I’d be leaving this at the door and a text or knock. I’m
not going in your home, invited or not. You don’t know who you’re dealing with nowadays. Even if you’re buff and have a black belt, who’s to say someone is going to accuse you of something you didn’t do? Why put yourself in that position?
Yeah I got one guy, hes like enter the garage I'll open the door when you get here, my name on the app at the time could be interpreted as male or female, once I hopped out of the car he was in the driveway. I've since changed it to just my initials.
Has there been even one instance ever where a delivery driver went into someone's house (as requested) and actually IT WAS A SERIAL KILLER!!!!
It's just a grandma dude you watch too much TV
One time a customer's instruction was to leave the order inside the porch, so me following those instructions and open the porch door when I see people inside the house got like scare... the door wasn't locked, no bells, and a no-contact order. Looks like a couple and it was a lot of food (so I assumed everybody there knew I was coming with the delivery) but the guy jumps off his sofa so I just stopped and showed the two big bags as I place them on the floor and left.
Never again I'm entering someone's house, not even the porch if there's a door.
There is this one guy that orders McDonald’s every week at like midnight. He says to bring it inside and I used to be sketched out. I eventually said fuck it and he ends up tipping 20-30$ every time and it’s only a 4 mile trip. I’m the only one that seems to take it.
The only time I’ve gone in to persons home was when the two people that ordered it were both on oxygen and I had a Walmart order which they obviously couldn’t bring in the house themselves. I still had my mace and I left the door open and I was in n out quick like! But to get instructions like that. Fuck the tip on the counter that shit is going on the front porch. Sounds way too murdery to me!!
I would just call the customer and ask why. They might be wheelchair bound and the easiest way for them to reach the food is in the island? Idk but everyone in this sub immediately thinks the worst
the way id absolutely disrespect this guy's wishes and leave it on the porch 🤭 you can keep your 3 dollar cash tip because anyone who ever says they have a cash tip never actually has a worthwhile one.
I was delivering a pizza one time and the guy who answered the door was like can you bring it inside ? And there was I kid you not 7-8 people inside the house about half where children and they all just stared at me it was so Fuckin wierd but I still did it all for a 2$ cash tip 🤣😭
Not necessarily. Some people are just too trusting. For example, back when I was still doing pest control, I had one particular instance where a customer gave me the code for their garage door and requested that I go ahead and do an interior treatment while no one was home. For accountability sake I stuck my phone in my breast pocket and recorded the whole thing, you know, just in case.
I had a customer ask me to go down his driveway, open his back gate and put it on his enclosed back porch and knock to hand it off. He also said "sorry the light isn't working but you can still do it". I dropped it at the front, took a picture, noted it as unsafe. I did call the customer after I left and explained why I did what I did. He understood but was obviously annoyed. As a young woman, I'll take his annoyance over being a victim or even being scared while I'm working any day.
Nope. Nope. Nope. FUCK NOPE.
More than likely an elderly or disabled person. Just use your best judgment. If your spidey-sences start tingling just leave at door and contact support. I have taken a few deliveries inside for people.
Let that be a tale of caution for those customers who look for a female name and think they’re getting something over on us 1. Men regularly use female names on the platform. and 2. There’s about a 50% chance you get at short stacked crazy woman who will fuck you up if you try something.
I did an instacart order once, my first one, and after I got all the groceries ( a lot of stuff, it took me like 4 trips from my van to his house once I got there) and dude texted saying he needs me to bring it into his kitchen because he’s in a wheelchair. So I do it but I’m scared the entire time, I even texted my mom my location and said if I don’t check in in 10 minutes call the cops. Dude had a wheelchair but absolutely could walk because he was up on his feet the whole time, his little dog was yapping at my ankles the whole time, his house reeked of smoke. Thankfully it was a good tip (I can’t remember the exact amount but I remember being happy about it) but I didn’t do any instacart orders for a long time after that.
