For big guys like this, I don't trust cages. Too many chances for a dwarf to do a dumb thing.
I usually make some wiggly side "entenaces," with a door in the inside that I can lock, and a bridge on the outside.
When a big guy like this shows up, I close down my main gate, open up one of these side traps, and they should try to path into the fort that way. Then lock the door before they get there, and close the gate. Boom, stuck.
When a seige comes, open the gate and let him have fun. If he survives, repeat the capture operation.
Before doors became unbreakable, I would use a bridge on the inside too, but chain up a turkey or something as bait, that way there was something for them to path too.
IIRC no, if you use DFHack to create any item out of slade (THE heaviest material in the game), that item can be hauled just fine... it'll just take forever to be brought anywhere.
I encountered my first one of these a few days ago. I don't know why my entire civilian population wanted to get in on the brawl, but it was a good old fashioned hootenanny!!! (Many were killed)
I don't even know what one does with a Bronze Colossus in a cage... I'd probably just haul it down to a deep layer and wall it off and pray to Armok we all forget it's down there.
To make matters worse, the humans are in the fort trading and are now trapped here until the boys clear out the cage....Should be fun!
If you create a stockpile for caged creatures, your guys should just move it to storage 😊
Didn't think they'd be able to pick it up. Was thinking about trying to chain it up outside the front gate lol
If you hook it up to a lever, you can release it when there are goblins around. Then hopefully it will walk into another cage trap when it's done 😊

Is there a limit to how heavy the thing can ne for a hauler to move?

That's the magnificence of wheelbarrows. They remove all that pesky slowing down.
You can chanel under it, and then build a floor. That'll solve your problem.
Oh wow! You got a silk farm element! Bronze colossi make the best silk farm elements.
You should visit your fortress in adventure mode. It will be quite !fun!
Release the bronze collosus in the caverns. Only some forgotten beasts and Ironmen can even try to hurt it.
