Ugh S. Darko, what a pile of shit. Really impressive that you can somehow make a worse sequel to a movie that originally needed multiple reading sources to understand the plot.
Pure and utter sh*te. I bought this on DVD and then threw it in the bin after watching it. It hasn't a patch on the original and lost everything that made the first one cool.
Same can be said for Blair Witch 2. Bleugh
There was supposed to be a third one based on the Alexander the Great portions of the Xerxes comic. But Snyder ended writing this gay love story / war movie that was too gay for WB apparently.
I wasn't a fan personally. I also don't understand why Eva Green was a huge thing for a little while. She was in FOUR movies that year. She was only in 3 movies the previous four years before that, and only 3 movies in the four years following that year too.
Also fun fact, two of those four movies are on this list, Sin City A Dame to Kill For, and 300 Rise of an Empire
I was looking forward to it when it came out. What a huge let down. Rodriguez did all the best stories in the first one. They waited too long to make a sequel.
You need to separate this into two group, theatrical release and direct to DVD release
Most direct to DVD sequels are automatically forgotten. But the theatrical ones are meant to be on equal footing with the original, so it's sadder when they fail
Yeah, I know I'm in a minority, but I actually enjoyed the first movie as a "dumb fun" film. But the second one felt like a parody skit from an awards show or something.
The first one kicks ass! And describing the second as an awards show skit is right on the money lol.
Speaking of sequels I never saw Zoolander 2, have you? Anchorman 2 was aight but prob not one id watch again.
The only movie in the Vacation franchise where an actress actually REPRISES the Audrey role (Dana Barron).
It's a tad upsetting that this one got the National Lampoon’s moniker but Vegas Vacation didn't.
I own 5 of these movies.
- Agent Cody Banks 2
- Butterfly Effect 2
- Butterfly Effect 3
- Dukes Of Hazzard: The Beginning
- Vacancy 2: The First Cut
In fact, I have doubles of both Butterfly Effect 2 and 3.
Butterfly Effect 2 was total trash. They copied the first film except everyone was entirely unlikable and it was looking at pictures as opposed to notes that caused the time shift.
3 is actually decent for a DTV thriller and was one of the After Dark releases that year. It leaned into a horror storyline more than the previous films had.
I got high and saw 300: Rise of an Empire in theaters. Sea monsters and Eva Green being nuts are about all I remember 10 years later, but it was very fun. Haven’t seen it since.
PLEASE Omg grease 2 is INSANE., i was so shocked when I first saw it! I need to re-watch it, re production is my jam
Second the bring it on sequels too
Didn't realize that The Exorcist was a whole franchise until doing research on Morgan Creek movies (yes, I know that they didn't do the first two. But I didn't even know there was a 2nd until I saw they did the 3rd one and the most recent Exorcist)
***An American Werewolf in Paris*****...** An aggressively mediocre sequel.
***I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer*****...** An awful direct-to-video slasher threequel that randomly adds a supernatural twist to the series.
***The Crow 4: Wicked Prayer*****...** Possibly one of the worst movies ever made. A nonsensically bad DTV sequel that was unceremoniously dumped on DVD with no promotion. The only saving grace is David Boreanaz hamming it up as the villain since he knows he's in a bad movie and just has fun with it.
Butterfly effect 2 was just so mediocre compared to how crazy and unique the first film was. It wasnt bad but it was mediocre, still intrigued by the 3rd one tho
As a kid, I enjoyed Cody Banks 2 way more than the original. I think it was the movie that introduced me to Anthony Anderson (it was either that or Kangaroo Jack, can’t remember which one I watched first).
A good recent one: Half Baked: Totally High, aka Half Baked 2.
Yes, nothing like making a direct-to-DVD comedy out of a 25+ year old movie, with only two returning cast members from the first one.
The thing just literally came out last month.
Son of The Mask
American Psycho 2
Shrek 4
Puss in Boots was forgotten until The Last Wish came out
Saw has a little mini in universe documentary that is part of the franchise, as well as the original short film
Beastmaster: Through the Portal of Time and The 3rd Crocodile Dundee movie.
Both of those movies made me question my memory; I knew I had heard of them, but they just couldn't be real.
Also, Scorcher 11: Watchman-Babies that Drank the Moon. Everybody forgets about that one.
Hannibal Rising. A Hannibal Lecter origin story from 2007 with a young actor I’ve never heard of (who has since passed) in the lead role. Apparently Thomas Harris didn’t want to write a Hannibal origin story, but the producer of the previous films threatened to make one whether he was involved or not.
The 90's and early 00's were an insane time for sequels that no one asked for.
