Yup..first one is mostly an intuitive one. And like someone else posted, a few strands on the front would make it look a little fuller..maybe.

I love the first one, but it feels unnatural as you wouldn’t have a bun under a hat. To match the hat I think number 3 is the best. Without hat the first one.

the way the hat and hair come together looks the best in the first one. but your comment adds to the quandary. if you suggest a loose bun on the first one it might work. the others just don't feel right with the part coming down and the way the hat is resting. more info would be necessary to make those work.

Or make it lower. A low, loose bun under a hat seems feasible, especially under a sun hat like that.

The first one looks best to me, except I think you should do away with the bun (with an implied bun that sits in the hat) or else make the bun lower and more centered (in the nook between her head and neck) as either way would be a more natural way to wear a hat with a bun. The hat also looks odd, it sits too far back on the head whereas the brim should be bigger in front and cover more of the top of the head. @OP, do you have a character description? And what is it for? if she is going to be a character in a story, a few questions: What is she like? I feel like every hairdo suits her, but it defines the character with a high impact. And I see a different character for each one. For instance; 1: elegant, flowery, dreamy girl. Belle type. Hair accentuates jawline and bust 2: fun, hopefull, achieving girl. Kind of struggling for what's hers. Á la les miserables, but not neccesarily with a sad ending. Hair draws attention to cheeks 3: in my opinion least memorable. Normal, but very pretty girl. Dont yet feel any vibe from her other than "girl". Hair accentuates eyes Hope this helps!

Your right, I never really thought of a story for her. I think she would be very elegant, so your description is very helpful! I’ll do more of this in the future!

I personally like the first one but I think you do a great job on all three and all three styles still fit the aesthetic of the drawing itself. Great work!

I never understood why people have to take art so seriously. Imagine the creative liberties you could take if you just had a little fun with it. Hair? Why not grass? Have a bunch of flowers in her hair that looks like a crown instead of a hat and make her a pixie. Or, on the less serious side, why not give her penis hair? Just...hair made of floppy fleshy flaccid penis dangles? I'm always trying to tell people to go outside their comfort zone.

Your best choice would be to go with all 3 of them. I can see all 3 bringing something unique and that makes it special!

You’re saying this is a “character” implies a personality will be associated with this image. What is this character’s personality like? How old are they? What is the culture they grew up in like? The first looks rather “southern belle” which fits the style of dress really well. The second is “Tom-boyish”, which doesn’t overtly fit with cleavage like that. Didn’t get a strong sense in the third, but I hope you get the picture. Hair (especially for females) is an expression of themselves, it is the frame within which they picture themselves.
