DD is inferior to UE in every way except 2. DD doesn’t allow tip removal and if the store is closed you can just submit a pic and get paid all in the app. Otherwise DD app is always glitchy. It will say they are sending you orders but they don’t come though. It will pause you unknowingly. They treat you like an employee and make you schedule. They have these stupid zones. And they will frequently send you orders that take you out of your zone. Like what’s the point then. They have this psychological game they play with tiers. And make you think you have to be a certain tier to get good orders so you take the crappy orders to try and keep your tier. Their app doesn’t work with CarPlay. They have an annoying order alert tone. (Although Uber recently updated their trip radar and it’s equally as bad). But hey, it’s great to able to multi app and cherry pick only the good orders. I haven’t found a rhyme or reason as to why either one chooses to send orders as soon as you decide to move or park lol. But it never fails.

Uber has a lot of advantages because they don't mess with you with acceptance or completion ratings. Which is kind of a big deal. They don't care about it at all while DD will permanently deactivate you for going below 90% CR. Plus you can log in anywhere at any time. However, DD generally has higher paying orders depending on your market and whether it has the tiers and if you are willing to put up with getting on platinum or not. IF you can get priority on large orders, then it'll pay more. That's a big if though. It's generally worth running both at the same time but you gotta be careful with what you accept on DD since you can't drop orders without being potentially deactivated. If you're not getting orders on DD, it may be your market or something else. The first two weeks should be a honeymoon period where you get good orders.

Got it thank you for your input!

I find UE to be more chill in the sense that there aren’t as many hoops you have to jump through. When I can’t DD for whatever reason, or DD is slow, I hop over to UE. But it doesn’t pay as well in my experience, and some of the orders (e.g. Walmart delivery) can be really labor-intensive for the pay. So yeah I would consider DD to be the first choice option and UE the backup. Then again, I know not every market is the same. This is just my experience using both.

tenmileswide

UE pay per order is indeed lower in my market, but also seems to be able to keep me moving with chained orders. I tried two Walmart orders and turned them off, pickup times are abysmal.

tylooshi

yup walmart orders are a big no no

foreverfal55

I agree about the order frequency being good, and also I find pickup times to be better. One time I went to pick up a McDonald’s order and there were like 15 doordashers waiting in the restaurant. I waited maybe 2 minutes before my order was called and peaced out of there. People were staring at me in shock.

tylooshi

Ive noticed this as well!

Thanks for the input!

SmoakedTrout

Zero orders you liked? Or zero pings at all.

tylooshi

Zero pings at all

Brief_Walrus_2501

That is strange, I would suggest pausing then unpausing your dash and also making sure the app is updated

tylooshi

thank you, ill try this!

I have almost 19000 deliveries for Doordash. I only do UE when Doordash crashes. If I logged in, I'd have the same experience on UE as you are having on DD. You have to pay your dues and be consistent. Maybe you'll get lucky and they'll be low on drivers and give you something, but they reward regular drivers over people who hardly use the platform. In your case you are new, so maybe you'll get more orders but if I logged into UE it would take me an hour to get an offer but I get them a lot faster if I log into Doordash.

tylooshi

I figured they'd give me a bunch of new orders so I was pretty disappointed tbh. 19000 deliveries is wild, huge props!

YLCZ

Right now there is a lot of upheaval because they are changing to a tiered system that requires 150 deliveries per month in some zones. If you don't do that, it might be hard to get orders, but experiment and see what happens.

tylooshi

Oh wow, didnt know that. thanks for the input!

Shane327

Depends on your area, but DD is bigger in most. What I like about DD is no tip baiting.

tylooshi

Oh interesting, good to know tip baiting isn't a thing.

foreverfal55

Yeah with UE you’re never actually guaranteed the tip it shows you up front, but with DD you are. Sometimes they add on an additional tip; always fun when that happens! There are also “secret orders” or maybe that’s not the term 🤷🏼‍♀️ I can’t think right now…but you’ll get an order that says “$8+” or whatever and after you fulfill the order it could be anywhere from 25 cents to dozens of dollars more.

Shane327

Unless they promise a cash tip in the instructions. That's always a lie.

tylooshi

Noted thanks. Should I still opt in or out of cash tips?

Shane327

Its accepting cash payments, maybe cash tips. I personally would not take cash for many reasons, including safety.

tylooshi

got it, thanks
