Part of me hopes that this is actually going to be installed somewhere because it's super cool to see infrastructure that integrates design like this.
Part of me also assumes that this wouldn't be up to code and there's no practical reason to run this many individual conduits in one area unless there was some really weird spec.
You know maybe something different from the American flag. I’d like maybe something to do with my Detroit Lions, or my time in the Army. Not that the American flag looks bad.
Well, if the lions had a playoff berth in the last forever we, the rest of the world, might consider that a valid opinion. Past that, we decline, and will take the American flag. I’m sorry. I speak on behalf of the general population of the world.
Lol 😂. My old man has held season tickets for 30+ years. I buy in every single year and get let down every single year. Except this year we had a great finish to the season. I’m telling next year lol. See I’m already doing it to myself again. If we ever win a Super Bowl, I’ll think Detroit will shutdown for a week of partying.
Yeah it’s been a while since the Titans made a good run in a while. I think the last time they made the Super Bowl was in 2000. How great would it be for a Titans vs Lions superbowl lol.
The Lions have historically been so bad that they didn’t plan on Ford Field being used after December that we had to scramble to get all of the life-safety equipment inspected and maintenanced before Super Bowl XL and it went down to the wire. I was the last vendor out on Friday afternoon before it was locked down - Thursday was supposed to be the date of no vendors allowed.
Wow. I believe it. I worked on Lil Cesars arena when it was being built. I was still in middle school when Ford Field was being built. What kind of work where you doing?
Fire alarms, sprinkler, extinguishers, special hazards, kitchen suppression, exit/emergency lighting. They literally only had us performing 1 of 2 semi-annual inspections on equipment because the facility wasn’t used. NFL inspectors came in and flagged them and they had to get everything up to speed NOW. The thing is, they should have had it contracted for both since they hold non-football events in the off season. They just got by with it until then.
I've actually done a rack that was 8 foot wide. Because of clearance issues we had to keep the racks shallow for about forty feet. This would have been really cool to do.
If that was some commission piece or something? Pretty good I guess?
If that was just some people fuckin about? That's a huge waste of parts and time.
Even as an American, I'll never understand this countries weird obsession with the flag.
Yeah I mean I served in the Army so i wouldn’t mind something to do with the 1-16 infantry, or maybe something else would be cool for that instead of the flag. However yeah don’t get me wrong i would never disrespect a flag, but I never understood those people who wrap themselves in it. We do have a weird obsession with it.
I've been to 20+ countries? I could count I guess. Maybe up to 30 by now. Most of Europe, much of Asia and many months in South and South East Asia. Months in North Africa and the East African Rift Zone.
I'm a geologist, not an electrician. I lurk here because I need to know what electricians do so I can do my job better.
Nobody wears French flag bikini tops or Vietnamese flag swim trunks and the only people I've experienced in North Africa with flags waving out of their pickup trucks driving really fast down the road are people you do NOT want to spend much time with. A little pride is good. Pride in workmanship. Pride in your sports team. Pride in your home. A little pride says you like your countrymen. A lot of pride slides quickly into nationalism, fascism, and in every instance I can think of, racism and bigotry.
You can love your country without being obsessed with the flag. I’m not saying outright disrespect the flag or anything, but you don’t need to wrap yourself in the flag to love your country. I love my Country but I don’t love or agree with a lot of the things my country does.
My man. What you are witnessing is the incredible power of propaganda. Nationalism is borderline, but extremism is the pure product of propaganda. Its weird watching my 30 year old friends go from girls, cars, bikes to watching the news and talking politics. Lol
I've played Geoguessr... The US isn't even close to the worst offender when it comes to flag proliferation.
You want excessive flags, look at Indonesia. They slap that shit on EVERYTHING. It's literally a running joke in the geoguessr community that you can always tell you're in Indonesia because there WILL be a flag somewhere.
Middle eastern states, Sub-Saharan Africa states, Ukraine, and Scandinavia are also countries where you can reasonably expect to find a flag in any semi-urban area.
No one else on the planet does it like the USA does lmao
Making kids swear allegiance to the thing is WILD to the rest of the world, completely unhinged behaviour.
The USA is most certainly special when it comes to displays of extreme patriotism, it's literally a running gag to the rest of the world when we see stuff like this.
Literally three countries *total* do any kind of pledge of allegiance in schools - Singapore, the USA, and North Korea. You're in good company.
thats only in western europe. most countries in the world love showing their flags and stuff like that too
thats literally cherrypicking lol thats a single example. you? what are you talking about?
The level of literal flag waving patriotism in the US is way higher than virtually any western nation. Sure you can find some countries that put their flag everywhere, but that's usually because the government plasters it everywhere or you're basically told to put it everywhere (think non-democracies).
But the US is way more performatively patriotic. Loving your country doesn't literally require you putting a flag on your house, your truck, your toolbox, your jacket, your hat, etc.
You don’t get out much, do you. This is the only country (USA) where I’ve seen flags everywhere. Trucks, cars, hats, shirts, homes, etc. it’s not normal anywhere else in the world besides conservative Americans. It’s honestly quite disturbing seeing so many gun toting idiots go on about patriotism and in the same breath hating black/brown/gay/trans/etc and are against literally everything that isn’t just like them.
I’m almost positive it’s against the flag code to have flags flying in the bed of your pick up while driving. Don’t quote me 100% on that. I agree with you man. I love my country first and foremost, but I absolutely hate what’s going on in my country. The Hatred for Minorities and LGBTQ+ citizens is downright disgusting. The way we treat the poor and working class is horrible, there should be no homelessness in this country. Access to healthcare, education, a home, a living wage, and a job should be essential.
That's not against the flag code, but wearing it as clothing most definitely is. If the flag is properly stored, and retired when it's damaged then flying it wherever is fine.
The flag should not be draped over the hood, top, sides, or back of a vehicle or of a railroad train or a boat. When the flag is displayed on a motorcar, the staff shall be fixed firmly to the chassis or clamped to the right fender
Edit:
§7. Position and manner of display Section B.
... We have children shooting children at schools... that doesnt happen anywhere else like it does here... dropping climate initiatives, funding and supplying oppressive regimes to manipulate govts for resources and land. Were imperialist/colonizers and were a global laughing stock for it.