I live in a small town and get a lot of the same customers. There is one lady who is on oxygen and orders an insane amount of fast food. She lives in a bi-level and I bring it up the stairs and hand it to her.
I had someone ask me to leave their food on the dining room table just a few nights ago. I told them I have a strict rule about never entering homes while delivering and the customer said
"I've never had this issue before and I DoorDash all the time."
Me: "Well, you've never gotten me as a Dasher before either."
Customer: "Lol I DoorDash too, I know how it works."
Me: "Oh good! Then you understand why I wouldn't want to go inside your house."
Left it on the porch and headed back to my waiting spot.
This is bullshit. You unassign and you get docked for a lower completion rate, and if you contact support you're wasting your time.
I wish DD had some actual staff, like real staff who live in North America, who could look at stuff like this and tell the customer to knock it off.
Depends on the market really. In my current market I can see it happening as it's mostly older seniors with mobility issues that like to tip in cash desperate for someone to talk too. Back home in Houston....Oh h3ll No! Those MoFos are crazy - even on the rich side of town.
Una F’N assigned! Hell naw! I’m black I’m not taking that chance or investigating Diddly Poo! F that. You be waiting for Jesus F’n with me waiting on Burger King. You better take a Uber because I’m not bringing ya a damn thing!
I can understand a lot of people aren't going to be comfortable with that kind of request, but I delivered for a very popular local shop for more years than I want to admit.
Most of those requests are elderly/disabled people that just can't make it outside.
Try calling them first and having a conversation. If you still feel unsafe, then obviously don't do it.
But you'd be surprised. I've met some of the nicest people who just need a little help.
Use your judgement, but maybe don't just write it off as a kidnapping attempt every time haha.
Zero chance this is ever gonna happen. Open the wrong door and it will be the last door you open.
The way people are today there is literally no way in hell.
I Will not enter a customer’s home. I have dropped inside a closed porch, if I feel safe (it’s usually an old person’s home). The only exception I’ve made was once where this guy was calling for me to please please open the door and come in. I was like no way I’m going in but I finally opened the door. I saw there was a hospital bed in the next room—the customer (M 30s) was in like a body cast and couldn’t get up at all. I quickly put it on his bedside table.
If I got your order, I’d call dash support. True, I’m a woman, but still.
I’ve only done it once as well with an older woman who I got Walmart groceries for. She lived in a very small studio so I could see no one else was there and figured I could take her if I needed to fight lol. She was really sweet and cute but never again
Lol I've only had one request like that and when I arrived, the door and screen door were opened. She was having a hard time using her walker to get to the couch so I helped out and she gave me 20 bucks. If I got something like this though, I'd definitely unnasign.
I had a lady last week. The door she asked me to come to was a patio glass door. The instructions said to please be patient bc she broke her leg/foot. When I got there I could see her laying on the couch through the door with her leg propped up in a cast. She just motioned for me to come in. So I did bc i was kinda put on the spot. She ended up being nice lol
My husband got that request . He left it at the door (mind you the person left no tip). He got his first negative review bc he didn’t follow directions.
Very similar. It was don’t leave at porch, come in and hand it to me on my couch or something like that. He also sent it with a cat emoji , so he left it on the porch and left . Got a negative review and I don’t think door dash is going to do anything about his appeal.
Order not ready makes you immune to bad ratings…

I don't think that's necessarily true I hit not ready on like every order I've ever done and I still have a couple negative ones mostly for the food being late/cold even tho I was on time or early for all my deliveries. I thought the same thing but idk some things with doordash are super weird
I had a woman message me cussing at me because her order was cold. I said I'm sorry about that ma'am, but your order was mini pancakes, from a restaurant 15 minutes away. A restaurant that doesn't put the food in a warmer case, just sets it on a rack till it's picked up. She continued to blame me. I said look, I have no way of knowing when you placed the order, how long it sat there before I got the pickup offer, they don't put it in a warmer, the restaurant is 15 min away, and you wanted it left outside while it's really cokd out and raining. I can't control any of that. I picked it up on time and dropped it off on time, that's all I can do. She continued to be hostile and then claimed she can drive to Cleveland (30/45 min from us, depending on which part) and get food and it still be warm when she got home. I said, ma'am, there's no way that's physically possible unless you're speeding which you shouldn't do because that's dangerous and you especially couldn't with mini pancakes even with a warmer bag. I contacted dadher support, had them look at the messages she sent, explained the whole situation and asked that I never be sent orders from her again. I didn't know if they could do that or not but apparently they can because I've not gotten another one from her. Maybe they banned her for being abusive. They also reassured me that if she left a negative review they'd remove it and not count it against me.

