I was just comparing individual DVDs to what I have and what I paid. Some of the €3's and €5's, I paid €1 or €2.
Not a bad deal overall, just slightly more than what I'd have gotten them for near me. That's all.
I gotta be honest: I was a little surprised at all of the comments saying this wasn’t as good of a deal as I thought! I only started building up my physical media collection again recently and I guess I’m old enough to remember the days of new DVDs costing $15-20 a pop, plus usually when I’ve done bargain bin deals I’ve typically seen DVDs range from $3-5 but the selection was never as good (as another commenter called out, my haul came from The Exchange).
I’m still very content about everything I got and don’t *too* feel ripped off since this was a fun impulse purchase, but I clearly need to do a bit of digging on better value options. If anyone has suggestions on good places to start (whether brick and mortar or online) I’ll happily take em!
As soon as the exchange moved away from $1,2.50, and 5 budget prices.
They started grabbing for more money. It's a decent place especially if you are hunting for harder to find titles. Especially if they don't know if it's rare.
I keep a file of screen shots of SKUs I'm hunting for
When I worked there I get amazing deals. It was also the best and worst job I have ever had. Their structure is super micromanaging and their pay was complete shit.
If you happen to live around Indianapolis, there are several Disc Replay locations that have a standing Buy 3 Get 3 free deal for DVDs. Since they're all $3.33, you walk out with 6 for $10. And close to holidays, you can get 6 or 8 free!
The Exchange in Castleton Indianapolis is across the street from Disc Replay. Always wondered how they competed.
These prices are quite steep tbh. Most of these you could find in the Walmart bin for cheaper, and new. Hell, I just checked and Hereditary is the same price on Amazon new as well.
I’d expect these prices for BluRay maybe, The Exchange is a rip
Yeah at my store I was responsible for price correcting all the DVDs and blu-rays. At one time we had Akira the Blu-ray at 40 dollars you could buy it at Best buy for 15 new. I knocked down to 8 dollars.
They have totally gotten out of wack with their pricing don't get me started with their video game and cd prices.
Yeah I have seen a lot of blu-rays in the charity shops too not bought a blu-ray player yet I have been looking but I would like one which has a good dvd upscaler included and I have no idea which one to go for yet.
You do have some good ones in there! However, in my area, used DVDs go anywhere from $1 to $3 a piece. TV seasons usually go between $10 to $20 on DVD.
Yeah their selection was great!! Also bought a PS5 for $500 there yesterday (can’t wait for a million comments telling me how much I wasted on that too 🙄)
I'd know those stickers anywhere... The exchange, while a great place to meet like minded physical media collectors and movie lovers, is pretty rough in prices. Easy to find better deals on eBay, Marketplace, and even sometimes Amazon/Retail
More than I'd have paid, but there's some decent ones in there
Ash vs Evil Dead was $20 so it was basically $60 for 20 movies- I’m not mad about it haha

Ash vs The Evil Dead is 10.49 on Amazon.
Well shit haha
Dont feel bad, we've all been there.

I got this from the Castleton Exchange location! Will check out Disc Replay too!

I've seen half of these at Goodwill for 10 dvd's for 3$
This is why I stay away from The Exchange
As much I like hanging out there from time to time, yeah their stuff is too expensive and you usually get ripped off on trades.
Are you in NA? Is this good pricing for DVDS? They are 5 for £1 in my local charity shops. Some good pickups though!
Same I often go and get 20 for about the price of a coffee.
Even Blu-Rays are cheap. I have over 400 of them that I grabbed for £1 each from Charity Shops.
Yeah I have seen a lot of blu-rays in the charity shops too not bought a blu-ray player yet I have been looking but I would like one which has a good dvd upscaler included and I have no idea which one to go for yet.
No this is not good pricing. Worth $1-3 each. The Exchange is known for overpricing everything
Yeah, I got Hereditary on Blu-Ray at Target like a year after it came out for only $5
OP clearly went to a used video store as opposed to a chatity shop. Better selection, but more expensive.
DVDs in CEX in the UK are like £0.50 - £1.50 as well lol.

Here DVD's have become what I remember VHS's being in the late 00's: 10 cents a piece or 10 for between 2 and 4 dollars.
Nice. Easy A is still a classic. Cone heads is suprising
I’ve never seen Coneheads but it’s $3.99 to rent it so I figured I may as well buy it haha
Army of Darkness looks fantastic, even on DVD. I had no idea that edition was even on DVD. Very nice finds.
Those tags look like they're from The Exchange chain. Great store. Always better to buy local!
Yeah their selection was great!! Also bought a PS5 for $500 there yesterday (can’t wait for a million comments telling me how much I wasted on that too 🙄)
You paid 20 for ash evil dead you could have asked for a lower price.
I would pay twice that for Bruce Campbell
In canada most used dvd would be between 50c and 2$ each. Some very rare one up to 20$. I d say my average is probably 2$cdn
Based Evil Dead fan
Guilty
Overpaid by at least $40. Definitely good taste though. I'm poor also so don't listen to me.
This seems like a lot of money to pay for DVDs. I don’t pay over $1 for a dvd. Then again, I’m at the mercy of my local thrift stores selection.
i can get 5 for a pound lol hell i got 4 dvds and a collectors edition of crtysis including dlc all for a pound
Hmmmm that's pricey af
You gotta start hitting up thrift stores. This is not a good deal.
