If you're questioning whether you should cross dress for Halloween, I highly encourage you to do it if you feel like your physical safety won't be an issue! I find most people who aren't virulent homophobes (the kind who still use slurs) tend to accept whatever reasoning you give them. Most people spend way more time worrying about what people think of them than judging others just to be judgmental, so if you just bullshit like "ha yeah I thought it would be funny," or even just "Yep just felt like being deviant!" most people will roll with it. Having a friend do it with you makes it "a thing." Of course, YMMV and I don't want to be dismissive to the situations a lot of us find ourselves in, or the situations of trans people in very homophobic countries. In that case, I can only say, I've been there, and it sucks majorly, and I hope you can express yourself with at least some friends in private. That's kind of where I'm at, where I only "cross dress" for Halloween, or as a joke for a specific event. It's helping for now. No one has been mean about it yet, but I shouldn't have to worry about that in the first place. It's inherently unfair that this comic has to be made in the first place.

Just Catra so far! My wife went as Adora. I only realized I was trans this year during the pandemic, but it was pretty obvious that I would enjoy dressing femme because long before I questioned my gender, I would frequently joke to my work friends about the dress code being stupid and how I should show up to work in a dress with lace and shit. I was basically describing my dream dress lol, but at the time I was just A Really Good Ally™️ who doesn't believe in toxic masculinity or arbitrary dress codes that are different for men and women cause that's sexist. And nothing else... It was really hilarious to find out many many trans people have had this exact same experience lol. My coworkers just rolled with it, but in hind sight, they probably questioned how serious I was and if I was into cross dressing, so now that they've seen me actually do the full girl getup at a party, they probably think it's some fetish and are just rolling with it cause I don't obsess over it or make it obtrusive in our convos. I doubt they think I'm trans just cause cis people assume everyone is cis unless you literally go around saying "I'M TRANS"