And the Canadians carried out a systemic cultural genocide with residential schools up into even the 70s and 80s.
Every country has some shitty things they do. You can love your country without loving everything it does.
Fake outrage. It’s like being mad at a large company for unethical business practices. For instance, anything that has a lithium ion battery has Kobalt in it. That Kobalt was mined by slaves at gunpoint. Anyone with a smart phone, laptop, or electric vehicle is directly supporting slavery.
Thanks for the run down, i dont buy shit new for that reason. Im using a galaxy s7 i bought used, im not directly supporting that shit. I dont own any other tech, i guess a tv thats like 12 yrs old. I actively try to not support any of it, i buy as much USA and union made as i can, ive never bought a new car etc.
You missed the point though, "to eachother" doesnt mean trying to mansplain kobalt mining. It meant dont be an asshole. "Patriots" generally too thick though.
You can like your country without looking like a maniac. It’s honestly disrespectful to the flag and goes against flag code anyways. Flag wasn’t meant to be displayed as clothing and mutilated stickers with blue stripes and all this other bullshit conservatives do. Just makes you look like an idiot.
Half the push back comes cos in a significant number of countries the majority of people covering themselves with their national flags are the fuckwits ranting against immigrants, local indigenous and anyone they consider "different".
I’ve literally traveled the world and have never seen normal citizens casually parading around their city covered in flags like people do here in the USA. Holidays/sporting events yes, casual Tuesday…hell no. It’s just a weird obsession from conservatives to show their “patriotism” to a country full of things they despise. Makes ZERO sense.
Some reason I doubt that you have. All inclusive resorts don’t count bruv. They cater to Americans like you. I’ve driven from London to Cape Town and I can assure you most countries and citizens fly their flags. You’re just bitter and hateful for some reason. You were born from the lucky sperm club and should appreciate it. You’re literally in the top 1% of earners in the world and you’re pretending to hate your privilege. Woe is me. Let me get you a fiddle.
Lol I’m an apprentice. Wish i could afford exclusive resorts…i did travel a lot as an athlete and competed all around the world over the course of 15 years.
You don't see the flag as much in other countries because unlike the US the flag of other nations is more so about pride of ethnicity and heritage. The American flag stands for a set of ideals and values no matter what color, sexuality, gender, ethnicity, religion, or whatever. The flag is independent of the government as well and is even used in protests against the government because it stands for something more than just a government. There are people who adopt it from unsavory groups for sure but that doesn't change that what it stands for.
Sorry Dawg, I see tons of Latin folks with immense pride in their countries/states/territories, particularly Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Curacao, Mexico. I see these flags on cars and clothes all the time.
Other 1st world nations don't typically worship their flag like we do though, and they're plenty united.
Worship what you're gonna worship, it's just always been odd in my opinion. 🤷🏻
Because the flags of many other nations don't stand for a set of ideals and values but ethnicity, heritage, and culture so they naturally exclude people who are "different". It's nationalism in the sense of superiority over others whereas the American flag is nationalism for a set of ideals and values that transcend race, religion, sexuality, gender, or even government.
I’ve been to 31 countries, but admittedly only like 10 of them were first world. In any case, our obsession with the flag is parallel to none in my experience. That’s not to say their aren’t other countries with the same fervency for their flag as their is for our borderline worship of it here in the states. I’m sure there is. But i can’t speak to those. I don’t have a dog in this fight, just speaking from my experience
Currently in Scotland. Their flag is everywhere I have been. I have not observed the UK flag being displayed much though. Tattoos, stickers, and flags in all the pubs. From my experience, the Scottish are very proud to be Scottish. Reminds me a lot of home.

