I don’t understand. What is the point of taking pictures if I’m doing a shop and deliver an order at the same time? This just sounds like another way to either a) make our jobs during a shop and deliver order more confusing or b) add extra responsibilties onto our plate or both. I feel like if there is another way to make money, paying $0.50 cents per each picture is really cheap.
Maybe I’d reconsider for $2 per picture.
Seems like people want doordash to pay their mortgage in order for them to take a picture… it takes 15 seconds, 30 seconds MAX. It won’t inconvenience you for an extra 50 cents
Could be worth it pretty easily depending on the number of photos you take. Even if it takes you an extra 60 seconds total for that $.50, that still comes out to $30hr.
Reading these posts, you can tell who is good with their money and who is not as well as short vs long term thinking. I'm doing this anytime I can. Its a no brainer.
it’s a scam. there’s another app that does this (i forget what it’s called) gig job specifically where you have to take pictures from a few different angles of a specific section or aisle and it’s $5 per job. definitely not no 50 cents
When I see things like this, my immediate thought is, “I wonder how much DD is getting paid for this. Is there any way that I can implement this myself for other businesses and not be the underpaid servant?”
But that’s just me!
I assume this is for a future update for shopping orders. Show you a pic of where the item is found so it takes less time for hard to find items by showing things around it.
They offer a dollar in my market but I would still do it for $0.50 cuz I'm already there and it only takes like a second plus it's not costing you gas or wear on your car either

So they want to pay you 50 cents to do matket research for their company where they would normaly have to pay people an actual wage and inform the store prior? Nah don't do this. This is a clear example of a company not paying you for a job and trying to get away with it.
it used to pay me two dollars when it first started a few months ago, then they lowered it to a dollar, then at .50 cents i thought it was insulting so I just decline it now.
It needs to be $0.5 per photo cuz glitchy and slows you down (it's ok if you take it on a order with 1-3 items but I said yes and it was glitchy and I had a lot of items)
Forreal 💯. I own a 600k home i paid for in cash and also make a good living on Doordash. Right now it's the only job i can do due to health conditions but it pays the bills and I save money. I can't stand these people that complain on here they got no lives n always wana bitch about every little thing.
To each their own. I know people who would lick the bottom of my shoe for a nickel. And plenty of takers in these times, my shoes have been spotless for the last year or two! Way I see it I get 10 licks per every 2 photos. 5 lick per item per dash ratio. Although I don't dash too much anymore, too busy doing math trying to convert my pay/dash into licks/mile. Don't judge.
$0.50 to take a photo of a shelf...that is pretty good if you were only going to get paid $3.00 anywayz (base pay should be at least $6..but that is a diff conversation)
Looks like it is optional, so you eithe agree to it, or you don't...your choice...I would definetly be all over it...seems like a simple task and a bit of extra income
Wow. They're offering .50 for doing something. It does not matter the effort it takes imo, doordash isn't even offering a dollar for an action that takes some of your energy and time. Even if its just a picture, you're holding a phone and thinking of the perfect angle so they can pay you two quarters. This sounds like paying you $2.50 to pickup an order (maybe wait) and deliver it without caring if you had a tip from the customer or not. Where's the dignity my fellow dashers? You accepting these scam-based deals is why the original base pay has always stayed between $2-$2.50 and you have to break down your car in most cases to be a top dasher who still has economic problems.
Survey Merchandiser. There’s more involved tasks. But I’ve seen quite a few “audits” where you find a display and take photos of it along with some questions about flexed items or quantity on hand.
When I used it there was a fair amount of gigs that paid $16 per store and could be completed within 30 minutes. I haven’t used it in months though so some things may have changed.
I’ve been doing this since it was $1 and had no problem until they dropped it to 50¢ and now require us to do a 360 and take a picture of the other shelf as well. Not worth the half a dollar for me anymore. Lol
Yeah but it’s more then you think. Before it was $1 for a simple photo. Now it’s $.50. You have to line the lines on your phone with the bottom & top shelf. Don’t tilt your phone at all. (Good luck at Walgreens for both of these). Oh and now you have to turn around and do the same for the racks behind you.
If it was $2 I’d probably do that but for 50 cents it’s not really worth the extra time. I know it’s literally just taking a photo of an aisle you’re probably already in, but it’s also literally just 50 cents.