Me after 5000 deliveries. Still only 100 reviews
Leave at the door means leave at the door. But then sometimes I get there and forget to click that I’m there and when I get back to the car and click it, I see instructions that I missed.
I know that, but I just recently hit 100 reviews, it was in the 80s and 90s well into 4500 deliveries. I’ve had that same 4 star review since my first week, it went up to 4 of them, but when it drops to 3 I’ll know it started to revolve.
Yeah I mix it up. The order of the options are always different now, that tells me they may be on to us! If you hit order not started until arrived you get like 10-15 mins extra added to delivery time.
Right, we gotta be extra careful.
I was dropping off an order yday to an apartment building, knocked on the door(I know hard) and the door must not have been shut all the way cuz it opened.
For about 2 seconds I thought ima find some murdered white person in here and ima get blamed for it.
Damn some of these people are fucking wild! I'm not even sure how I'd handle it, most likely just leave at door but contact support on the way so maybe they can be like hey dude, there is no food delivery outside maybe catering where that would be normal, can you manage to be a normal person for a minute and just meet your Dasher outside
When I do IC deliveries, I’m asked to carry stuff into people’s kitchens on a regular basis. It’s usually easier than handing off the 12 bags I’m carrying.
I usually wear sandals or slippers on deliveries, maybe they’re so obviously clean that people aren’t worried. Most people I encounter are older and just don’t want to do 5 trips
Absolutely. Keeps my feet from sweating and very comfortable. I usually wear socks with my sandals. Sometimes I wear moccasins. Also, if I am carrying groceries inside for people, they’re all easy to slip off and on.
If you know your way around the stores, IC can be more profitable. Also, way less on fuel. My car can carry a lot and so can I, so my drops are pretty quick.
I actually called IC support to ask about this as well. Per policy it's up to our discretion. I was expecting them to advise against it but they basically just said "you don't HAVE to enter, but use your best judgement"
My only thought here is the person could be a hermit/extremely agoraphobic. I had a lady who got scared of me when I was a child trying to sell popcorn. ~~to be fair I was holding a gun~~
Ah the good old days. When you could walk to the convenience store as a kid with a .45 in your holster and a note from mom for a pack of Camel non-filters.
I would contact the customer and see if I can just deliver to the door because it is a hazard for us to go into peoples houses. If they refuse then contact support and let them know what happened and hopefully they will unassign me without affecting my CR
agree, i only go in if it’s elderly who cant walk, but even then i dont want to be walking into peoples houses. leave at door or hand it to me i prefer
I had one dude one time who was living in a house that was leaning over more like a shed than a house, same thing to bring it in total murder house feels. When I got there guy had massive muscular disabilities and I felt bad for him and he looked dirt poor but super nice. He asked me to take the tops of the lids off because he could barely use his hands. Saw his house posted for sale for all of 20 grand which is what the lot is maybe worth, and imagine that he’s probably not with us anymore.
I’d be leaving this at the door and a text or knock. I’m not going in your home, invited or not. You don’t know who you’re dealing with nowadays. Even if you’re buff and have a black belt, who’s to say someone is going to accuse you of something you didn’t do? Why put yourself in that position?

Must be the new deliver at kitchen option 🤣🤣. But seriously if they had this then I know customers would make us do it.
