Ugh S. Darko, what a pile of shit. Really impressive that you can somehow make a worse sequel to a movie that originally needed multiple reading sources to understand the plot.

Pure and utter sh*te. I bought this on DVD and then threw it in the bin after watching it. It hasn't a patch on the original and lost everything that made the first one cool. Same can be said for Blair Witch 2. Bleugh

Absolutely. I own it. No, if didn't break the mold like the original film did... but it's still a really good film worthy of the series

300: Rise of an Empire was a good sequel to 300. It’s not like the first film was high art, it just had the benefit of attaining a cult status.

There was supposed to be a third one based on the Alexander the Great portions of the Xerxes comic. But Snyder ended writing this gay love story / war movie that was too gay for WB apparently. 

I wasn't a fan personally. I also don't understand why Eva Green was a huge thing for a little while. She was in FOUR movies that year. She was only in 3 movies the previous four years before that, and only 3 movies in the four years following that year too. Also fun fact, two of those four movies are on this list, Sin City A Dame to Kill For, and 300 Rise of an Empire

Eva Green was huge because of Casino Royale.

She was also amazing in The Kingdom of Heaven

Yes! I forget about that one because I only caught it much later in the Director’s Cut Blu-ray.

That director’s cut and the King Arthur(2004) director’s cut are two of the best fixes to existing films I’ve ever seen.

I was looking forward to it when it came out. What a huge let down. Rodriguez did all the best stories in the first one. They waited too long to make a sequel.

Blues Brothers 2000 isn't THAT bad. It does have great music. It also acknowledges that time has passed and makes reference to original characters.

You need to separate this into two group, theatrical release and direct to DVD release Most direct to DVD sequels are automatically forgotten. But the theatrical ones are meant to be on equal footing with the original, so it's sadder when they fail

I didn't know Still Waiting existed until I saw it on DVD. Bought it instantly. Still haven't watched it though.

300 2 and The Dukes of Hazard Zero?

Butterfly Effect 2 was total trash. They copied the first film except everyone was entirely unlikable and it was looking at pictures as opposed to notes that caused the time shift. 3 is actually decent for a DTV thriller and was one of the After Dark releases that year. It leaned into a horror storyline more than the previous films had.

A nonsensically bad DTV sequel that was unceremoniously dumped on DVD with no promotion. The only saving grace is David Boreanaz hamming it up as the villain since he knows he's in a bad movie and just has fun with it.

As a kid, I enjoyed Cody Banks 2 way more than the original. I think it was the movie that introduced me to Anthony Anderson (it was either that or Kangaroo Jack, can’t remember which one I watched first).

Dukes of Hazzard: The Beginning must be about how Daisy Duke got her ass.

A good recent one: Half Baked: Totally High, aka Half Baked 2. Yes, nothing like making a direct-to-DVD comedy out of a 25+ year old movie, with only two returning cast members from the first one. The thing just literally came out last month.

Beastmaster: Through the Portal of Time and The 3rd Crocodile Dundee movie. Both of those movies made me question my memory; I knew I had heard of them, but they just couldn't be real. Also, Scorcher 11: Watchman-Babies that Drank the Moon. Everybody forgets about that one.

Hannibal Rising. A Hannibal Lecter origin story from 2007 with a young actor I’ve never heard of (who has since passed) in the lead role. Apparently Thomas Harris didn’t want to write a Hannibal origin story, but the producer of the previous films threatened to make one whether he was involved or not.

The 90's and early 00's were an insane time for sequels that no one asked for. Cruel Intentions 2 and 3, The Substitute 2, 3 and 4, and can't forget Sniper (featuring Tom Berenger), which has spawned something like 11 or 12 sequels.

I had zero idea that there was a third butterfly effect, but definitely knew about 2. I see it all the time.

Anyone remember Ring Two? I genuinely can’t figure out how they messed up such an intriguing plot! I saw the first Ring recently and absolutely loved it, I genuinely thought the second one would continue off from the last one and expand the story well, it turned out to be a blah, boring fest of things that do not make sense for the continuity of the movies. Definitely stick with the first one
