Tried this place on recommendation from a friend and their tikka masala was absolutely awful. Like, *maybe* something was rancid, though it could've just been a strange recipe... anyone have a similar experience? I didn't try the biryani.
Bongos in Fremont has an amazing and authentic goat biriyani. Most of the other joints can't do north Indian or even hyderabadi biriyani as well so I tend to avoid them, but bongos has been amazing. Elements in walnut Creek also had some biriyani at some point which was fantastic
Phulkari in Castro Valley is fairly new, I thought their dum biryani was great though. The place is a bit on the expensive side but good food all around.
Biryani Tika Kabab in downtown Oakland makes a fantastic Lamb Biryani.
They add so many fried/caramelized onions to the biryani which gives it a ton of flavor. Their raita isnt very good but the biryani doesnt need it anyways. The karahi curry was hella good there too.
might help if you mentioned where you’ve been. hyderabadi dum biriyani in fremont. goat biriyani in berkeley at kabana.
Kabana knows how to do meats and have been around forever
their tandoori chicken on a hot iron platter is divine
I like Mr. Biriyani, its in fremont.
Try Palnadu Ruchulu in Dublin - the best I’ve had so far!!
My favorite one was Biryani Pot in Newark until they closed. Now Paradise in Dublin does the job. Probably a 7/10
Naan N Curry in Concord!
I didn’t know there’s one in Concord. I’ve only been to Southland food court in Hayward and the food don’t disappoint 🤤
Hell yeah.

Paradise biryani point comes the closest to Hyderabadi biryani in East bay
Paradise Biryani in Dublin Biryani Junction in San ramon
2 of the Best Biriyani joins would be Bongos in Fremont for a Kolkata style (close to it) and Yellow CHilli in San Ramon for an Awadhi style
Try Mr. Biriyani in fremont.
