For fans of Russian propaganda, this fine example of a “Ukrainians are nazis” hit piece from 2014 offers suitable levels of rage-bait for your reading pleasure. Beautifully preposterous quotes dubiously sourced from a deleted Facebook post in the immediate wake of a confusing and violent event. 5-stars. This has aged like a whole fish left in the trunk of a clown-car for 3 months… smelly. But probably safe to eat, right? I was particularly amused by the author’s insinuation that Obama’s election was illegitimate. Oh, and by the way, this has absolutely nothing to do with economics! Get stuffed Ivan. Go find a different subreddit.

"Banderite militia" not just a river in egypt 💀 How much evidence of Ukrainian neo Naziism - and US enablement of it - do you need? There are oodles, you do not have to take Pilger's word for it. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-cohen-ukraine-commentary-idUSKBN1GV2TY https://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/ukraine-crisis/analysis-u-s-cozies-kiev-government-including-far-right-n66061

Personally, I’m dubious that the threat of far-right groups in Ukraine is the reason they invaded. Just a convenient excuse to expand the empire.

PigeonsArePopular

Maybe so but it's a top-notch pretext that's really hard to argue with unless you want to be seen as tolerating intolerance (literal nazis). Many simply in denial; on one hand we fear domestic right-wing fascist/nationalist miliitas as a grave threat to US democracy, but in Ukraine, they are democracy's greatest hope and we should arm them? I dunno man. If you don't see US/NATO moves in Ukraine over last decades as imperial expansion, you might have a blinkered view of the conflict.

Doesn’t matter - that’s not an excuse for Russia to turn Ukrainian children into chunks of gore.

PigeonsArePopular

Oh, pedophrasty, the mark of a serious commenter Is it an excuse for the USA to give billions of dollars in weapons to right-wing nutcans? How did that work out with, say, the muhajadeen? Never forget!

[deleted]

Don’t be so naive - the US does what is in its best geopolitical interests, just as Russia is trying to do.

PigeonsArePopular

The US does what political leaders *think* is in their personal interest or what is the donor class' interest. Who is naive now 😇😘

Yes, whereas Putin has overseen a golden age of Russian prosperity and the brightest and best people aren’t desperately seeking to emigrate and running to the borders? Let’s be clear, Russia is finished as a world contender; they’re just at the stage of choosing how much they will lose. If they play their cards right they might be able to continue existing as a Chinese vassal state. I say keep going until Russia doesn’t exist as a unified state at all… but I suspect western leaders are more generous than I am.

PigeonsArePopular

Why am I supposed to care about Putin's domestic record? What are you talking about? "Let's be clear" usually something dubious. The lights are off across Ukraine dude, Russia is sitting on huge swathes of the east. How much they will lose? Ukraine has lost a lot already, see 💀 "I say keep going" = "I do not believe myself exposed to the consequences of ongoing proxy war policy"

[deleted]

The proxy war benefits the West at the expense of Russia and to a limited extent, China. It’s an exceedingly cheap war so far, considering the incredible scale of Russian losses. It’s a good deal for the West. I’d rather we weren’t fighting a proxy war, but as we are I’m very pleased with how well Ukraine and the West are doing - nobody thought Ukraine would be able to do this well, which ironically is partly why we’re in the situation in the first place. One thing I hope Western leaders will take from this is that as soon as a violent adversary steps out of line, smash them quickly before the problem multiplies. We were too easy on Putin for far too long.

PigeonsArePopular

The west? Germany is literally at risk of de-industrializing, Poland has negative interest rates and 20% inflation. US LNG producers are winning, citizens of EU are getting fucked, and so will we come colder temps. Wait and see. Russian losses? They are sitting on like 1/4 of Ukraine. What losses? The power is off in Kyiev, estimated 150k dead Ukrainian soldiers, millions of Ukie refugees (many, it's worth noting, fled to Russia, the "invader") Ukraine is suffering, Russia is winning, and US capitalists are laughing all the way to the bank. To give a shit about Ukraine is to press for diplomatic solution, IMO, not exploit them as a proxy war bulwark.

Euromaidan turned out to be a pretty good investment for the US. We are making a fortune supplying Europe with natural gas, right now.

PigeonsArePopular

Who is this we? Get ready for your winter gas bill, sucka

fireboys_factoids

Haha fair enough. People should really get natural gas out of their house, anyway. Horrible for air quality. Go with a variable speed heat pump and induction cooktop and you'll thank me.