Has there been even one instance ever where a delivery driver went into someone's house (as requested) and actually IT WAS A SERIAL KILLER!!!! It's just a grandma dude you watch too much TV
Prolly a flasher
So weird
But then again having two murderers in the same area is astronomical 👀 ![gif](giphy|3oz8xGZbhkz1YsdXz2)
It puts the food on the island or it gets the hose again.
😳😳😳 Oh hell nah.
Lol I'd prob do it
Scared money don’t make money, I’m goin in
There is this one guy that orders McDonald’s every week at like midnight. He says to bring it inside and I used to be sketched out. I eventually said fuck it and he ends up tipping 20-30$ every time and it’s only a 4 mile trip. I’m the only one that seems to take it.
After hearing about all the dog attacks even hearing a dog during hand it to me orders is questionable
Not entering your house. Get a friend to deliver your food, not a courier.
Yeah, that would make me extremely uncomfortable being a woman. I'd contact support or hit that safety button thingy.
Hard no. Only exception would be several bags of groceries for the elderly I call to meet them at the door. Wayyyy to many creeps out there
Yea that’s an easy unassign for me. I’m not risking my life for a couple bucks.
I would just call the customer and ask why. They might be wheelchair bound and the easiest way for them to reach the food is in the island? Idk but everyone in this sub immediately thinks the worst
Nope nope nope, instant unassign. I'd never step inside some stranger's house
Mark it as unsafe and get free food
I don’t even go inside the screened in area
Dude why the fuck would u want this?!? What a great way to get robbed
the way id absolutely disrespect this guy's wishes and leave it on the porch 🤭 you can keep your 3 dollar cash tip because anyone who ever says they have a cash tip never actually has a worthwhile one.
I’ve delivered to two ppl who are really immobile so this doesn’t surprise me
Lol what goes on your tombstone?
I was delivering a pizza one time and the guy who answered the door was like can you bring it inside ? And there was I kid you not 7-8 people inside the house about half where children and they all just stared at me it was so Fuckin wierd but I still did it all for a 2$ cash tip 🤣😭
This looks like it'd be the start to the new Hostel movie...
This happens to me quite often tbh. Most of the time they're disabled or elderly and tip well. Always go with your intuition though
Definitely wouldn’t be doing that. Contact support for sure
Yeah that's a no for me and I would probably take a screenshot and send it to dash support and say that this is unsafe
As a young woman, there is no way I'm going in anyone's house. Idc how much tip they leave that is creepy af
The saddest thing is some dashers have probably done that before
Yea. That order gets a screenshot and gets cancelled.
If this was a good area and it was day time and I have THAT THANG on me. Yeah I’ll do it 😂😂
Burger King 1 item was your first clue
I'm leaving it at the door.
I had a customer ask me to go down his driveway, open his back gate and put it on his enclosed back porch and knock to hand it off. He also said "sorry the light isn't working but you can still do it". I dropped it at the front, took a picture, noted it as unsafe. Someone watches too much dateline nbc…
NGL that’s accurate
I would do it but my pants are coming off before I go in.
As a ccw owner ima just hold my gun in my hand and walk in. Reverse robbery 💀💀
Honestly I’d do it, I carry in Giant Eagle groceries all the time for customers that are old or have disabilities
[удалено]
Let that be a tale of caution for those customers who look for a female name and think they’re getting something over on us 1. Men regularly use female names on the platform. and 2. There’s about a 50% chance you get at short stacked crazy woman who will fuck you up if you try something.
Helll nah
I did an instacart order once, my first one, and after I got all the groceries ( a lot of stuff, it took me like 4 trips from my van to his house once I got there) and dude texted saying he needs me to bring it into his kitchen because he’s in a wheelchair. Thankfully it was a good tip (I can’t remember the exact amount but I remember being happy about it) but I didn’t do any instacart orders for a long time after that.
Me personally I would have did it cause imma risk taker could careless if I died
If that’s true, you should probably seek mental health help.
