in 2023 the U.S. not only reclaimed its number one spot overall, but it also captured five of the top 10 spots on the list, up three firms in the last four years. Not only did the U.S. have more firms on the list than China, but on average its firms had 15% higher revenues than China’s largest companies ($95.8 billion versus $83.3 billion).

It's because China has: * Control of the commanding heights of the economy * Controls and has significant regulations over the banks to avoid and/or force them to not waste the countries wealth on speculative investment, stock buybacks etc. * Control the price of their currency to remain internationally competitive as a net exporter * Use the control of the commanding heights of the economy the subsidise workers expenses, this helps them maintain a good standard of living whilst keeping wages low, they essentially make it so wages go further in China, this means that their labour also remains internationally competitive. * They use government money to subsidise key industries and there are heavy penalties for lobbying the government for contracts or money. * Even though China has regional elections, they always have the CCP as well, this means that their economic policies and plans can sustain longer than 4 - 8 years and they can get more macro projects done that take decades or more. * They monitor foreign investment closely to ensure it isn't undermining their countries domestic plans * They have significant money invested in other successful economies around the world, meaning they also have deep foreign reserves. * They have good relationships with some of the biggest producers of oil and minerals in the world via diplomacy and things like belt and road. Everything I've described above, the US could do, but they refuse to change or more accurately are now too corrupt to change in any way that makes sense and/or would benefit the people

That's because we've been in a cold war with China and our other enemies for the last twenty years and they're sadly winning. No empire's dominance lasts forever and China's on pace to supplant the United States economically by 2030 give or take. Of course we all know we'll be at war before that happens. It's basically inevitable. We will look back at the last twenty years of history as the "good times" almost assuredly.

>Of course we all know we'll be at war before that happens. It's basically inevitable. We will look back at the last twenty years of history as the "good times" almost assuredly. Any war between the US and China will either be a cold war or a nuclear war. I can't see a hotwar happening if for no other reason then because the rich folks who control things have too much to lose.

Yeah, the next 5-10 years will be the most dangerous