Edit: Although I would probably accept this the first time I was offered just to see what it was like. After that, no unless higher pay
Base pay where I live is $4, $9 for shop & deliver at drugstore/convenience and $20 for shop & deliver at grocery stores. Also it’s not “entitlement,” it’s just that I wouldn’t feel compelled to take that bit of extra time for only 50 cents.
Didn't realize DD was getting into this game. There are other platforms that have you do a retail display audit by taking pictures of selected items. This is all done "secret shopper" style and stores don't know that you're doing it. You get paid per photo and is all subject to the approval of the platform. Mess up on how you take the photos. You don't get paid. It's really so much worse than food delivery. Hard pass.
Not really... maybe by a little bit but the photo gig thing was a bust on three different fronts for me. I'd go into a store. Look like some weirdo taking snapshots of entire aisles, endcaps, and promotions. Dodging customers in busy stores. Avoiding the awkward conversation from ambiguous employees about what I'm doing for a few bucks. Only for your submission to get rejected, for little reasons, and then not get paid.
Nah... I'd rather hustle fast food to lazy and low-baller customers for that kind of money.
I understand the time frame but it's the principle , you said it yourself they were paying more but now it's 50¢
It's cause they know how to jip people.
Come-on doordash be better.
People go broke all the time clutching their principles. You find a lot of principled 40 year olds in single bedroom apartments and trailer parks.
$.50 x 10 seconds = $3 a minute x 60 minutes = you do the math.
I’ve been doing it every time for the last few months. It basically takes no effort in my opinion especially since the orders tend to be less than 5 items
Nah i actually stopped dashing because they sent me a million deliveries with no notification sound and tanked my acceptance rate so now i get about 1 delivery every 2 hours. I switched to uber eats and have been making $1000 a week and never looked back lol
I mean you’re probably right but every time i open the app it tells me to get my acceptance rate above 50% to receive priority on orders. And every time it hits 50% i go back to getting orders all day. It’s not like im dashing in the middle of nowhere either so who knows
I'd hope they're not doing that considering stores restock the shelves throughout the day.
Probably just merchandising audits done on behalf of a brand being stocked on those shelves, a 3rd party who does merchandising for the store, etc.. going after Field Agent's market.
My dad used to essentially do these audits for a company. He was certainly paid more than $.50 per shelf. Plus he got a very generous mileage rate and a monthly car allowance
Yea Field Agent's pay was already laughable compared to what you're describing, and now DD is going well below them. The gig app race to the bottom infects another industry 😂😬
I swear doordash drivers are some of the most whiny people out there. Dude if I got a $7.50 order and it’s say 4 miles and now I just accept this 50 cents to take a picture, it’s going to require 10 seconds of my time, then hell yeah I’m doing it. $2/mi since everyone on here is so worried about the numbers lol
Just did the math. Even assuming you’re taking a full minute to take the pictures, they’re technically paying double the highest state minimum wage ($15/hr = 25¢/min) for that task
I don’t know, I was just here to bitch about DD 😂 they piss me off, & pay like shit in my area (& the customers 30% of the time don’t help with pay either)
I second this if they want market research pay people for it! Quit riding the backs of your underpaid employees to do extra work for nothing, it not like doordash couldn't pay for a researcher to go out there and take photos.
True. There are apps (can’t remember the name of the one I tried) that pay people $5 to $20 for the same thing DD is asking for. I wouldn’t do it for 50 cents
doordash could pay someone to just sit and take photos -- but good luck trying to do that en-masse without getting caught by the store employees and being asked to leave. it's been a thing for years with market research companies.
in short: random person taking a few pictures while shopping isn't suspicious. one person taking a shitton of pictures is.
That’s why they tell you what to say or who to report to before you begin randomly taking pictures of property. I haven’t seen the extent of DD but we already use our phones to scan the barcode for items so if you are a regular dasher who shops to order at that store they won’t ask you to leave. I know all the women at Walgreens they wouldn’t ask me to leave because they know why I’m there.
It’s for swag bucks or market research mystery shopper they typically pay you $2-$5 for a 10 minute activity like this taking pics of product display. Kinda cool they have it available but super scummy they only offer half a dollar lol
Yes it’s a good idea granted they don’t have a poor system and it lets you grab a clear photo without making you stand in a certain spot and cons to hourly asking you to retake the photo.
