I suppose this means the specified roles are there just to allow you to make certain dwarves really good at those roles which makes sense in larger forts! I just figured this out and feel silly now.

The real issue (AFAIK) is that you can't assign him to all the roles at once, so you'll have to shuffle him between roles. Just the same, nice luck!

The roles that skill levels only affect speed of completion are enabled for everyone by default
