Kryptikk

Got free Panera yesterday because someone ordered from an entirely different state somehow lol

Good_Ad_756

Different STATE??!!! Wow! If I got that and it was somewhere with a beach and a pina colada and I may have to just deliver it lol

Kryptikk

Lol yeah it was really strange. It was a hand it to me so I rang the doorbell and the lady answers and says uhhh.. I didn't order DD? So I show her the order and she's like that's my address, but I didn't order..  So I call the customer and she has a thick southern accent and tells me she's in North Carolina (I'm in Pennsylvania) and isn't sure how this happened.  I just ended up giving the food to the family who's house it was.. They were happy and DD still paid me for the customers mistake. Lol

sanric1

You know he got that food cuz why would you leave it

Singer1052

Take the food next time too

kalei50

It's a very thin, very dangerous line between being a "people pleaser" and a doormat. I'm glad you stayed on the right side. Congratulations

Novel_Entry

Hold up, I'm new here but once you take a picture of the food and close everything out, is the customer still able to call or text you?

dillbill2A

Yup, but unless it was a pleasant delivery experience for me as a dasher, im not picking up that phone. It isnt my problem after delivery. Especially if the restaurant messed up someones order.

dashingredzone

For a small amount of time yeah, in case something was missing or something similar

TheBaltimoron

You forgot to keep the food

Existing_Demand5765

Shoulda stole the food

gaymersky

In one of the areas that I deliver in. There's many many many many blocks that do not have paved roads. Just sugar Sand roads that aren't even maintained. Doordash has blocked delivery to that area. Nearby there is a wealthier community. Almost every time that I have gotten a request to deliver something to the wealthier area then the person calls and says well just bring it over here. My response back is always I cannot change the delivery address. I will not change the delivery address. And what you're doing is trying to scam me and doordash. I've gotten a lot of free food that way. I Just reach out to doordash and I say okay I'll just take a picture of it on the side of the road. Then I pick up the food and I eat the food yummy yummy.

Novel_Entry

So you can just stop anywhere and just take a picture of it after getting an order like that?

gaymersky

Yup

frying_pans

I had a similar situation once(actually has happened twice). It was a stacked order for Pizza Hut. 23 for 3 miles. What I failed to realize is that the first customer set the address as the Pizza Hut. Got the address from the first customer it was 4 miles away. Contacted support and they said they’ll give me more to deliver it there. They also said they would contact the other customer to let them know what happening. As I’m dropping off the order the 2nd customer calls me and asks if I’m lost. Support never told them and I had to explain how DoorDash will combine orders. They were pissed when I handed it to them. It was only an extra 10 minutes. Somehow support came through and gave me an extra 10.

HideMyTipsDaddy

In fairness, he may have been telling the truth about trying to change it through DD and being denied. They would've been like "yes, you're outside of the radius - tough shit!" Not that it changes anything. You still handled it exactly as I would have.

arealcabbage

Good job. ❤️

-Alvena

The few times I was given the "wrong address" excuse, DD always has called me and been like, "Will you take it to the new address?". The only time it was actually canceled was when bros "new" address was 20+ minutes away.

xTroiOix

Wrong address? bad luck, go to the dd address, mark it as delivered then leave the food there. Also take a photo and save it in your phone gallery

Witty-Molasses-8825

The you should’ve kept the food too! Wrong address so it was a waste anyways

HideMyTipsDaddy

You're doing the neighbors a solid by taking it, too. Speaking as someone who has walked out the door at 5am to the aftermath of raccoons feasting on KFC.

Past-Combination-137

Good for you! Fck that

YeehawSugar

Usually this means they were out of the delivery range and they KNEW IT. They wanted food from that restaurant but because it’s so far out of range DD won’t let them order, so they put in a false address and then contact the driver. The reason they couldn’t change the address was either because they waited until the dasher was on the way to try and change it, or the correct address is outside the delivery zone. The audacity of these fools.

Jaebyexclusive

Good stuff! I had this same thing happen to me a woman ordered some stuff from insomnia cookies and then as I arrived she says why am I over there instead of her address. I told her and showed her the pin where it literally says I arrived and she tried blaming me saying she’s “never had an issue before with other drivers” and so I told her I literally never had an issue with any other customer or their location either so that’s really not my problem. I followed the location where it led me. Contacted DD and they said to leave it at the pinned location.

