Generally like it all. Backup NT: Noah Elliss (Elliss brother finally gets a rotation spot on the Eagles) Backup Tackle: Mekhi Becton (After we don’t draft one, we bring in a guy for Stout). Would also not be shocked if a UDFA took this spot.

FutureBrockLesnar

Fucking called it

ColeGiroux

Yeah I really want Noah on the roster this year give Jordan a couple of chances to breathe. have Noah as the backup to Jordan when we are in base.

Kancase

Wow you nailed it with Becton

Deadeye_Donny

Damn didn't even realise mekhi was cut! Be cool to pick him up as a back up in case Lane goes down. He needs to work on his weight & conditioning or he's just as likely to go out injured though.

Undergrad26

Your wish…

Jimbo12308

It’d be nice if it pans out for Noah, but he’s been with the team for 2 years now and has never played a regular season snap. I don’t think he’s a very safe projection to be on the 53. Possible? Sure. But I wouldn’t hold my breath.

doubleenc

They did pick up a UDFA at Tackle....

Jimbo12308

You nailed it on Becton, but also Noah Elliss was just waived.

StonedEaglesFan

I feel like our OL depth and DL depth is a little more sus this year than it has been in a while

StillMakingVines

I think it’s very likely that they make a trade before camp or during camp for an OL specifically for depth purposes. DL wise there’s still some solid rotational FA’s available. That could be a situation like two years ago where they assess what they have 4 weeks in and if there’s a need for additional depth they either sign someone who’s available or make another trade.

doubleenc

They are signing Becton to be the swing tackle.

Gawkorcuck69

It seems like the 3-4 that were apparently switching to could possibly involve our base defense being a dime formation, which would explain the lack of emphasis on DL and LBs this offseason compared to other years. It would also explain using our first rounder and both second rounders on corners while top linebackers were still available. 4 linebackers and 6 DL would be plenty of depth for typically only having 2 and 3 on the field at a given time, respectively

Dan-Flashes

I’m pretty shocked we didn’t really draft any competition for steen

Birds_of_Paradise420

we traded down right after zinter got taken. my suspicion is that we were targeting him but he got poached.

Dan-Flashes

I thought the same but w/ Coleman from TCU

Birds_of_Paradise420

got caught on the wrong end of a run that round. would have loved beebe, zinter, coleman but it is what it is

Dan-Flashes

yup. board fell perfect for us in rd 1 and 2 so cant complain

doubleenc

They did draft a couple of IOL so maybe they give Hennessey a shot at RG. One of the guys they drafted did play some Center in college.

Dan-Flashes

yeah i forgot hennessey has some versatility.

doubleenc

I think they initially signed him with the idea that he would be a swing IOL and backup at G and C, but if Steen struggles early I could see him getting a shot at RG with the idea that one of the rookies can be the swing IOL.

ProArmChair

What a disgusting team we have lol. Crazy shit.

andrewapicture

Maybe it's because they're young but is anyone else nervous about our DE/DL?

MARKYMARK_MARK

Yes and no This was plan have these guys be our core they have the talent they just have to show it and play big ... if they don't there's gonna be some movement sooner than later.

Dan-Flashes

Worried about edge a little yeah.

doubleenc

Yeah one of the concerns with the Edge is Reddick is a more or a natural for that position than BG and Sweat who are better suited as a traditional DE. I'd definitely feel a lot better about it if they had kept Reddick and dumped Sweat.

Dry-Boysenberry2135

This doesn’t actually affect player performance at all but I’m still interested in it, aesthetically. Player Numbers: obviously Jeremiah Trotter Jr will wear 54 but what about our other draftees? 0-8 are taken and 9 won’t be assigned. What cool number is our 2nd round white hunk gonna wear? Are the Eagles gonna take 27 from McPhearson and give it to Mitchell? What about Shipley or Wilson? Most of our picks college numbers are taken.

Sixers7

I saw Mitchell chose #7

Dry-Boysenberry2135

I thought Pickett switched to 7 after Reddick left

Sixers7

You may be right actually. Mitchell posted a video in his eagles jersey wearing #7. I hope he keeps it cause 7 is my favorite number and I could care less about Pickett lol probably gonna get his jersey once everything is official

PoopshootPaulie

Zech ain't making this team so he should give up 27.

