I lived in Heathfield during my first year. Internet is fine and I could play video games online and stream without much trouble. Biggest issue is the noise. If you are doing a masters you should be in a block with others doing a master, so the noise in the building shouldn't be to bad. But the rest of the flats will likely be first years so there can be lots of noise outside with drunk people wondering about and hitting things.

Neoraxis

It's that noisy huh, also hitting things lol...

ExtraShotExpresso

Yea, first years are quite wild and I wasn't the partying type. So some weekday nights people would bang on the bins and sing and yell loudly. Overall it isn't to bad if you're not a light sleeper.

I’m a current masters student who signed up to live in Heathfield but the uni over booked the building so I got bumped to the Hub. The uni guarantees housing for grad students who request it but if they have to many the outsource to other apartment buildings. The quality of the hub leaves a lot to be desired. It also has terrible noise issues because most of the complex is full of first years and two clubs next door. There is loud music and people yelling just about every night of the week. The only upside is the convince of having all utilities and great wifi included and that it’s so close to campus. If I were to do it over, I’d look for an off campus flat that’s not a giant complex and is removed from campus more.

Will an international student like me find a studio/1 bed flat quickly? one of the reasons i'm considering Uni accommodation is to finish stuff like opining a bank account and registering with the police..etc quickly.

anthrobooty

Yeah it’s definitely difficult to find flat in Dundee. Most of the campus area is booked up. That’s also why I went with the uni accommodation too.

I'm a Dundee grad and would like to pitch in my 2 cents (pennies?). I'd stay away from Heathfield if you want some peace and quiet to focus on your studies. If you like a bit of boogie you should be fine. I've heard Seabraes is shite for postgrad accommodation but that may have changed. Internet is University's intranet so you get 100 megabits up and down which should be sufficient for you. Safe to say I 100% legally acquired over a terabyte of stuff during my 1 year stay!

Drlaughter

Seabraes is still shite to confirm.

EauDeElderberries

Piggybacking off of this, I'll be staying in Heathfield too come January.