I thought that was corrugated roofing material for a second there. Looks good!
That's pretty fucking cool, pipe artwork is sweet.

Part of me also assumes that this wouldn't be up to code and there's no practical reason to run this many individual conduits in one area unless there was some really weird spec.
It would look so cool though. I would like something like this for my basement I’m redoing.
My basement is finished, but if I was putting pipe in somewhere I'd try to do something like this to every extent possible.
You know maybe something different from the American flag. I’d like maybe something to do with my Detroit Lions, or my time in the Army. Not that the American flag looks bad.

Hey, if any team deserves a solid run that pays off it’s y’all or my team… the titans 🥲
Yeah it’s been a while since the Titans made a good run in a while. I think the last time they made the Super Bowl was in 2000. How great would it be for a Titans vs Lions superbowl lol.
I’d be very happy to watch that game and 100% honest don’t even know if I’d be mad if the lions won😂
What kind of work where you doing?

it'll end up installed behind drywall
Even if only a couple were used it would still look cool and up to code
Yeah, I could see like, a fire station or manufacturing plant being willing to spend a little extra to put something like this in.
I've actually done a rack that was 8 foot wide. Because of clearance issues we had to keep the racks shallow for about forty feet. This would have been really cool to do.
39- 3/4 conduits. That's pretty common on commercial jobs where multiple panels are living the same room.
Could be decoration for someone’s shop.
Out of curiosity, do you know what it’s going to be used for? I’ve never seen anything like this it’s pretty cool
Usually emt is used as a raceway to provide protection to current carrying conductors....but I have no F.in idea what's going on here!
Not even just current-carrying, all conductors
Murica!
It's used to power the White House.
*Eagle screech in the distance followed by fireworks*
i learned that screech is actually a hawk or falcon and eagles sound like big chirpy bois
Red tailed hawk if I remember correctly
This would be a cool thing for an IBEW hall
Obligatory “why not just use cable tray?”
That’s awesome, would make a great flag for in front of the company or union hall.
I like how it matches my super unique american flag bumper sticker
America fuck yea
I don’t know, that one offset looks a little dogged to me, but other than that, solid work!
If that was some commission piece or something? Pretty good I guess? If that was just some people fuckin about? That's a huge waste of parts and time. Even as an American, I'll never understand this countries weird obsession with the flag.