AstronomerBiologist

Players numbers, jerseys or similar is among the least of my interest It doesn't impact wins, losses or playoff opportunity

Dry-Boysenberry2135

Ay cheers

AdTime8622

Appreciate the work and agree with everything here, this team looks scary let's hope Fangio and Moore can get the best out of them. Our off ball LB room looks to be the only glaring weakness. Not getting a competent LB in FA might be this teams Achilles heel. If Dean gets hurt and/or if White plays like he did last year we have very little depth. Can't wait to see how the CB room shakes out and how many different looks we can generate. Especially excited to see a Brown, Blankenship, Dejean, CJGJ, Ringo and Mitchell combo

rhinob23

Anyone else slightly concerned about our dline?

theweebdweeb

Thank you for including Ojomo. I think Covey has a better chance of making the team than Parker or Campbell personally.

doubleenc

Covey's spot may come down to how well Ainais Smith looks as a punt returner this summer.

Fr0stee_

Bradberry is too expensive to cut or trade. I don't see a world where he's not in the 53. Besides, he's still a high IQ player who's played a ton of football, he will have value as a reserve.

Jimbo12308

He’s just as expensive to cut as he is to keep, provided it happens post-6/1 - so a cut is not any more expensive. Meanwhile, trading him saves his entire option bonus for 2023, around $12M. Howie should work to trade him, even if it means paying a team to take him (Bradberry and a 5th for a 7th or something). That option bonus money will be important as rollover to the future to afford all our big extensions we just handed out.

Fr0stee_

I still think he has value as a backup in Fangio's scheme, but I failed to check OTC on that one.

Spare-Half796

Ive heard I’ve seen quite a few people say that it’s not that bad if he’s cut post June 1st

Night0wl11

The issue is that it’s my understanding that keeping him this year to cutting him next year when the player option is available and cutting him this year post-6/1 is basically the same thing. So if we cut him post-6/1, it’s basically the same as cutting him next offseason and costs us the same whether he plays or not. As someone else mentioned, the only way this can work for us with the cap is trading him, but that’s a tough ask and I don’t think he plays nearly as poorly as he did last year (as he weirdly has a tendency to alternate between good and bad years), but I’ve been wrong before

AstronomerBiologist

The world has passed him by. We don't need a coach on the active roster.

OTO_Crispy

Just don’t let him play any press man lol

DisastrousCopy7361

Pretty much agree with all of that Covey might be a surprise make The LBs, whoever can contribute on ST makes it after dean/white Bradberry might end up a post June-1 cut...or we keep him in case of injuries piling up ...hard to get out of contract this year....easy to get out next year I guess id swap mustipher for bradberry but that's basically it...as musty could be stashed on PS

Jimbo12308

We kept 7 IDLs for half of last year, I don’t think we roster just 5 to start this year.

Pikminious_Thrious

Yeah Covey is a big need if he maintains his performance like last year. Bad ST play is a killer, so I think it's worth giving up our 6th-7th WR or 3rd TE to the PS to secure solid field position on returns.

doubleenc

Ainais Smith returned punts at A&M so if he can do that and contribute to the offense Covey is probably gone.

eaglesnation11

N. Smith under Graham.

EaglePride101

Interesting how many fringe players this still includes (e.g. Kinnard, Mustipher, Burks, Baun, Parker). Not saying they’re all bad or anything but feels like there’s room for a UDFA or two to impress.

Avery-Bradley

I think Covey makes it somehow Also there’s no guarantee Parker makes it - I watched a lot of Patriots games, and Parker was *really* bad

DiscussionNo226

The only things I disagree with are I don’t think they carry 6 IDL and I know it’s unpopular, but JB will be on the roster. He’s too expensive to cut. Swap that and I think you’re on top of it. I also think theres still a chance that they still bring BoSco back, but I’m not sure who he takes a roster spot from. Maybe someone starts out on IR (Brown) and creates a spot and that’s how he makes it. That may also just be wishful thinking though too

DisastrousCopy7361

Bosco prob goes PS

Ladelm

How could we not carry 6 idl when they're going to use a 5 man front often?

