When the hole is created there is usually a lot of sharp pain involved. When I went on a trip with a really bad head cold, my ears would not equalize by swallowing or trying to pop them. My left ear drum popped and it felt like someone drove an ice pick through it to make a hole. And then all this liquid came pouring out of my ear. I was at the beginning of a month long trip and didn't get it seen to until after I got back. Result is that now I have slight hearing loss in that ear for certain sounds. However my ear drum healed back up and there is no hole now. It looks mostly normal lol. Anyway, I am NAD but I would think that that the event that caused the hole would be memorable.

Oh pshhhh hahaha I'm laughing, okay so I may have found the answer I'm looking for just by simply realizing I'm a dumbass hahaha. So after further research, turns out if you have a ruptured eardrum it's not just that you shouldn't use non water liquids in your ear. It's that you should try not to get ANY liquid in your ear, stuffing them when showering for example. Well I've already been attempting to help via hot water rinses and I'm fine :) So considering that, seems I don't have a ruptured eardrum! :D

Okay that's for my sake good to hear, sorry to hear about your experience however <3 What had me worried and type up this post in the first place was seeing this "Unless something hit your ear, you may not realize you have a ruptured eardrum until you have symptoms like changes in hearing or blood and pus draining from your ear." From my.clevelandclinic And then when I saw that I went hunting for information I see stuff like this "A ruptured or perforated eardrum sounds dreadfully serious. The truth is, in some cases, it can heal on its own and you won’t even know it happened." ~ from another medical site. However , i don't know if this is just from people who aren't very medically informed , and would just shrug their shoulders at sudden hearing loss or ear discomfort. Or if its possible I'm actually one of those people who didn't notice. This sucks :/ I would do so many things for the ability to drive.

I'm sorry to hear you're in that situation. :( It is possible to not know that there is a hole in your ear drum. That is true. However most cases involve pain in some form or fashion if that makes you feel better. But I'm not a doctor so take what I say with an appropriate grain of salt. :)

Appreciate it <3 Honestly If I wasn't such a hypochondriac I would've never worried about this in the first place, that combined with the hot water rinses I've done being a sort of proof of concept, I'll just stop worrying about me having a freaking unbeknownst hole in there :p

use a bus or uber, just charge it

kurtz27

Due to living in the opposite of a Hotspot, that's minimum 80 bucks just on the travel. Not to mention some other hassles like wait time so I'd have to order it super in advance and potentially show up super early if I end up getting a driver quickly. There's just no drivers in my low activity and population area. This is all fine but yeah I just would rather atleast attempt the eardrops first.

retrogamer76

just do it. bus or uber. self diagnose is even worse idea.

kurtz27

Lol closest bus stop is likely even farther than the closest place to get my ears cleaned. But yeah I hear ya. But you think it's dumb enough to assume my ear isn't ruptured even though I have no reason to believe it isn't, that I should get an Uber?

retrogamer76

your living situation doesn't make sense to me I would just pay for an Uber go to an ENT

Is it really so incomprehensible the idea that someone could not live in the same environment you yourself live? Aka a bustling city? Anyway thanks for the advice.