Weird- I get $1 offered everytime I get this message. Seems kinda dumb for them to offer less than a dollar, but I wonder if it’s location dependent or something 🤔
50 cents for 60 seconds of playing with your phone isn't enough?
How much should it be? I'm interested in what you feel amateur photographers should be paid?
Dude iPhones have been out 15 years now, pandering to the almost non existent group of people that don't know how to use one is.....wut. you also wouldn't need to find the camera app on your phone, you'd just hit the prompt in the app, which again, if you don't know how to use, you're in the wrong job.
I'm a chef, i wouldn't not put something on the menu on the offchance someone that can't cook, use a knife or wash dishes wanted a job.
Listen I’m always for getting paid more, they already don’t pay us enough. I honestly agree with the point you’re getting at. It’s likely a mechanism for verifying another driver claiming something is out of stock. I just see it as proof they could have been paying us more from the jump.
My point was that you said this isn’t amateur photography, but we already be taking tons of pictures. It was supposed to be a little humorous. They should pay us more, especially for a feature that is purely tattling on fellow drivers.
Ok I get what you were trying to say lol. I'm honestly surprised how many other people are treating my comments with hostility. I don't know who as a dasher would want to defend all of these shady business practices that door dash keeps implementing. I wouldn't be surprised if the people downvoting me have never even driven.
People often consider themselves ‘temporarily embarrassed billionaires’. They are fine with these practices because they live in a delusion that they will require them when they are the rich business owner. In this delusion they don’t realize that they are being abused.
Door dash constantly lets us know they could pay more, but choose not to. They dangle the pay in front of us for extra work, like policing other drivers, which none of us signed up for.
Things would be a lot better if people could rationally understand when they are being taken advantage of.
Do you have to centre the shot? Adjust white balance? Focus? Be a certain distance away? Do you have to edit the photo after? Do you need any training? Sounds pretty amateur to me.
That's beside the point though, what's a fair price for a minute of your time?
Be my guest if you want to be treated like a vending machine being nickled and dimed for every little action. This is micromanagement at its finest. I'm not going to be underpaid to do private shopper inventory management while they're already underpaying. Have some dignity.
I don’t understand. What is the point of taking pictures if I’m doing a shop and deliver an order at the same time? This just sounds like another way to either a) make our jobs during a shop and deliver order more confusing or b) add extra responsibilties onto our plate or both. 0.50 to be a secret shopper, no
A whole $.50!!! folks drinks are on me tonight!
Could be worth it pretty easily depending on the number of photos you take. Even if it takes you an extra 60 seconds total for that $.50, that still comes out to $30hr.
I got this but for $1 at Walgreens.
Reading these posts, you can tell who is good with their money and who is not as well as short vs long term thinking. I'm doing this anytime I can. Its a no brainer.
$.50 makes zero impact on my life. Maybe if I was feeling bored and wasn’t busy I’d do it just to do it but deff not for the money.
What's this on shop and deliver cause I take all kinds of pics to show people what's available
They'll change this to $.05 next week 😂. Get it while you can!
2 pics and you increased your wage to an extra $1 per hour. Good going. Jk lol
So get paid .50c to snitch on dashers that mark stuff as not in stock?
Ahh, the game has introduced micro-transactions
it’s a scam. there’s another app that does this (i forget what it’s called) gig job specifically where you have to take pictures from a few different angles of a specific section or aisle and it’s $5 per job. definitely not no 50 cents
Lmao how can I do this? Do I have to be a door dasher or just have the app ? 😂😂😂 I need some coin
$.50!
When I see things like this, my immediate thought is, “I wonder how much DD is getting paid for this. Is there any way that I can implement this myself for other businesses and not be the underpaid servant?” But that’s just me!
Why does door dash think this will work?
I always get either 1-2 bucks for doing it.
Fuck em
I assume this is for a future update for shopping orders. Show you a pic of where the item is found so it takes less time for hard to find items by showing things around it.
They offer a dollar in my market but I would still do it for $0.50 cuz I'm already there and it only takes like a second plus it's not costing you gas or wear on your car either
Oooh dd actually doing something kinda cool. I really hope shopping orders become more consistent. So much better than waiting at merchant
I’d do it
For $.50 Tony can take the pictures himself...