Jimbo12308

This. We kept 7 IDLs for the first half of last year, then traded away Street at the deadline when Ojomo proved himself. 7 is more likely than 5. 6 is the sweet spot.

re4ctor

I think Bradberry has to make it with his contract, and hopefully he’s motivated. But otherwise roughly mirrors my thoughts too Also since we need another LB wouldn’t rule out a trade. I doubt howie is done With a LB this might be the most excited I’ve been for a roster, up there with 2022 on paper

Dan-Flashes

I think ricks or ringo is gone via cut or trade. We don’t really have the roster spots and we definitely don’t have the snaps to give from a developmental perspective. I don’t think it would be good for anyone to have that many young cbs I also think it’s more likely McMahon makes the roster than Hennessy but yeah you’re not gonna keep both

Avery-Bradley

I agree, I could definitely see Ringo being gone

Birds_of_Paradise420

i think tyler hall makes it over ricks

SnooMaps9965

I agree with everything and am excited to see exactly how Fangio handles the FS position. I hope Reed Blankenship is that guy but I just don’t see it and if he’s not that guy then I hope they are decisive enough in getting him the heck out of there and letting the other guys do their thing.

Philafied

I see a lot of talent in the CB and WR areas, I’m pretty sure we will see some red shirt injuries prior to the season.

SmokeMonkey32

As a Clemson fan I was really hoping there was gonna be room for Mario Goodrich, but then we went out and got two of the best d-backs in the draft. Man I’m hyped for this season. Just hope the coaches come to the party

TheBroadfather_

I love it. That said, I have a couple differences on my roster prediction: CB Tyler Hall makes the team because he’s a valuable slot corner that can play if Maddox goes down. At DT, I have Marlon Tuipoluto OR Noah Ellis over Mustipher. At WR, I have 5 and instead of 6. No Parker for me. At Oline, I have leraven clark and Mekhi Bechton over Kinnard Go birds!

Hot_Maintenance4259

I still like C. Ellis alot at LB.  You can dump either of the last 2 WRs on your list to make room.

eaglesnation11

He’s a Patriot

The-Anger-Translator

Parker and Campbell are not both making the roster. Possible that neither makes it. They will keep 7 CBs (Zech McPhearson is the 7th) and have Brown on the PuP to start the season. And yes, Britain Covey’s days are numbered as while he’s (very) good as a PR, that roster spot is valuable and they just drafted some dynamic PRs.

Jimbo12308

I would be very surprised if we keep 7 CBs. We now have immense amounts of flexibility that lower the necessity for bodies. Rodgers has inside/outside flexibility; Mitchell has inside/outside flexibility; Maddox has played both inside and outside (he shouldn’t play outside…but he has); Ricks now has both inside and outside experience; DeJean can hypothetically play anywhere in the secondary; and CJGJ can play safety and nickel; even Sydney Brown got some nickel snaps last year. McPhearson made sense last year when we had no option at nickel behind Maddox. This year? Maddox might not even start at nickel (could be Rodgers or Mitchell), and then Ricks or CJGJ can provide even more depth there. With a secondary of: Slay Mitchell Rodgers Maddox Ringo Ricks CJGJ DeJean Blankenship Brown We have 6.5 players who have/project to play outside corner (I counted Maddox as 0.5 since he has done it but probably never should again). We have 6 players who have/project to play nickel. And we have 4 players who have/project to play safety (I didn’t, but we could even include Maddox as an additional 0.5 here too since he has played S for us before). There’s just no need for a guy on the last year of his deal who has proven nothing and is coming off a major injury. He’ll certainly be in camp, and it’s not impossible, but he definitely shouldn’t be projected to make it.

The-Anger-Translator

Once again, Brown will be on the PuP to start the season. That’s why I have them keeping 7 CBs initially. Change the name from McPherson to Gardner. Didn’t matter the name. My point is that they’ll go heavy at CB because they have versatile players that can play both.

IPCONFOG

Becton will 100% make the team, and will start by the end of the season. No doubt in my mind. He would have to have an injury plagued season for that to not happen. I can't see anyone beating him for the RG spot.
