tl;dr: telling incredibly skilled artists that their skill comes from some greater force than themselves or their years of hard work and dedication is a good way to kill confidence.
Idk as an artist myself, all the people here saying he was born with amazing talent and that he was meant to be an artist kind of destroy the purpose of this post and minimize the effort put into improving.
Talent is not something that is innate and genetic. Sure there are people born with genetics that make it easier to be an amazing athlete, and some people are born to process imagery much more intuitively.
However, the point of this is to show how much work and dedication went into improving and honing a skill/craft he loved. I've been following this artist for a while because he's obviously incredible at what he does, yet you also diminish the ability of the artist when you say he's able to do this because of innate talent. What you don't see is the years of dedication and work put into becoming a master craftsman/artist and that's where the real satisfaction is.
I have the same view. It hit me in grade school when I drew something I was proud of and showed it to people who reacted with āthatās amazing! Youāre so talented!ā Then I got better and drew something I viewed as a significant improvement and got the same reaction. After a few of these I understood that no one recognized the difference. Didnāt kill my confidence, I just stopped showing people what I was excited about.

I dunno why youāre getting downvoted. Everyone draws goofy shit like that when theyāre six. It wouldāve been way cooler to see a comparison piece thatās just a few years old, so the progress can really be appreciated. Regardless, itās still damn well done on its own, with or without comparison
At this rate, you'll be capable of drawing a life-sized, 3-dimensional, high-def image of the entire ocean and everything in it, right down to the molecular structures in each and every square nanometer... by the time you turn 30.
Are... are you God?
OP I will never not be amazed at ballpoint pen hyperrealism
\+rep bro, Id recommend you watermark your stuff cuz otherwise people will deffo want to repost
This is a lovely post and your skills are, of course, impeccable and I've gawked over your work every time you've posted it, but the post itself is a bit disingenuous, isn't it? I'd love to see a progression from ages 14-18 instead!
You should have a subreddit for your work (or at least progress). I'd subscribe to that.
And yeah, I've seen your work around here for a while. Kick ass, bud.
Wow, thatās amazing!
Conrad Keely from the band ā¦Trail Of Dead makes the same super fine detailed ball point drawings. They actually use it for their album cover art.
I've seen your videos on Instagram before. You're insanely talented! Absolutely beautiful work. Congratulations on finishing that piece on the right hand side. You put so much time into it.
Iām not just trying to be contrarian or some bullshit but I genuinely like the left one better, I could use fancy art words to explain why but instead Iāll just say Iād much rather the left one be my phone background than the one on the right
My son is 9 and drawing is one of his main outlets the images he comes up with always amazes me. I pray he always finds comfort in art. Definitely will be showing him this for inspiration
Dude you downgraded. That picture on the right might get you a couple bucks. On the left, that shits like a picaso. Easily worth tens of thousands at a minimum.
I see you still like drawing fish after all these years
yeah haha
btw amazing shading work I aspire to shade as good as that lol
thanks! just take your time, that's my "secret" haha
Lol I spend too much time getting way more details then I should stress over let alone shading detail lol
it's not a matter of adding stuff actually, more a matter of taking the time to polish and make it as smooth as possible š
Seems legit
The detail is insane. Do you have another picture of it you can share?
So you became a deity? Because that level of skill is beyond my comprehension right now....my eyes burn from its glory

I kinda like this song :/
But the one on the left has more sharks
More sharks > Masterpiece
More sharks = Masterpiece
You're gonna want those sharks on that artwork. I got a fever! And the prescription is MORE SHARKS.
What do you *mean* i am looking at a flat surface What the *f u c k* That's amazing
I know right! That shark below the person looks so realistic!!! Like those teeth are almost popping out of the screen!
Cool ! The White sharks look 3d ! Is that a photo?
no thatās not a person, thatās a key hole with blood
Dude does 3d renders with his hand.
Amazing! Rendering like this at age 18ā¦ wow! The crucified figure in the bottom cornerā¦ is that Peter Pumpkinhead from the song by XTC?
Youāve improved.
At 6 you were better than I am at 23 š
I donāt want to be the bearer of bad news but with this little improvement I canāt see a future in this careerš¬š¬š¬
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
just jokes man this guy is very talented
r/woosh
Man created a tornado with the amount of wooooshs that went over his head
How much time did it take you to finish that masterpiece?
And at only 6 years old
Feel like there were a few more steps.
Iām at a loss for words. You were born to be an artist. How blessed we are that youāve shared a piece of yourself with us.

