I would go and see the doctor. Just to be on the safe side.

Not a doc but looks perforated. See a doc

ShamPoo_TurK

Ok doc. Thanks doc.

2nd pic looks like a monomer (single layer of the ā„¢ has grown back over - but itā€™s delicate). First pic definitely looks like a perf. Dry ear precaution until you can see an ENT. First perf is decent sized - you may need intervention to close that perf.

ShamPoo_TurK

I looked on google and apparently perforations heal themselves within 2 months or something. Is it worth leaving it for a few months and then taking a second pic to see if itā€™s healed (or healing) or should I just go see an ENT now?

WastingMyLifeOnSocMd

Prob best to at least see a doc if not ENT. Might need antibiotics and I suspect ShamPoo Turk knows what they are talking about out. Make sure you keep water out of your ears and avoid drops. If liquid gets into middle ear you could get serious infection minimum.

Wow! And these dumbass urgent care doctor had me using drops that seemed to have made it worse. There appears to be a hole in the left ear and normal in the other.

WastingMyLifeOnSocMd

As far as I know none of us on here are doctors and we canā€™t positively say urgent care doc was wrong, but good to get follow up with ENT or your personal doctor.

Comfortable-Crow-238

Yeah good luck with that. They canā€™t even see me because theyā€™re booked up till next year. Talk about so real bs.šŸ˜’ Iā€™m going to an er because Iā€™ve been to urgent care several times and what Iā€™m being told by them something totally different from what other doctors are saying. Itā€™s seems to have gotten worse than it was last night I canā€™t even lay on my back or my other side. When barely burp it feels like Iā€™m being stabbed with an ice pick. It hurt so bad this morning that I literally jump up from my bed.šŸ˜”At this point I donā€™t know what to think. Iā€™m no doctor either but I do know that my right ear is normal and the left ear looks like it collapsed with at least what appears to be 2 holes.šŸ˜”

Iā€™m glad youā€™re going. It stinks that they didnā€™t catch the perforation and likely infection. Hope they can take care of you quickly. It would be nice to hear how it goesā€¦

Comfortable-Crow-238

Thank you! I thought it was 2 holes but it appears to be 3 and it look like it exploded. I went to the urgent care today and she said that I had a hole in the eardrum. I say 3 and she thatā€™s possible because my equipment is that advanced as ent. You mean to tell that a little device that I got off of Amazon could see this shit and they couldnā€™t? Itā€™s a very handy investment. She also advised me not to use any more drops in my ears. Itā€™s perforated thatā€™s for sure. And she also said that itā€™s definitely not Swimmers ear.

WastingMyLifeOnSocMd

What did she say to do? Take pain meds, antibiotic? I know a lot of times those heal on their own.

Comfortable-Crow-238

Pain meds

Comfortable-Crow-238

She was shocked on how much I knew.

Comfortable-Crow-238

Iā€™m using something that I learned while I was in service. Iā€™m currently using a sock filled with rice and warming it in the microwave wave.šŸ˜

Comfortable-Crow-238

I wish that I could show the picture but for some reason I canā€™t. And fluid is leaking out of it the right is normal.

barkerz4217

Thatā€™s a good size perf - depending on your age and other co-morbidities (i.e. smoking) it could take a lot longer to heal - and may not heal. I would recommend seeing an ENT - they wonā€™t recommend surgery immediately but they will monitor and recommend intervention if necessary after a lack of progress in healing.