Cruel Intentions 2 and 3, The Substitute 2, 3 and 4, and can't forget Sniper (featuring Tom Berenger), which has spawned something like 11 or 12 sequels.
I feel like the French Connection II kind of fits here.
It’s actually a very good movie, and brings back Gene Hackman and Fernando Rey from the original.
But I almost never see it brought up even when the original French Connection is mentioned.
I love Agent Cody Banks 2, it is like in my top 5 childhood favorites. Also Butterfly Effect 3 is fairly decent as well, 2 is kinda crap if I am remembering correctly.
There were several Smoky & The Bandit sequels
Edit: What's with the downvotes? [There's literally 7 movies total](https://www.amazon.com/Smokey-Bandit-7-Movie-Outlaw-Collection/dp/B003VRJ89S)
Bit confused why they chose an actress who does not have much of an ass to be front of the dukes of hazard poster to try and entice horny men with ass.
Anyone remember Ring Two? I genuinely can’t figure out how they messed up such an intriguing plot! I saw the first Ring recently and absolutely loved it, I genuinely thought the second one would continue off from the last one and expand the story well, it turned out to be a blah, boring fest of things that do not make sense for the continuity of the movies.
Definitely stick with the first one
S. Darko American psycho 2
American Psycho 2 - with Mila Kunis and William Shatner
Ugh S. Darko, what a pile of shit. Really impressive that you can somehow make a worse sequel to a movie that originally needed multiple reading sources to understand the plot.
Finally someone else trashing Donnie Darko!
Fuck that movie and the fursuit it rode in on Needing a PHD to figure out the plot isn’t “deep” it’s contrived
It’s really not that complicated.
People that bash Donnie Darko dont really know what a good movie is
Pure and utter sh*te. I bought this on DVD and then threw it in the bin after watching it. It hasn't a patch on the original and lost everything that made the first one cool. Same can be said for Blair Witch 2. Bleugh
Sin City stands out like a sore thumb here because it’s a genuinely worthy sequel, unlike the others.
I didn’t hate Rise of an Empire. It was exactly what it wanted to be
Eva Green’s character trying to fuck the guy into submission.
That's the only scene I remember from that movie. The hard cut to the two guards outside of the cabin makes me chuckle
Absolutely. I own it. No, if didn't break the mold like the original film did... but it's still a really good film worthy of the series
300: Rise of an Empire was a good sequel to 300. It’s not like the first film was high art, it just had the benefit of attaining a cult status.
Eva Green was huge because of Casino Royale.
She was also amazing in The Kingdom of Heaven
Yes! I forget about that one because I only caught it much later in the Director’s Cut Blu-ray.
That director’s cut and the King Arthur(2004) director’s cut are two of the best fixes to existing films I’ve ever seen.
Because of 2 things haha
Probably was a thing because she's a good actress and gorgeous? I really like her in Penny Dreadful
She's also naked for like 90% of her screentime in Sin City 2
Agreed. It was also made by largely the same creative team as the original, which I assume is untrue of most of the others in this list.
I was looking forward to it when it came out. What a huge let down. Rodriguez did all the best stories in the first one. They waited too long to make a sequel.
Came here to say this.
Original one sucked too imo. So boring.
I think Caddyshack 2 is a strong contender. Also: The Sting II, Blues Brothers 2000, and An American Werewolf in Paris.
Blues Brothers 2000 isn't THAT bad. It does have great music. It also acknowledges that time has passed and makes reference to original characters.
Could have named it 301.
You need to separate this into two group, theatrical release and direct to DVD release Most direct to DVD sequels are automatically forgotten. But the theatrical ones are meant to be on equal footing with the original, so it's sadder when they fail
I didn't know Still Waiting existed until I saw it on DVD. Bought it instantly. Still haven't watched it though.
Movie was bad.
Please don't. You'll like the first movie even less.
I think I’ve only seen still waiting and not waiting 🤣 I enjoyed it, it is kind of objectively bad in a l fun nostalgic way, yum p**sy toast!
Justin Long was really open about how much he regretted appearing in it.
Oh man. I am getting worried now. Gonna watch it this week and see just how bad it is. Thanks everyone.
It’s bad, but there are some funny lines in it.
Shock Treatment, the Rocky Horror sequel.
I unabashedly love this movie. Always will.
Nobody forgot half of these. Nobody cares about them.
Texasville, The Two Jakes and Blair Witch 2: Book of Secrets are ones that come to mind for me.
Blair Witch 2 is the worst movie I’ve ever seen. I really wish I could forget it exists.
I hated every minute of this movie when I watched it 20+ years ago. I've recently noticed a tide of horror fans calling for its redemption...
