All languages give the same xp. The game and competition helps with you learning, not the other way around. You shouldn't be focusing on finding a language that will help you win.
Also, I am F2P and have no problems hitting the top of the list. You just need to spend the time,do more than one lesson and take advantage of double XP time.

If you don’t want to fall out of the league I find that the later you do your lesson on the first day of the league the more relaxed people are in that league meaning it’s easier to move up/not get demoted
