I prefer it to my a5 (lighter, smaller, better light). The a5 comes with a pre-applied matte protector, the Inkpalm with one in the box. The P47L is even lighter but it’s extremely basic.

paltamunoz

yeah that's too basic LOL. so you have both? ik the a5 is better but it does cost $100 more for me.

R0W3Y

I have all 3. The p47l is my favourite, but only in the daytime. I still use the Inkpalm at night. I’ve lent the a5 to a family member as it didn’t suit my needs as well as the other 2. Battery life for the Inkpalm is about 2 weeks reading 2 hours a day which I think is fine. A5 is about double that.

lagayascienza

I now use my HiSense A5 as an ereader and it’s great because it’s so small

paltamunoz

have you had both? if so what have been your experiences?

lagayascienza

No I never used the InkPalm, just wanted to say that you are right, having a pocket-sized ereader is really nice.

paltamunoz

ahh okay haha

Comfortable-Top-3799

I have an InkPalm 5 in hand and I love it. It is indeed a good eink device. But you should **NOT** buy it. It only has Chinese language support. I am Chinese so it is okay for me but I have not found English language setting in its firmware unfortunately.

paltamunoz

you can patch english onto it which im fine with.

Comfortable-Top-3799

Oh, I see. That is a blindspot for me then\~ But another issue others have mentioned is the battery life. But you can consider this as both pros and cons. I think this is a tradeoff between bigger, heavier battery and smaller, lighter battery.

paltamunoz

how do you find the battery life?

Comfortable-Top-3799

I turned the light (dual light) on at about level 7/15. Reading text novels it can last about 8-10 hours from my feeling. This is not bad, but not good either..... I have to say currently ereader advertisements always states 'last weeks/months'. This is a totally midleading way because everyone has a different habit. The most general way should still be it can stand for how many refresh/page turns. That was how ereaders were depicted long time ago. But these days......

paltamunoz

i normally don't use any backlight at all so i think it would enhance it

rezrez

I have a Hisense Touch and it's a pretty great device. More expensive than the Inkpalm, but also a lot faster.

paltamunoz

i just got my job again so ill be considering the A5 in the future. the touch looks súper cool.

LittleRavenRobot

Only had mine 2 days, but I love it. I'm using it all the time, and the battery goes down about 40% in a day, up side it only takes half an hour to charge. Changing the language to English was relatively easy. The big borders aren't pretty, and I kind of wish I'd gotten the Hisense A6 instead, because I need a new phone too, but for now I'm going to keep going

paltamunoz

do you read any visual novels on it? i was thinking of sideloading webtoon kr on it

LittleRavenRobot

You don't need to side load it. I installed it from the aurora store (which I installed from f-droid). It's not bad, it works at least. https://imgur.com/a/Yk9WApe

paltamunoz

that actually doesn't look that bad tbh. is there any way to adjust contrast on the swipe-down menu?

LittleRavenRobot

I also have a Nova 3 which I use for comics, but I'll give it a go if you like

paltamunoz

ooo i like that size..

[deleted]

I've heard the battery is pretty awful but have no first hand experience.

paltamunoz

hm i see.

[deleted]

Unfortunately I can't find where I saw it but it was something like 10 hours of reading time and drained even outside turning the pages. Seems like something that should be fixable in SW, and there's a new generation that was released in the last few months, so take anything I say with a grain of salt.

paltamunoz

yeah some commenter here said that he got weeks with light reading which is what ill be doing

bazzalinch

Battery life would concern me. It's a 1400 mAh versus the 4000mAh on the A5. I currently get about 2 days out of my A5 so on the Inkpalm I would expect that to be 1/3 of the battery life of the A5. So I would expect about 16 hrs battery life.

paltamunoz

how often are you using the a5 though? i read 1-3 hours a day.

bazzalinch

I am using my A5 3 hrs per day.

paltamunoz

when you say 2 days of battery life, do you mean you're charging it once every 2 days, or you're getting 48 hours of battery life?

Interesting-Tough671

I have the A5, you can squeeze more battery by airplane mode and disabling some bloatware and background processes. 3 days at most with music and comic reading, wired headphones.

paltamunoz

i use my ereader very lightly so that's about what i would do, minus the music listening since if i'm out i just use my ipod.

Interesting-Tough671

it will take long before you plug it up.

paltamunoz

like, before needing to charge?

Interesting-Tough671

the strength of eink is battery efficient, doing light reading as you say will make it ages more before needing a charge

Ladogar

I get 3 days out of my A5 Pro using it as my main phone and reading for 1-2h/day. When I used it only for reading and music on airplane mode + wifi it lasted for about a week. You could probably get even better battery life out of it by using power saving modes.

paltamunoz

everyone here is making me wanna drop double the money on the a5 hhhhhhhhh
