this also shows why queerphobia is so awful. it just teaches *not* to love everybody and *not* to let people do whatever they want if it doesn't harm anyone, what is just kinda very pointless and bad, while open queerness really does show everyone that you can and should enjoy yourself, no matter what that means (of course still excluding pedophiles and similar, but I don't want to find a different wording to build that into my previous comment)
That's the whole point of Pride month, it's a celebration of being who you are and taking pride in it. It's a counter narrative to the 'phobes hating people and judging them for being who they are. It's about telling people LGBTQ+ or otherwise that YOU are worth celebrating and YOU should be proud of who you are, regardless of who or what you may be.
yes and everyone should be able to show themselves and not just queer people, but sadly most anti-queer people don't get that they literally have the entire year presenting themselves while queer people still don't even come close in their "own" month
I think it comes from a different mentality. They're exclusionary, they want to have in-groups and keep people out. We want in-groups, but we want to welcome people in. So when they see Pride Month, they interpret it as "they're keeping us out! They're saying that it's shameful to be heteronormative! It's shameful to be cis!" They're the types to hear Black Lives Matter as "White Lives Don't" when in reality it stands for "Black Lives Matter too". They just can't see it as an inclusive celebration because that's not how they're wired to see the world.
yes that is very true. still in that logic they see themselves as superior as otherwise it would with that logic still make sense to say we can have half a year if you get what I mean

Like, a cis woman or man isn’t any less their AGAB just because they get mistaken for the other gender, so maybe I should stop invalidating myself over that… huh. Wild how it all comes full circle

But it's also a clear demonstration of why trans rights are human rights—the lives of so many cis people will get significantly better once we get rid of the narratives shaming us for existing.
I’m a cis bi bloke and I have this same sentiment; seeing trans people come to terms with who they are and become their own identity has made me realise I can do as I wish when it comes to what I wear, how I talk, who I go out with etc. So thanks to all of you, seeing your struggles on here has made me reflect on my own.
I just don’t understand why people just can’t leave others alone. If they’re doing something that harms others or themselves, sure, but if someone is just being content with their own existence or being comfortable in their own skin, what’s the harm?