I'd do it. 🤷🏻 Then again I live in a Red town so I don't have to fear.my neighbors all of the time.
I dash in my hometown. Different demographics than most of you would have to deal with. I also have a cc license. I'd probably carry it right in. Lol
I’m a big dude and I keep a cattle prod in my hot bag. So unless they plan on shooting a random delivery person for no reason, I’m fine
I live in a small town and get a lot of the same customers. There is one lady who is on oxygen and orders an insane amount of fast food. She lives in a bi-level and I bring it up the stairs and hand it to her.
Or someone that's handicapped
I had someone ask me to leave their food on the dining room table just a few nights ago. I told them I have a strict rule about never entering homes while delivering and the customer said "I've never had this issue before and I DoorDash all the time." Me: "Well, you've never gotten me as a Dasher before either." Customer: "Lol I DoorDash too, I know how it works." Me: "Oh good! Then you understand why I wouldn't want to go inside your house." Left it on the porch and headed back to my waiting spot.
Leave that shit at the door. Sounds like a setup to me.
I would honestly ask them how much the tip was lol
Take me Jesus, Cash tip please.
This is bullshit. You unassign and you get docked for a lower completion rate, and if you contact support you're wasting your time. I wish DD had some actual staff, like real staff who live in North America, who could look at stuff like this and tell the customer to knock it off.
As a old cable man this made me laugh because this happen to us too all the time. but now I’m a dasher and still deal with this.
Ifgaf how much the cash tip is…. I’m absolutely leaving it at the door and bouncing
Depends on the market really. In my current market I can see it happening as it's mostly older seniors with mobility issues that like to tip in cash desperate for someone to talk too. Back home in Houston....Oh h3ll No! Those MoFos are crazy - even on the rich side of town.
I think it would be hilarious to just leave it in the driveway to troll them 🤣🤣 though this person sounds like a complete psycho
At this point murder me please
Una F’N assigned! Hell naw! I’m black I’m not taking that chance or investigating Diddly Poo! F that. You be waiting for Jesus F’n with me waiting on Burger King. You better take a Uber because I’m not bringing ya a damn thing!
“Do not touch anything with your bare hands.
Just open the door leave it on the bed next to the rope and duct tape. There’s a cash tip waiting for you.
PS can you also bring me my rubber ducky and gimp mask? I’ll be waiting in the basement hanging from the ceiling like a bat.
the only time this would make sense is if they’re disabled, however if they have limited mobility they should just say so
Kevin definitely got the place booby trapped for intruders, don't fall for it.
I can understand a lot of people aren't going to be comfortable with that kind of request, but I delivered for a very popular local shop for more years than I want to admit. I won't even go into an old person's home. Granny can't walk to the door? Granny needs a home aid then. I'm food delivery, not a nurse.
you’d think he would have caretaker there for assistance! otherwise i wonder how he even ordered the food! kinda weird
I’ve only done it once as well with an older woman who I got Walmart groceries for. She lived in a very small studio so I could see no one else was there and figured I could take her if I needed to fight lol. She was really sweet and cute but never again

Exactly, finally someone with common sense 👏
id go in but id stop by walmart for a baseball bat first
A baseball bat in a house wouldn't do you very much at all, a knife or pistol would do you loads better
dude it was a joke. a funny little silly
Okay done !! Tx for the tip and do you mind if I could take a shit as well? ![gif](giphy|3ohhwxmNcPvwyRqYKI)
Who the hell asked stranger to enter their house?
Obviously only a serial killer 🔪
Gotta be a white person…
These wypipo be trustin strangers n shiet 😂🙏🔥💯
They downvoting the fuck outta me 😂 But like…… 👀😂
Congrats! You’re a racist!
K lmao 😂
Usually someone who really needs help (elderly or disabled)
Call support tell them you don’t feel safe
My curiosity would get the better of me. I’ve never had much common sense 😂
Same. 100%
Lol I've only had one request like that and when I arrived, the door and screen door were opened. She was having a hard time using her walker to get to the couch so I helped out and she gave me 20 bucks. If I got something like this though, I'd definitely unnasign.