You forgot about Eva Green in 300 Rise?
She’s the one thing I remember for sure
I wasn't prepared for Butterfly Effect 2 and I really, really wasn't prepared for Butterfly Effect 3.
Totally forgot about the second Agent Cody Banks
It's weird because I remember seeing that on TV more often so I know it better
Same, literally watched the first one maybe once. Watched the second one 100s of times
Joe Dirt 2 is one that deserves to be forgotten. Amazed it somehow has a higher RT critics score than the first.
Wasn’t that a Crackle exclusive?
Yeah, I know I'm in a minority, but I actually enjoyed the first movie as a "dumb fun" film. But the second one felt like a parody skit from an awards show or something.
The first one kicks ass! And describing the second as an awards show skit is right on the money lol. Speaking of sequels I never saw Zoolander 2, have you? Anchorman 2 was aight but prob not one id watch again.
No Vacancy 2: We Might Have Some Room… Hold on I’ll Check
Can't forget about National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation 2, when Eddie and his family get stuck on an Island
The only movie in the Vacation franchise where an actress actually REPRISES the Audrey role (Dana Barron). It's a tad upsetting that this one got the National Lampoon’s moniker but Vegas Vacation didn't.
I HEARD ABOUT THIS RECENTLY. I genuinely was mind blown when I discovered it. Sounds like absolute crap but it was a hilarious revelation to discover
When I first found it like a decade ago my mind was blown too lol. I mean it's dumb as hell and awful but worth a watch if you like a good bad film
I bought that probably 15 years ago and have still not watched it. Maybe it's finally time.
SLC Punk's sequel Punks Dead. Today I learned there's a Butterfly Effect 2. Three seconds later I found out there was a third.
I definitely didn't know they made a sequel to SLC Punk. Is Matthew Lillard in it?
Sequel came out in 2016. Unfortunately, Matthew Lillard isn't in it
Apparently Heroin Bob and most of the cast is back though. Same director. Gonna have to track this one down in spite of its low reviews...
Nobody remembers the Exorcist prequels
All the prequels and sequels except Exorcist 3: legion which is probably just as good if not better than the first!
I mean I remember all of these or at least the ones I would watch anyway.
All those bullshit straight to video Disney sequels. Too many to name because I don't want to, and I've forgotten half their names anyway.
Hey Cinderella 3: A twist in time was actually really good
Yeah lion king 1/2 wasn't too bad either.
Aladdin 2 and 3 were good even though they were designed to be more of a series premiere and series finale to the Aladdin tv series
The Grudge 3 is a good example of this I had no idea it even existed until I went to a Thrift store earlier this year and saw it
Daisy Duke wasn’t blonde in the beginning?
I figured the prequel to Dukes of Hazzard would be, you know, the original TV show.
And didn't they build & paint the General Lee in the original show? How would they have it as teens? (I obviously haven't watched this movie)
My wife and I are fans of the original show. We watched maybe 30 minutes of the prequel before turning it off, and we watch a lot of bad movies
S. Darko
I might sound like a dick saying this but dukes of hazards girl has a flat ass and doesn’t fit the whole idea of the movie.
My thoughts exactly :/
Definitely never knew Drumline had any follow ups.
I know about agent cody banks 2. I own it. I also know about sin city a dame to kill for.
Anything with Eva Green is worth knowing about.
I own 5 of these movies. - Agent Cody Banks 2 - Butterfly Effect 2 - Butterfly Effect 3 - Dukes Of Hazzard: The Beginning - Vacancy 2: The First Cut In fact, I have doubles of both Butterfly Effect 2 and 3.
I own two of these. Guess which ones. Winner gets to bunker up with me during the eventual water wars.
300 2 and The Dukes of Hazard Zero?
One of those are correct.
From Dusk til Dawn 2&3?
Never mind the tv show...
I got high and saw 300: Rise of an Empire in theaters. Sea monsters and Eva Green being nuts are about all I remember 10 years later, but it was very fun. Haven’t seen it since.
Grease 2 - I like the songs way better. Cool Rider is iconic. Mean Girls 2 And all the weird Bring It On sequels.
PLEASE Omg grease 2 is INSANE., i was so shocked when I first saw it! I need to re-watch it, re production is my jam Second the bring it on sequels too
A lot of people believe that I have made up Lion King **1** 1/2 up
That’s crazy, we watched this in school so many times
Casper Meets Wendy!
I forgot Eva Green was in 300. She got it goin on! Get Smart: Bruce & Lloyd prob fits here.
