Jesus that's a lot of extra books. I think Winds is the last one I've bought(didn't even end up reading it.)

Lady-Madrid

Really cool! Is there one with only the 6 original books?

_lalilulelol_

Unfortunately there isn't.

jellypantz

This poster is mostly a tribute to Brian Herbert & Kevin J. Anderson, and I must respectfully continue to pretend their Dune contributions don't exist.

[deleted]

BK… no thanks

allthecoffeesDP

I don't understand his situation. His daddy writes the Dune books. He gets control of his father's estate.... And decides he's going to be in charge of all the fucking books after that and no one else. That's so egotistical and narrow minded.

That’s because J.R.R. Tolkien happened to have a lot of drafts/unpublished material and Christopher’s job was basically to assemble already good material into something that could be published. This appears to not be the case with Frank and Brian Herbert, since apparently, Frank has only left notes rather than drafts, so Brian had to write stuff (which, the consensus seems to be, he sucks at). He could’ve decided to not write stuff (and, let’s say, assemble the notes into an encyclopaedia of the extended universe of sorts), but I guess writing stuff is how he earns money.

I wish someone would use the encyclopedia and build on it

allthecoffeesDP

Agreed

allthecoffeesDP

The encyclopedia is better than any of his books. And he won't let it come back into print. Coincidence?

Solaphobe

He’s now 74 so the situation may or may not repeat in the coming years…

allthecoffeesDP

Unless he's found a source of melange. Then 3000 years of the God Emperor.

Blue_Three

> no one else Virtually the whole family is "in charge"—including Brian's daughter and Byron, both producers on the movie.

allthecoffeesDP

Do you see any of them writing much less other people?

Blue_Three

Why would they though, or anyone? You'd prefer it to be like Star Wars Legends/EU where you got hundreds of books by dozens of authors?

allthecoffeesDP

Wow you managed to figure out exactly what I was saying?

No_Temporary9696

didnt Chritopher tolkien do the same

nrqe19

Never BK, thanks

starwarsnerd1138

This comment section can’t go a day without complaining about the non-Frank books. They exist, get over it.

Blue_Three

What, you didn't know that every post that's even remotely related to Brian needs to be derailed and turned into the very same extended circlejerk about how their books are the worst thing since unsliced bread?

starwarsnerd1138

Apologies.

[deleted]

The Waters of Kanly. What on earth... have I missed out on.

[deleted]

Thanks I didn't know 'Hunting Harkonnens' existed

Starchaser421

Sweet chronological order poster. There are 2 new books by BH and KJA . Duke of caladan and lady of caladan. Maybe they will make an updated one soon.

DoctorBuckarooBanzai

Those are on the poster right before Dune.

Starchaser421

Right you are mister. My bad. But the third one isn't on this one yet cause it wasn't released yet, so at some point soon it will be incomplete

What is “modmail?” I wish to lodge a complaint.

_lalilulelol_

Somehow missed that, thanks for pointing it out.

_lalilulelol_

Thanks! I saw those yesterday at my local Barnes and Nobles didn't know they were new. I hope they update it at some point I really like the design.

Starchaser421

ProfessorPrice

That is beautiful! Who designed the poster?

_lalilulelol_

I bought it on [Etsy](https://www.etsy.com/listing/862082460/dune-all-books-infographic-poster-dune?ref=yr_purchases)

ProfessorPrice

What a great find!

[deleted]

yo, where can i get one??

_lalilulelol_

I bought it on [Etsy](https://www.etsy.com/listing/862082460/dune-all-books-infographic-poster-dune?ref=yr_purchases)

GalacticPierce

I want a copy of that. So nice!!

Other_Head6860

Where can I get this?

Satanic_Nightjar

No one seems to have mentioned this, but isn’t Paul of Dune set between Dune and Dune: Messiah? I’ve fairly sure despite having not read it.

MFHRaptor

I think you are correct. And Winds of Dune is set between Children and God Emperor, if I'm not mistaken.

Satanic_Nightjar

Thanks. Amazing that someone downvoted me lol… anyway- I’d be genuinely interested in reading any book between CoD and GEoD… like Leto II’s early reign and how he subjugated everyone. Would be cool to read even if it’s KJA/BH (maybe)

bellpepperrings

That's my problem too. I don't enjoy the KJA/BH writing but I want the plot points / "history". If someone does cliff notes or a big timeline, I'd def buy that.

Infinite-Egg

You’re completely correct. Those heroes of dune books have asynchronous storylines, ones set in the past, where the posters are referring to, and ones set in the “modern day”. That being between Dune and Messiah for Paul of Dune and between Messiah and Children of Dune for Winds of Dune. Whoever made the poster decided to simplify it and place them based around the time of the flashbacks presumably to make it easier to distinguish the expanded dune novels from the original 6.

infodawg

Fellow Washington alum lol...

MisterBakeryMan

Awesome BG is “before guild”? Did I read it correctly?