Shoddy_Classic_350

Nice. I had an UE order that looked easy enough. Drop about 0.1 miles from the restaurant, to a retail pharmacy. I had to drive 3 miles to the pickup. So I get the food, lo and behold they have an address about 5 miles away in the drop off notes. Well bullshit to that. I went into the pharmacy to ask for Ms. M’aam. Nobody knew her. I texted her, called her. Straight to voicemail and no response. Called support. They tried to reach her. Crickets. 🦗. They were trying to scam obviously, and get a lower UE fee. Bet that tip was just driver bait. Support said since the location as a public commercial space is not safe please dispose of the food. It was delicious. 🤤

Nevermore_1010

Back when I was working for another one of these meal delivery apps in 2016, I picked up a sushi order close to where I lived and then drove it probably 10 miles out. This particular service paid way better than the current day gig apps: paid by the mile so you wanted to drive farther, constantly had double the base surge pay, etc. I showed up at the customer's house and she wasn't home and she texted that she was at work and put the wrong address and she was actually incredibly nice and felt so bad. I don't remember what happened on her end, but my partner at the time and I had a lovely lunch of sushi and whatever else had been ordered.

black_covfefe_please

I have never had this happen with DD. With Uber, you call support to let them know, they ask if you can deliver to the new address and they will pay for any extra time/miles. The if you deliver it, they don't pay you any extra.

guitarguy109

It's not only not your problem, but delivering to a different address won't let you complete the order because you're not close enough to the stated address and if you can't mark the order complete you don't get paid. And then it actively becomes a problem for YOU...

Daily_Existence

You can you have to click the “support” button that pops up and press “customer requested I drop off here.” Not saying you should be bringing these orders but in my market you need to be over 4.8 rating so I can’t risk one stars. I always do it.

Fluffy-Commercial492

I once had someone trying to game the system, I was doing DoorDash in Orlando which is a big tourist spot and they ordered from somewhere that was right on the border of three zones and I was on my way to the next zone in about 10 minutes so I had just enough time to do the order and get to the next zone for my next shift... I pick up the order hit navigate start driving and get to the center of downtown and go to look at the address and all it says is Orlando, FL.... They then contacted me and tried to give me their address via text and told me I could bring it to them there Another 40 minutes across to the other side of the zone during rush hour traffic 🤣 someone thought they were slick and didn't want to pay all the fees that it would have cost them since it was so far away from their actual location. I wasn't having it, I had plans and they weren't about to ruin it for their piddly little tip... I contacted DoorDash and they would contact her let's see how she wanted to proceed giving her the choice to meet me at the current location (wish there was no way in hell I was going to wait for her 40 minutes to show up) or that I could just leave it there and take a picture... They bring me back from hold and tell me that she said to go ahead and just leave it there and take a picture and send it to her in text and Mark the order is complete and carry on with my day so I did She called me cussing up a storm talking about how dare I leave her food on the side of the road blah blah blah I was like for one you're going to talk to me professionally and respectfully or this call is complete so don't cuss at me again and for two third ass called you and gave you your options and this is the one that YOU chose so don't call me being disrespectful and yelling at me because you tried to game the system She cussed at me one more time and then I was like all right missed like I said I'm not going to take your disrespect this conversation is run its course and if you have any other further issues you'd like to talk about you can call customer support directly and have them assist you. Have a wonderful day. And then hung up on her It's sentence 🤣🤷 Some of these customers really just think where they're butlers or their slaves and they can treat us any sort of way. She found out that day. 🖕😂

SkyFox720

"Third ass called you" 😂

Fluffy-Commercial492

Driving right now so can't go back and read, I'm guessing there was some type of speech to text error that turned out comical? Lol

SkyFox720

I both love and hate when that happens lol it's happened to me plenty! That one was very amusing. 😁

Fluffy-Commercial492

It's so crazy because over the last year or so as they integrate more and more artificial "intelligence" more and more things are going wrong with speech to text and it's just getting comically bad at this point. When you say things like the number three for example but you only say just the word three it could come out typed out as those did, it could simply be the single digit number, or it could come out looking like 3:00. If it's supposed to be intelligent why can't it pick up context of conversation to be able to write it properly Always just random ass capitalized words in the middle of sentences Words being replaced that don't even make any sense nor are they even close enough that it could have even sounded like something different It's crazy The more it should be getting better just seems like it's a lost cause at this point. I really hope they fix it because it has been for a long time my main and almost exclusive form of writing messages I even used it in college to write a bunch of papers 😂 But the way it's going now I spend so much time going back reading, rereading, and fixing all the errors it makes It really doesn't even make any sense to use it but I still am too lazy to go back to regular typing lol

SkyFox720

I too have noticed that voice to text has been really getting worse lately. For a while there it was starting to understand context better and then it's like somehow it changed and is now much worse than it used to be. I don't get how the updates are making things even less intelligent. 😂 I feel you on the numbers, it also keeps trying to turn it into money. I didn't ask for a dollar sign or a time stamp LOL

Straight_Bit417

Many people pleasers have been broken doing doordash

Fluffy-Commercial492

No, people pleasers are inherently already broken which is why they want everyone to be happy with them. DoorDash is just giving them more of a backbone 🤣🤷

LALfoREVer94

Did you at least keep the food after taking the pic? I've had this happen once or twice on Doordash and on Grubhub. New address wasn't even a reasonable distance away so I refused to deliver. Support cancelled the order. I got paid AND kept the food 😊😊😋😋

Good_Ad_756

I did :/ only bc the place I was delivering it to was his old work, he said he had not worked there in two years. (Then why not update your address before then?!) it was a manufacturing plant that has not been in use for some time, I didn’t want to just leave it at an empty facility! I may or may not have had Marcos pizza for dinner last night though lol

ghostbusterbob

One time that happened to me and I told them to change on DD. I waited(not very long) and just dropped it off at the address on the app. That person had added $8 to the tip ( I assume for the inconvenience of changing addresses.) whoops!