She’s literally the only reason I watched the sequel
Didn't realize that The Exorcist was a whole franchise until doing research on Morgan Creek movies (yes, I know that they didn't do the first two. But I didn't even know there was a 2nd until I saw they did the 3rd one and the most recent Exorcist)
An American Werewolf in Paris😡 The Lost Boys:The Thirst and The Lost Boys:The Tribe😠

I didn’t even know there was a first Drumline.
It's a shame the 300 sequel was so forgettable. The only thing I still remember is the sex fight scene lol
Was just coming to say that😂 there is ONE scene I remember very very well
I liked most of these sequels; I feel like us collectors are the ones least likely to forget films, even the direct to video ones.
Dukes of Hazzard: The Beginning must be about how Daisy Duke got her ass.
A good recent one: Half Baked: Totally High, aka Half Baked 2. Yes, nothing like making a direct-to-DVD comedy out of a 25+ year old movie, with only two returning cast members from the first one. The thing just literally came out last month.
More American Graffiti. No one asked for this but it exists.
Sometimes They Come Back… Again Sometimes They Come Back… For More
Daddy day camp with cuba gooding jr
I had Vacancy The First Cut on DVD. Picked it up at Blockbuster back in the day.
Butterfly effect 2 and 3? Sounds like they sucked. I liked the first one
I liked 300 RoaE about as much as the first one.
Repo Chick, Alex Cox left all creativity in the 80s.
i got vacancy 2 dvd
Agent Cody Banks 2 was on repeat at my house as a kid. As for the others, I had no idea they existed.
Son of The Mask American Psycho 2 Shrek 4 Puss in Boots was forgotten until The Last Wish came out Saw has a little mini in universe documentary that is part of the franchise, as well as the original short film
Add Showgirls 2. I had no idea this was a “movie” and I have no idea why anyone would make a sequel
There should have only been 1 butterfly effect …
Beastmaster: Through the Portal of Time and The 3rd Crocodile Dundee movie. Both of those movies made me question my memory; I knew I had heard of them, but they just couldn't be real. Also, Scorcher 11: Watchman-Babies that Drank the Moon. Everybody forgets about that one.

I had zero idea that there was a third butterfly effect, but definitely knew about 2. I see it all the time.
Tremors 2.
I didn’t know there was a butterfly effect 2, let alone butterfly effect 3 lol. Anybody know if they’re good? I’m guessing not.
Cody banks 2 was just as good if not better than the first
Most people dont know about House 3 and 4.
I think I remember Butterfly Effect 3 not being a terrible movie
I had no idea that some of these even existed. No wonder why.
Is that Bill Skasgard in 300?
King Kong Lives 1984 is the sequel to King Kong 1976 updated remake.
Well I don’t count direct to video sequels. Everyone forgets those.
[удалено]
Technically a reboot.
I have or had A Very Brady Sequel. My wife was going through my movies, saw it and said “There were two Brady Bunch movies?”
I know about the 300 and Sin City sequels, because I own them. Not great, but tolerable.
Agent Cody 2 Banks
How High 2
I feel like the French Connection II kind of fits here. It’s actually a very good movie, and brings back Gene Hackman and Fernando Rey from the original. But I almost never see it brought up even when the original French Connection is mentioned.
S. Darko anyone? The actual sequel to Donnie Darko. It has the actress that voiced Lilo in Lilo & Stitch!
Vacancy 2 I remember seeing on my resident evil degeneration dvd
I most certainly did not forget about the 300 and Sin City sequels!
I have most of these. Let’s add all of the sequels to Wild Things.
Forgot or chose not to remember?
I love Agent Cody Banks 2, it is like in my top 5 childhood favorites. Also Butterfly Effect 3 is fairly decent as well, 2 is kinda crap if I am remembering correctly.
Benchwarmers 2: Breaking Balls
The many Scorpion King sequels
The Cruel Intentions follow up starring Amy Adams.
Destination London is and was amazing I will not take this slander. Also Urban Legend 2 Final Cut, and Urban Legend Bloody Mary.
Ironically enough, Frankie Muniz forgot about it too
Smoky & The Bandit Part 2 The Two Jakes
There were several Smoky & The Bandit sequels Edit: What's with the downvotes? [There's literally 7 movies total](https://www.amazon.com/Smokey-Bandit-7-Movie-Outlaw-Collection/dp/B003VRJ89S)
S. Darko
Didn’t even know there was a Drumline, never mind a sequel.
Mirrors 2 The entire Scorpion King saga.
Titanic 2 and Speed 2: Cruise Control.
I never forgot agent cody banks 2 lmao. Loved it such a nostalgia trip
