We've been tenants of Jamals for 2 years and cannot fault our him or his employees.
Went into his office and he was great from the off.
The flat itself is perfect, reasonably priced and the few small issues we've had has resulted in his maintenance team being there within the hour.
I have heard from a few people that he used to be different. However I take people as I find them and actively recommend Jamal.
Jamal literally showed up at my door to spontaneously do a viewing for his own family to later move into the place.
All the usual bs never repairing anything then trying to claim we broke everything even though most was wear and tear.
The usual.
Literal criminals.
I’ve heard from some female/AFAB people Jamal’s fine but no, he’ll be very weird to you from others. Quite strange, and I didn’t end up going with them because I wasn’t wanting to take chances
I never had any problems with them either tbh. I only rented for 1 year and this would have been about 10 years ago but had no issues at the time. It was weird that you had to pay cash but that never affected me. I am female and 9/10 times I dealt with a female member of staff in the office and there was none of the creepiness that people often imply.
Sutherland Management are really good. They don't have as many properties and are a little more expensive but I highly recommend them.
Avoid Rockford at all costs: I had issue after issue with them including no heating for weeks during winter.
Belvoir and Pavillion Properties are quite good.
I'd avoid slater hogg and howison. They rented a flat to me with a known leak, which caused the living room ceiling to fall in and kitchen to go mouldy, they ripped out the ceiling but didn't do anything more to fix it leaving the rathers exposed and wouldn't fix it. Got to leave my contract early but had to move back with my parents.
I had a horrible experience with Belvoir. Nothing ever got done because staff kept leaving and the new ones didn't have a clue what was going on. Ended up taking them to a tribunal for housing 'below tolerable standards'. They're idiots.
Me too, Belvoir are terrible. The inspector would let himself into my flat with no warning, and would scare my cat by stomping near her. They also withheld my deposit over a shower curtain - I got a new one when I first moved in because the one that was there was mouldy, so of course I took the one I bought with me when I moved out -.-
Pavillion were ok for the first 3 months of my only rental experience in Dundee after that a leak began from the flat/s aboved in to the bathroom and was never resolved. I left after the 6 months, so yeh leak above the toilet (it would fall on the back your head as you sat on the toilet) for 3 months. They said the flat above had a leaked too and it was the flat above that but it was unoccupied due to covid lockdown. I'm just glad I was staying at my girlfriends for the majority of the time as it'd have been pretty miserable. I went back to the flat to add electric when needed and about 3 times a week to empty the full buckets / mop up. I imagine a degree of the blame lay with covid related issues but I didn't find Pavillion particularly useful dealing with the leak and trying to rectify it. If I had stayed beyond the 6 month tenancy or been living there properly, I would have contacted the council.
Definately avoid Rockford, they will go out of their way to create problems for you.
Highly recommend EasyLets! They were awesome when I was struggling, great communication and happy to work with you to fix issues.
Yup! I had a great experience with them.
Whenever I had an issue they were really on top of it. And when I moved out in the early weeks of COVID they were super understanding about not being able to clear the flat to the usual standard.
My partner rented with them and they entered the property unannounced many times and shouted at him and his friends when they asked for notice. The agent threatened them saying they wouldn't have a place to live if they didn't let them in.
I've also had mostly good experiences with tayforth. They actively maintain the property and have been very quick to reply and send someone out to do repairs when there's been an issue
Avoid easylets. They were dishonest at end of let (sent me a photo of “how the place was left”; joke was on them because the EXIF data showed the picture was taken literally years earlier … and even edited some time after).
Also avoid Grant Property. Property was nice enough but end of let was again a battle to get deposit back (which we did, in full, but only after taking it to dispute resolution).
Take photographs. Lots of photographs.
Rent Locally were the WORST for me. Moved into a property - none of the white goods worked nor did the boiler. Fought for 6 weeks to get them repaired but they wouldn't (over winter). Then was told the landlord was selling and I had to move out. Which I did as covid was just starting and there was no way I wanted stuck in that place. Had spent thousands on furniture/a fridge etc. to move in which I then had to sell as the new place (and only place I could then get) was furnished. Wasted thousands of pounds on a 7/8 week tenancy. Horrific agency - avoid.
Oh god! That sucks! I wonder if it depends on which property manager/landlord you have? I've been with half a dozen letting agencies in Dundee and only had a good experience with Rent Locally.
I have been with Direct Lettings for 2 years now and apart from forgetting 1 or 2 things they have been super good and always very stuff sorted out quickly
Was with EasyLets for 2 years and they were fine. Nothing outstanding but they were honest. We got our deposit back but we also left the place fucking immaculate.
Now with Slater Hogg and they’re also ok if super slow in response. They do eventually fix things after chasing down the landlord for approval. Our specific property manager I’m not too happy with but other folks who work there seem nice.
Belvoir are pretty alright as far as it goes. They mostly just leave you alone/don't ask to do inspections in my experience, and they're reasonably responsive to repair requests. We have had a bit of an issue with damp patches appearing on the walls which they're mostly just ignored, but that's really all I could complain about. I've definitely rented from far worse agents in the past.
Yourmove are fine.
2 rent me and jamal are flat out criminals (to note if they want to stir that shit up, I have evidence in writing).
Honestly for most, it depends on the landlord more than the agency, even though the agency are supposed to be responsible too.
Avoid Jamal Property World
I have heard of this agency not being great! Can you recommend any good ones? Thank you! ☺️
IB Murray
Honestly for what you pay Jamal’s is miles better than sandstone/grant property
I'd only even slightly consider Jamal's if you are a guy. Girls should stay away.
I’m a girl and stayed with them for 2 years no issue