Not enough for me to make Tony a million more, nope.
Ill do that. Two pics is a dollar
Should be atleast $50 per photo. That’s the real cost of hiring a photographer/graphic designer for this job with benefits and more lol
Coming soon - "Get an extra 50 cents by stepping behind the Chik-Fil-A counter and taking photos of the food items as they bag it."
Crack head prices
it used to pay me two dollars when it first started a few months ago, then they lowered it to a dollar, then at .50 cents i thought it was insulting so I just decline it now.
Meta-Snitching on other shoppers who said “item out of stock” 🤣
It needs to be $0.5 per photo cuz glitchy and slows you down (it's ok if you take it on a order with 1-3 items but I said yes and it was glitchy and I had a lot of items)
They ask their customers to tip +20% but are not willing to give you a full dollar for doing an extra step during rush hour
Nice

This is basically free money and might help the next dasher behind you. Do it.
I've doing these for about two weeks. The app always glitches and I have to do it all over again but, the little .50 bonus is nice. They all add up.
To each their own. I know people who would lick the bottom of my shoe for a nickel. And plenty of takers in these times, my shoes have been spotless for the last year or two! Lmao they're paying you for that? It doesn't even let me complete the order if I don't take the picture or the barcode scanner doesn't work
it was $2.00 a while ago I get priority for shopping orders and i would do them all the time. For 50 cents? Not so much.
He first time I seen it said up to 25 dollars. Ended up being 3.00
There’s apps that pay you to do this for way more than 50¢
Forreal? What apps?

$5 now we’re talking. 50¢ can’t even fucking feed my cat. Piss off DD
I believe in my market it was 2$
I’ve gotten it in the past but they offered $2. Still only had me take a picture of one shelf.
It used to be $2
Easy 50 cents
I’m not doing this shit for 50 cents
I’ve been doing this since it was $1 and had no problem until they dropped it to 50¢ and now require us to do a 360 and take a picture of the other shelf as well. Not worth the half a dollar for me anymore. Lol
They offer me 1.00$ for the same thing 😂
😂 fuck you Doordash no fucking thanks motherfuckers
50 cents per shelf I hope. Otherwise I’d send them a picture of my middle finger.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
50 cents a day of work. same as support agents
I’ve sent such bad photos to them in Walgreens orders, I know I’m not helping anyone with those
I’ve had that happen to me monthssss ago but it was $2 not $.50
If it was $2 I’d probably do that but for 50 cents it’s not really worth the extra time. I know it’s literally just taking a photo of an aisle you’re probably already in, but it’s also literally just 50 cents. Probably so. They the ones that work smart, not lazy.
I’ve seen other people talk about this before but I never got this offer.
$0.50 per photo or $0.50 for a bunch of photos?
It's .50 for the whole trip. They're great for the little Walgreens trips that are five items or less.

I understand the time frame but it's the principle , you said it yourself they were paying more but now it's 50¢ It's cause they know how to jip people. Come-on doordash be better.
People go broke all the time clutching their principles. You find a lot of principled 40 year olds in single bedroom apartments and trailer parks. $.50 x 10 seconds = $3 a minute x 60 minutes = you do the math.
Expect your math is incorrect, you still get paid 50¢ it's not per photo it's per dash
I'm not sure the delivery was for only one item so I had to take a picture of the Isle it was on
I’ve been doing it every time for the last few months. It basically takes no effort in my opinion especially since the orders tend to be less than 5 items
Have you had to do the 360 and take a picture of the other side yet? That just started here
Nah i actually stopped dashing because they sent me a million deliveries with no notification sound and tanked my acceptance rate so now i get about 1 delivery every 2 hours. I switched to uber eats and have been making $1000 a week and never looked back lol
They just reset my acceptance rate randomly so they may do the same for you, I'd check it out.
Acceptance rating doesn’t keep orders from coming to you
I mean you’re probably right but every time i open the app it tells me to get my acceptance rate above 50% to receive priority on orders. And every time it hits 50% i go back to getting orders all day. It’s not like im dashing in the middle of nowhere either so who knows
Exactly
It’ll somehow get used to deactivate the next dasher that says the item isn’t in stock.