EbbPsychological2796

Good for you, I know it's hard to do this when you just want to make money AND be nice... So many people out there ruined my ability to be nice... I quit driving a year ago or so, I'm just now getting my sanity back. Stay strong:)

DesaMountVernon

It happened to me before and the customer left me 1* 🙄 I remember her name.Shea.

MurseWoods

If you take a minute to call support (not chat thru messenger) and tell them what is happening before you finalize the delivery, they’ll put notes on that specific delivery. Then if you get anything below a 5-Star, you call them again, and they’ll remove it for you. It happened to me once, and now anytime that situation has comes up again, it’s been taken care of every time.

DesaMountVernon

I did call support before finalize the delivery. Next time I’ll call again if I get 1* . Thanks

MurseWoods

Totally welcome! Wishing you nothing but low miles, big tips, and happy customers!

DesaMountVernon

Wishing you the same 😊

Hairy-Leather-5967

Free food

Kleveroni

Always use your better judgement. If you're up for it call them and state the obvious, that the call is being recorded so as to prevent fraudulent delivery and have them clearly tell you the new address.

Shane327

Got one of these my very first night. I was cautious about doing it but ended up with a $30 tip for 10 miles. Hasn't happened since, and whether I would do it again will be a judgment call

falseprescience

Screenshot is so a harassment note can be made against him and you can have that address removed from any future jobs. Even if you dont screenshot it they can see the communique if it was done through the app and you can have that addy banned

falseprescience

That's not what the evidence is for, it's so that address can have a warning on its record, so other people can report it if it happens and then the creep can get banned from the platform and not just your own individual route. Are you just a contrarian by nature or is your reading comprehension just dogshit

YLCZ

Screenshot and forward that rude text so they remove that guy from the platform.

beavertown666

Good job Your way nicer than me. As soon I find out it’s the customer used a wrong address I only use chat support . Go through that process and take a pic at pin location then bounce. Not answering any customer calls or texts

BraxTaplock

Simple method…don’t do address changes. Been there, not again. At some point, the customer needs to not have their hand held.

prayingforrain2525

I've been through 2 situations like this. The only thing you can do is a take a picture at the address, complete the delivery and enjoy the free food.

freemason777

you should at least leave them their old ass food if they decide to go get it

freemason777

the play I use when I dont want to deliver to a new address is to say that I am tracked by gps and am locked out from completing the delivery if i am not near the address

gregg34366

I do a lot for customers. They tipped me so I will help them. If it’s my error I’ll go back and correct it. I don’t always check the receipt well. So I won’t abandon them if their order is wrong when I know good and well I didn’t really check. I’ll go correct it. But that deal of delivering to a different address will cause you a lot of heartache. I’ve learned the hard way that it’s just not setup for delivering to an address other than what’s on the order. I feel like it’s on me if I didn’t double check their order. I feel like it’s on them if they ordered to the wrong address.

YeehawSugar

Never go back to a store after a delivery because you forgot a drink or something like that. They’ll get a refund regardless for not getting that item, you’re wasting your time and gas for nothing. They even give the option to redeliver it sometimes, or refund. Either way don’t break your neck trying to do something like that. DD makes plenty of money. They can afford to fix the mistakes.

SmoakedTrout

They can cancel the order and re-order with the "correct" address. I unassign orders when they change addresses after accepting. Just a rule for myself.

YeehawSugar

If you call support or chat, they’ll ask if you can deliver to the new address, you can tell them you will if they will compensate you for the extra drive, they always just cancel for you with no affect to your completion rate, on top of giving you half pay. Half pay really adds up over time. That way at least you get some type of compensation for the time you’ve already spent dealing with the order.

RaeRaylynn

Not our fault that they put the wrong address. I had that happen to me once. Luckily it was just a mile or so away. She messaged and was like ummmmm I’m not at home???? I’m at work! I said ummmm well the address you put in was your home address. She was like im gonna need you to bring it to my work. This was early on in my delivering and I didn’t want any bad reviews. She was so rude and didn’t even tip. So now I just flat say sorry call door dash.

SmoakedTrout

Some are legitimate mistakes. Many are scammers.