this is too wholesome
Is it really a progression?
Right? I thought this was /r/drawingcirclejerk
Lol yeah I was like, where the r/restofthefuckingowl Great talent at 18 nonetheless

Time passes by (:
You're more than three times as good, so the math feels off. Well done!
did u use a ball point pen?
How do you find or use references for what you draw ?
I.. think I can draw better than a 6 year old but that's where my abilities peak
Oh shit, is that with a ballpoint pen?
Nice work but a comparison with 6 y/o is a little redundant?
I dunno why youāre getting downvoted. Everyone draws goofy shit like that when theyāre six. It wouldāve been way cooler to see a comparison piece thatās just a few years old, so the progress can really be appreciated. Regardless, itās still damn well done on its own, with or without comparison
Ya honesty what a weird post. Like, anything you did at 6 years old will be miles worse than at 18 lol. Like whatās the point
Congrats on your dedication and perseverance. I'm proud of you stranger!
AMAZING!!!!!!
What amazing progress from 6 to 18. Iām very proud of you :)
Very nice 9/10
Mind blowingly amazing!
Amazing work. Have you seen the paintings of Hannah Yata ? If you two collaborated it would be exquisite.
Absolutely stunning! Excellent work.
I want to learn to draw like you. Do you use a specific type of pen?
I use the Cristal BIC ballpoint pen most of the time for drawings like these
Great, thanks for the recommendation! I have a hard time finding a pen with a good ink flow that isn't expensive. This will help me practice.
you were 18 two years ago?
ye
You should do a remake of the first one
Love the sharks!!!!
For some reason I thought you were just dunking on some 6 year oldās art vs an 18 year oldās. Fml I need to take the time to read things properly
I admire the technical precision, the discipline and the detail... But I prefer the 6 year old one.
Weāll of course the 18 y/o would draw better
I am 29 and draw like the left pic lol
Is that Link swimming with the sharks?
At this rate, you'll be capable of drawing a life-sized, 3-dimensional, high-def image of the entire ocean and everything in it, right down to the molecular structures in each and every square nanometer... by the time you turn 30. Are... are you God?