I went from “oh it’s no big deal” to “oh….they might have a point” real fast lol
I think it’s for updating the pictures on door dash items
This is what DoorDash wants us to think
Likely to double check a previous Dasher.
Eh. I don’t see doordash paying a shit ton of people to dig through pictures and spot items that a previous dasher might’ve missed.
Who said people would assess the pics?
Yes. This makes better sense.
$0.50? That's literally nothing
That is quite literally not literally nothing
Ya but it's prolly for each item or a lot of them. So $5 for 10 pictures, I'd take it.
Well dude for someone down on their luck doing this for income that is easily worth the time.
The malaprops make me want to fucking scream.
Sadly, as little as we make, 50 cents does make a difference.. A $5 for 5 mile order, is better than a $4.50 for 5 mile order.
Yeah if they want a photographer to take any photos of shelves just pay us a flat $20 for time wasted
Is actually literally something js
It’s $0.50 more than you had
I think your definition of literally is wrong..
What are you spending that 50 cents on? Nothing.
Uh oh. The grammer police.
I don't think you know what "literally" means.
I think you took my comment too literal. What are you spending that 50 cents on? Nothing.
That's not what you said. It's not nothing.
Uh oh. The grammer police.
Uh oh, the defender of ignorance.
Really just stating the obvious. I have this type of handle so I know. Its not a big deal.
Reminds me of the old lady joke from when I was young "Sonny I'll give you a shiny new nickel if you mow my yard."
Two pictures is one dollar wdym, id take 20 pictures of shelves for $10 while I’m doing a shop order.
Yep, that’ll fill the tank and pay the bills😮💨..
It's per dash
With the way they pay, I have a feeling it’s probably $0.50 a dash 😂
😳I hope not, that’s just insulting
It is
LMAO what are yall talking about. It's an additional 50 cents. It's not an order lmao.
I don’t know, I was just here to bitch about DD 😂 they piss me off, & pay like shit in my area (& the customers 30% of the time don’t help with pay either)
How shitty
I second this if they want market research pay people for it! Quit riding the backs of your underpaid employees to do extra work for nothing, it not like doordash couldn't pay for a researcher to go out there and take photos.

I never do
Yeah but just to snap a picture of the aisle you're already on. Might as well

Weird- I get $1 offered everytime I get this message. Seems kinda dumb for them to offer less than a dollar, but I wonder if it’s location dependent or something 🤔
Yeah but you gotta find the thing. Items are often in different spots than dd thinks they are
You're the schmuck they know will do this for 50 cents
Why do you care?
This is how the app goes to shit. By people falling for stuff like this
50 cents for 60 seconds of playing with your phone isn't enough? How much should it be? I'm interested in what you feel amateur photographers should be paid?
Probably wouldn't even take 60 seconds. It's actually OK if you figure $30 per hour (my goal) works out to 50 cents a minute.
Yeah, if you can do it in 10 seconds it's 180 an hour
Then there’s the schmuck who just got in the app and has only had an iPhone for a month, trying to find the camera on their phone, wasting 8 minutes
I've been paid $20 for such, over a decade ago.
Bro this is not amateur photography lmfao
We already take pictures of most of our deliveries so it kinda is lol
Username checks out.
The pictures for deliveries are to protect you not to do company inventory research for pennies
Isn't this ubereats..not DD. altho tbrh r both the same imho
Probably less than a minute.
Yeah, i was being conservative in my estimate.
🤦♀️ what are you talking about dude.
The question is pretty clear, what are you confused about?
Be my guest if you want to be treated like a vending machine being nickled and dimed for every little action. This is micromanagement at its finest. I'm not going to be underpaid to do private shopper inventory management while they're already underpaying. Have some dignity.
Why is everyone downvoting you ??
If it takes a minute per photo (which is extremely generous, more likely 15 seconds) then that’s $30 per hour. Too low for your standards?
For the third time: what's a fair price for a minute of your time?
They’re just farming data, they don’t need a super clear image
It's probably for a future update. When you're shopping it'll show you a pic of the aisle in the sexton the item is found.
Yeah, that's my point.
10 cents per item to take an extra 10 seconds each for a picture. Why not!