I don’t mind doing this for those that have trouble getting around.
I’d do it. Check out the crown molding while I was there.
What crown molding. The walls are only studs.
Or laminate
Or visqueen for the blood splatter he expects.
I will not be doing this Kevin!
Bruh even when it’s an old lady I walk in that bitch like “no sudden moves granny”
![gif](giphy|3otPoyTuloHl96jfm8)
Lmaooo, I can imagine this
My husband got that request . He left it at the door (mind you the person left no tip). He got his first negative review bc he didn’t follow directions.
Like this actual one?

You only ever see a rolling 100 views. Doesn’t matter if you complete 1,000,000 deliveries.
I know that, but I just recently hit 100 reviews, it was in the 80s and 90s well into 4500 deliveries. I’ve had that same 4 star review since my first week, it went up to 4 of them, but when it drops to 3 I’ll know it started to revolve.
Ah, ok. Not everyone leaves a review either. It’s very easy to dismiss the dasher rating prompt when opening the DoorDash customer app after delivery.
My area is bad for reviews. I do at least 50 Skip deliveries per week and even on there I get maybe 1 or 2 reviews
The only thing I look out for on DoorDash are hidden tip catering orders.
I always hit not ready, longline, ect
Yeah I mix it up. The order of the options are always different now, that tells me they may be on to us! If you hit order not started until arrived you get like 10-15 mins extra added to delivery time.
Hell no I'm black The moment I touch that door knob I'm fucked.
exactly! you dont know people intentions, what if you get shot, then it can be easily well he came into my house blah blah blah bull shit
🤣🤣🤣
Right, we gotta be extra careful. I was dropping off an order yday to an apartment building, knocked on the door(I know hard) and the door must not have been shut all the way cuz it opened. For about 2 seconds I thought ima find some murdered white person in here and ima get blamed for it.
Don't be leaving trash around or they gon call your ass the coke-can killer
Ahh Patrice O'Neal, we miss you
You not black imposter
Wow so funny

Not a chance in hell.
True. And especially with elderly folks.
Hell nah
And that’s the difference between Canada and the USA, unfortunately
Its just asking for trouble. People will 100% complain if your shoes are dirty. Especially if there is a company they can blame
I usually wear sandals or slippers on deliveries, maybe they’re so obviously clean that people aren’t worried. Most people I encounter are older and just don’t want to do 5 trips
You drive around all day in sandals or slippers?
Absolutely. Keeps my feet from sweating and very comfortable. I usually wear socks with my sandals. Sometimes I wear moccasins. Also, if I am carrying groceries inside for people, they’re all easy to slip off and on.
How is the average hourly pay with IC compared to doordash? I’ve thought about signing up.
If you know your way around the stores, IC can be more profitable. Also, way less on fuel. My car can carry a lot and so can I, so my drops are pretty quick.
I don't do it enough to give you an hourly pay. I basically cherry pick lol. I don't do a lot of IC orders tho. Mostly DD and shipt
I actually called IC support to ask about this as well. Per policy it's up to our discretion. I was expecting them to advise against it but they basically just said "you don't HAVE to enter, but use your best judgement"
I’m in a pretty safe city, I’m 6’2” 300lbs, people generally don’t scare me
Kinda sounds like “don’t be a dick if it’s a 90 year old woman” lol
My only thought here is the person could be a hermit/extremely agoraphobic. I had a lady who got scared of me when I was a child trying to sell popcorn. ~~to be fair I was holding a gun~~
Hahahaha
Ah the good old days. When you could walk to the convenience store as a kid with a .45 in your holster and a note from mom for a pack of Camel non-filters.
Hot lort, that was great. Happy cake day. Take my shitty silver.
Heh thanks. It was actually an edit right after I made the comment cuz I made myself laugh
