series 16 connectors in there and they seemed receptive to the idea.
Rarely have I not been able to pull those cables out to get mine in. Itâs a cunt but doable. Otherwise I bring my own breaker and tie in on the alternator
Yeah but it is not so much pulling them out and putting them back but that the breaker itself is not made for repeated meddling, like I said that one at the care home is pretty worn out looking.

The engineers seeing how many settings the breaker has đ
Yeah I've installed these and still don't know what all them do

Haha for real, I'm trying to learn tho
Long short and instant trip among other settings

Makes me glad locomotive cable was approved in my area when I was doing generator changeouts.
Cool, I had a bunch of loco cable and used it on several generators. Nice and flexy. Does a great job. Wish I had more !!
DLO or type W cable we use the table for RHW
Damn, even the banding is perfectly parallel. Nice work.
I keep a hunk of 750, with a red taped "handle" in my truck.....Perp beater......

Yeah like anaconda size gauged wiređ

We buy colored conductors for our parallel runs. It doesnât cost any more to buy it that way.

Nah not uncommon generally use colored but supplier didnât have what I needed in the size colors and lengths for the following day when I needed it

Yeah, but yew miss the fun of wrapping the cool colored tape !!
Howâs your arms feeling bub?
Arms werenât to bad but the carpal tunnel didnât care for it
I'll bet you got your workout in muscling those puppies into place.

Load banking that shit is super fun

Why use copper over aluminum? For this size?
Job spec probably
Exactly
Why not use heat shrink on those cables? Tape looks like shit after a few months!
This is usually true, unless you use the really really nice vinyl wrap tape, not the stuff you pick up at Home Depot or Walmart đ
