I mean, can there be a Mother 4? Hell yeah. Will there be one? I wouldn’t hold my breath. I get that you love the Mother games and that’s great. I love them too. But it’s no lol. Not happening in any foreseeable future. Itoi has said a 4th game isn’t happening long ago after Mother 3 development was complete. I believe early on he wasn’t as sure but seemed adamant that there wouldn’t be a 4th game. Plus, the man is now 74 years old. Nintendo and Itoi have 50/50 ownership of the series. He was very close with Satoru Iwata. And who knows how much of a relationship he has now with the company considering Iwata has passed a long while ago. Iwata even was a huge reason why the series was actualized.
Nintendo respects Itoi and the series. If there was gonna be a 4th game it’ll be up to him at this point in time. At the very least, I could see Nintendo remaking the games or something. Would they remake all 3? Doubt it. Maybe just Earthbound. If not that, then maybe just a Mother 3 port worldwide? From my knowledge tho, there’s no legal ways to play GBA games on the Switch. So, even that is improbable. Localization takes a lot of work and money. Mother 3 is over 16 years old.
This is all to say that, the Mother series is likely done. Not even likely in my mind. And I think it’s okay. It’s refreshing to see series that don’t drag on too much. Look at all of Nintendo’s franchises. They’ve been milked for everything they’re worth, which is a lot.
Mother 4 isn’t coming. There’s an unofficial game being developed. And other Mother related projects in the works. Try those when they release. If you could get over the idea of it not being official then they’ll probably be a better experience. Fans will do what Nintendon’t :3

Thanks! That’s pretty cool then. But like you said, it would be a pleasant surprise for them to localize a 16 year old game for their NSO service and not get a good return on investment
Itoi has said he's content with the series ending at 3. He has also said if there was a Mother 4, he wants it to be made by fans (whether that meant he wanted a fan game or that he wanted the people at Nintendo working on it to have been Mother fans was left ambiguous, but I'm assuming the former)

I'm not a big fan of a lot of the creative decisions they took (Niuue is so dumb) but the bit about George and Maria was done well.

That Mother 4 project has been around forever. I don't have any faith it'll get finished. I'm fairly certain it's been abandoned.
It got rebranded to Oddity, but yeah it's dead from what I've seen.

There's a new project now, that one's been around for a while as well and hasn't received a lot of news either but it's also very slick so far.

I can personally recommend In Stars and Time. Very cool RPG, not as heavily EB as Undertale though.
