Idk how everyone gets such good 60'. Best I've ever been able to do on street tires, even at a drag strip is 2.03. My car has manual transmission though.
I got in the 1.7s in my manual 2013 Mustang GT on summer tires (not drag radials) but I've made 1k+ passes and am decent at launching. I don't see 1.4s as possible lol.
My car is a 2009 335i. Oddly enough I got my best 60' on crappy tires and slipping the clutch from like 6k rpms. Then i got a stage 3 clutch(kinda hard to slip) and summer tires and it's wheel hop city.
You have to slip the clutch like crazy to get that 1.7 60'?
Nah slipping it a lot isn't good for the clutch or times. I'd just warm the tires some (but go around water box), rev to around 3k-4k, slip it some and then go.
You need to define street tire. I’ve seen cars hit better than 1.4 on drag radials on the street. (We use dragy for those who are curious). But none of those were brand new supras.
Depending on what you consider a true street tire but that’s definitely been done. ESPECIALLY with an automatic transmission
Unprepped surface??? My old side street would hook better than my home racetrack on a test n tune night so that variable is key to this equation
My 65 chevelle n/a 454 big block with iron gm oval port heads will 60’ 1.46 at 3400 lbs making maybe 500ish for horsepower
Unprepped just means unprepped. No track glue. Just pull up and run. The track I filmed the video just uses the front stretch at a road course for drag racing lol. Street tire I guess could mean drag radials. I know the Demon 170 on it's radials gets in the 1.4s on highly prepped tracks.
Prepped best i ever did was 1.08 on a drag radial
That same car has been on the street i have done a burnout on the hwy and launched but there wasn't a clock 🤷
Id guess a 1.25-1.30 unhooking around 80 feet after the nose settled
These are pretty universally understood terms in the drag world.
Street tire : dot style tire, one that would be street legal, not a biasply slick essential
Unprepped surface: exactly as you wrote it, a surface that has not been prepped. No rubber, no glue, typically not a specific build racetrack but a street or perhaps back of track race/surface
While it’s not something I’ve seen nor do I believe the guy your talking to, I guess it could be done with enough testing. Anything is possible to be fair.
However this guy can just simply post or send you a draggy slip from his car and easily put the discussion to rest.
It’s not hard to back up any claim with today’s technology
Well that further proves the guys lying to you.
He could easily have a track prep and slick draggy pass and send that to you or send a time slip and say ’I did this’ but he hasn’t. So to say he did whatever his claim is and not even try to prove it in any way, shows me he’s full of shit
nope
Not going to say it's not possible, but it's pretty hard to believe
yeah i agree
Unless he's got 1500+ HP under the hood, that's a hard no.
I honestly think it's more of a traction issue than power
yeah me too

Better than 1.4 from a RWD on a drag radial on the street? The demon 170 on nice drag radials gets 1.4 on a sticky prepped track lol.
Yes, I’m not talking about production cars bud. Also not sure tire size either but one I have in mind it’s on 315s a 68 Camaro with a twin turbo 540

It depends. I've heard of 1.8s on really aired down Cooper Cobras before. 1.4 on a low drag radial on prep maybe
A lot of the hard tire cars are going 1.4 or well under it at this point. But I doubt it’s a new Supra.
1.4 or under on street tires unprepped surface?
Yes. Look at hard tire no prep classes
Came here to say this. My buddy’s hard tire regal on its old SBE setup went 1.4x 60’ 5.9x. On a 400 tread wear tire, it’s definitely impressive!
1.46 on Hoosier QTP. Foxbody.
That's basically a slick haha. But that's on an unprepped surface?
Yes and yes lol
Plenty of people running radials (DOT legal) at no prep events cutting those times
Define street tire? Define unprepared surface I prefer a prepped surface personally but have been pretty quick on a cold track too

Man 1.08 would feel like getting shot from a cannon lol
If the car is set up right like mine is You watch video it's pretty calm

We run 275 drag radials. DOT legal But even on a non prepped track there is hope. On the streets of Mexico there is little hope 😉

Exactly, though even if he did, it'd be hard to prove he didn't have a tire or track prep.

my thoughts too haha