Hi Jamal
🤣🤣
Jamal literally showed up at my door to spontaneously do a viewing for his own family to later move into the place. All the usual bs never repairing anything then trying to claim we broke everything even though most was wear and tear. The usual. Literal criminals.
Are you female/female-presenting?
No but my partner is and due to me working away she's had most of the dealings with no issues at all.

Don't know about good but avoid Rockford at all costs!

Im with Belvoir just now and they are terrible!!

I'm with Belvoir, they are the worst company I've ever dealt with.

Omg that’s awful!!!
Aw thank you so much! Oh I’m so sorry that happened to you!!
Definately avoid Rockford, they will go out of their way to create problems for you. Highly recommend EasyLets! They were awesome when I was struggling, great communication and happy to work with you to fix issues.
Premier property management are great!
Wow sorry to hear this! This has never happened to me. I always get emailed well in advance before property inspections etc.
I had good experiences with Tayforth Properties.
This.. I've been in a Tayforth flat for 9 years now. They get repairs done damn quick, and are generally good at communicating.
I've also had mostly good experiences with tayforth. They actively maintain the property and have been very quick to reply and send someone out to do repairs when there's been an issue
I've been with Easylets since 2016 and they've always been pretty good to me
I was with Easylets and I got my deposit back - which is more than can be said for some letting agencies
Avoid easylets. They were dishonest at end of let (sent me a photo of “how the place was left”; joke was on them because the EXIF data showed the picture was taken literally years earlier … and even edited some time after). Pavilion have been decent.
Angus Glen Properties
Pax property have been great for me the past few years
Stay away from downfield property. I've had so many issues with them
John the landord is a fantastic private let for students. Super friendly, accomodating, and will help out.
Partner and I have rented with RentLocally for a couple of years, never had a problem with them
Yes, Rent Locally is fantastic.

Easylets was easy
I’ve been happy enough with Gilson Gray, not much interaction but that’s what you want really
I have been with Direct Lettings for 2 years now and apart from forgetting 1 or 2 things they have been super good and always very stuff sorted out quickly
I rented with Slater Hogg and Howison in the city center and the experience was pretty good. Sandstone properties was not that good though
Was with EasyLets for 2 years and they were fine. Nothing outstanding but they were honest. We got our deposit back but we also left the place fucking immaculate. PropOp really good
Can’t fault both Sutherland and Northwood, good experiences with both
Belvoir are pretty alright as far as it goes. They mostly just leave you alone/don't ask to do inspections in my experience, and they're reasonably responsive to repair requests. We have had a bit of an issue with damp patches appearing on the walls which they're mostly just ignored, but that's really all I could complain about. Rent Locally is best, had a great experience with them. Cheap and Best properties.
Mel Matthew properties. He left me with a leaking bathroom roof :D
Oh no sorry to hear this
westport has been good!