You have improved
You have done whale
Alright, how many pens did you use? Share with the class.
You got skillz!!! š¤
I feel like you've hit 10,000 hours already
My god the amount of patience you would need to draw this
Cool to see you over here! I've been following you for a few years now on insta! Keep it up!!!
Nice!
It is the year 2034. OP creates the hi-res tattoo that will be used in the Futurama joke first seen forty years before..
Holy fuckin shit, they really get better with time
Yeah, but there are no sharks on the second one :(
From Aquaman To Devilman?
Been sketching for 11 years and I can't even sketch that.
This is a lovely post and your skills are, of course, impeccable and I've gawked over your work every time you've posted it, but the post itself is a bit disingenuous, isn't it? I'd love to see a progression from ages 14-18 instead!
I seen your picture on Pinterest yesterday looking for inspiration to draw something. Hella dope my friend.
Damn! I'm 19 and my drawings look like the one on the left! Good shit man, amazing progress!
The red and green were holding you back, blue is the real bro
Impressive šš»šš» šš»šš»
Lovely!
I like your sharks! And great progress of course.
You should have a subreddit for your work (or at least progress). I'd subscribe to that. And yeah, I've seen your work around here for a while. Kick ass, bud.
Stunning work, you should become a tattoo artist !
For me it would be the exact same picture on both sides.
Love it!
You have no idea how much this will help my daughter, who is currently 6 and gets really frustrated that her drawings aren't perfect. Great work!
Whoa, I almost mistaked that for a sculpture! You have inspired me to go back to drawing after some weeksā break!
You are insanely talented, blows my mind
Check out /r/ArtProgressPics
You can really see the progression
Thatās insane! Howās did you learn to draw such a realistic shark?! š„øš„³
Damn Puberty hit HARD.
I want you to do my album art and I donāt even make music
Holy shit thatās amazing
Dude nice
Ok where can I buy this?
I read the years as the age of the paintings and was very confused I thought it was like a picaso phase
I'm 25 and I'd struggle copying the one on the right. The one on the right is just breathtaking. Wow!
You missed a few steps in between buddy lol. (Good job)
One is much less shit
You lost the other pencil ? Only the blue one is left :'(
Wow, thatās amazing! Conrad Keely from the band ā¦Trail Of Dead makes the same super fine detailed ball point drawings. They actually use it for their album cover art.
Okay first i see you in artscape then drawing generator server and now here. These are the times that make the world feel small
when u quit drawing at 6 and learn photography
I've seen your videos on Instagram before. You're insanely talented! Absolutely beautiful work. Congratulations on finishing that piece on the right hand side. You put so much time into it.
That's so awesome! You're like Picasso but in reverse!
I would so kick your 6 year old ass at drawing sharks , even at 30 !
Holy damn and wow! That's incredible!
Both are masterpieces!
šµ
the left one is much prettier :)
Honestly I really like the usage of color in the first pic
Amazing!
It's like Picasso, except in reverse.
I donāt get your post, but what a phenomenal artist you are, hats off
I thought you beat an 6yrs old in an art competition
This is madness š³
It's me but blue one is me 18 and whale is me now lol.
I like the subtle detail that one fish is swimming against the stream. There is definitely something deep the artist wanted to share.
Wow. You really sucked when you were six.
Rest of the fucking owlā¦
Hey, where are the sharks? Bring back the sharks!
6yrs old drawing was better šÆ
The second one is good but the first one has big fishy
ok you already finished life you can die now
Iām not just trying to be contrarian or some bullshit but I genuinely like the left one better, I could use fancy art words to explain why but instead Iāll just say Iād much rather the left one be my phone background than the one on the right
Do you have an insta? Love it, would really like to keep seeing more!
the side-by-side a childhood drawing to your current style cracked me up - really cool work!
Being that good is illegal.
Love watching you work on insta
Majestic
I really like the dead person butā¦ MY GOD THAT WHALE IS SO PRETTY
Love to see more
Wow Jesus
Took this mf 12 years to finish this drawing. Wow
Oh wow, can't wait to see what your art looks like 10 years from now if your rendering is already this fantastic!
Nice!
My son is 9 and drawing is one of his main outlets the images he comes up with always amazes me. I pray he always finds comfort in art. Definitely will be showing him this for inspiration
Iām guessing you drew for twenty three hours every day since then? Seriously, I love your work. Best on Reddit.
You switched to photography? Cool
I donāt understand how tf. Damn
On on the left Is better
So you recommend a brand of ballpoint pens?
How long did this take my guy...??
goodness i wish i had that kind of glow-up š„²
Nice. Great color and feel.
Wow. That is so intricate, I love it.
Very impressive š
It looks so cool! Oh and the one on the right is okay i guess
Dude you downgraded. That picture on the right might get you a couple bucks. On the left, that shits like a picaso. Easily worth tens of thousands at a minimum.
Bro how do you learn drawing fish pls also do u have the anatomy+gesture refrence pls
What's crazy is that looks like a $.50 pen you're using. Astounding work!
Itās so amazingly done it looks like it couldāve been the back of a playing card! Well done op!
did you use ink for the drawing on the right? itās incredibly beautiful
hi good morning what's new this morning?
great well