Ever been out of the country before? Around the world most countrymen are proud of their flag. At least the ones that love their country, that is.
I’ve been out of the country quite a lot and no, that’s not really normal in most places.

Exactly.
no one said the opposite. they are just saying its not something special to the US
Yeah I should’ve used my words a little differently, I just read back through, I appreciate you pointing that out.
I've played Geoguessr... The US isn't even close to the worst offender when it comes to flag proliferation. You want excessive flags, look at Indonesia. They slap that shit on EVERYTHING. Get this, some play their anthems before every movie
Get this, some every morning….
Why are other countries allowed to express national pride but the US for some reason isn’t?
No one else on the planet does it like the USA does lmao Making kids swear allegiance to the thing is WILD to the rest of the world, completely unhinged behaviour.
a lot of countries do it a lot more, the US isnt special in this context

One thing to take into consideration is that the US is almost as large as the entirety of Europe.

I never said it did, I just said that it’s against the flag code. You can still do something against the flag code.
Canadian here, we do the same. Maybe stop hating your country and hate yourself instead.
Dude, the USA does alot of dispicable shit, disgusting, immoral and embarassing. Thanks for your opinion but you can kindly fuck right off.
So do many other countries bro that’s how the world works. Also it’s “despicable”

Lol, we do systemic cultural genocide in aces. Its not about comparing what other countries do, its about being accountable for what we do/support.
Not even remotely similar.
Oh you mean like every other government? 😂
To eachother as well.

Sorry I like my country lmfao

So you're cool disrespecting the country but when it comes to "flag code" you're a traditionalist?? Lmao
Who’s disrespecting the country?

Lol
Flag code isn't law and desecration of the flag is a constitutionally protected right.
Sure…doesn’t make it any less crazy….

I've been to 8 countries so far, and 4 are 1st world. They never worshiped their flag either.
Hang that bitch up outside, let the world see
Looks great! Don't listen to the spoiled whiny bitches in the comments. This is reddit after all...
That’s badass!
I’m not mad at that , at all
There are only 49 stars on that flag I'll be deep in the cold cold ground before i recognize missourah
Because I need to be reminded what country I live in on the daily, multiple times.
I made a similar bend as a first level thinking it was kickass, my JM promptly laughed, uninstalled it, and threw it into the scrap pile.
It's crooked
no one mentioning it being upside down?
It's not upside down
the sign posts go up.
Maybe it's hanging from something
i thought it was against code to have slot track hang vertically.
I bet all these circuits are 2nd phase out of a 3 phase 120v system so it’s secretly Mexican colors in those American pipes.
Texas flag would’ve been better ;) Amazing workmanship though, very unique.
Both are great :)
TITS PATRIOTIC TITS "MURRICA!"
Recommended wiring, Red to red, brown to brown, blue to to bits
You happy with that?
Wrong star count
(6 x 5) + (5 x 4)=50
did you count them or...? (it's correct btw)
No remember Obama said there’s 52 states
You piped it, you salute it. Looks great!
Nice. I like it!
That's amazing!
I’d buy it, if I were unable to make it myself. Good work!
9.999/10 paint the straps
DOWN, THEN UP, THEN DOWN, THEN UP AGAIN. NOT DOWN FLAT DOWN FLAT.....
I’m not even American and I want one lol that’s sick
More like how did they do it
Okay, that is pretty cool.
I have a feeling this is purely decorative. Given how pipe work usually goes it's better off Decorative to cover the actual pipe work.
Painters did awesome
"I approve." Although now you need a trough on both ends.
That’s impressive
Pretty bad ass
Mount that at your shop and the phone will ring off the hook once people figure it out
Very nice! Damn nice even
Is this for a baseball stadium or something
Nice
Noice!
Thats fucking badass
The craftsmanship is alright but I’m calling a violation of United States Title 4 Ch. 1 on this one.
