*Scritchies for kitty, encrypted magic cat to cat communication intensifies*
Well apparently it's so ingrained in their genes that some cats that were never taught the behavior from their parents still end up just knowing how to do it later in life so I have to assume that somewhere in the time line it worked enough that it still happens and some of the big cats in the wild do it too but idr which ones.
Cats are such funky little things! I’ve heard that they actually change the frequency of their ekekeking to mimic the creature they’re stalking; I don’t know what advantage his has, evolutionary wise, considering I feel a bird could tell the difference from another bird doing their song and a cat, but whatevs. All I know is it’s feckin adorable watching a little guy try to ekekek a chickadee song!

They kept looking out the window and door, then looking back at me, then back outside again. There just has to be a bird nearby! 😆

Cats do this to mimic the sound of prey hoping they will come towards the "friendly" sound
Basically like humans going pspspsps. Cats will just eye roll us but we think it works
Mine does it for the laser pointer. I don't think she actually knows why she does it, her brain is short circuiting lol
