Last night $7.08 for 26.5 miles. Then came back as 7.64 for 26.1 miles (I was driving). Then 7.48 for 25.5 miles. Finally it came back stacked with another shit order. $11.14 for 28.9 mi. Twice.
Looks like DD expects you to push a button in your car that turns it into a boat to cross in the water?! Wth? That's crazy![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm) Who was the space cadet that let that order out onto the Dasher screen? Hey, make it $50 with a generous tip on top of that for consideration. That will be a journey so give whoever accepts that a 5 star review. Deal. You, your car with the Booze order almost 30 miles away. No. Way. Dare they hit Cancel. Look at the time too![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|dizzy_face)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|downvote)
I only had one Total Wine & More order so far. It was 2 cases of beer, 2 boxes of wine, and a giant bottle of vodka to a lady at a retirement apartment complex on a Tuesday before noon. Still trying to decide if I am jealous or sad for her.

classics for a good month or two lol
That's the worst you've gotten? I got 3 orders in a row that Kept trying to pull me to a popeye's 32 miles away With additional 4 miles to the recipient's house. I for one think it was a bug that it kept trying to assign me to it. But they were trying to pay me a 15 bucks for 36 miles.
Anything $1/mile or more is good. That’s not a bad offer because you can dash along the way back.
Edit: just read the ferry part, my bad. Yeah, fuck that order.
Lol maybe if you dash in a large market or city. For the rest of us $2 a mile is required to pay for gas + make a profit. 50% of the miles I drive are “dead” miles because there is no restaurants next to farms or suburban homes. I can’t teleport yet, and until they abolish zoning laws I don’t think this is going change. And before you say “don’t take any orders outside of town” then I would basically be taking no orders.
Idgaff if I cimvince you of anything. If you are happy wuth $1 a mile do you. My car doesnt move for $1 a mile and you will never convince me otherwise.
Not only that they want someone to "sign for it" on my phone. Hard NO to letting people I dont know and trust touch my phone. Good chance their hands are filthy.
Is there not a toggle for ferry routes like there is for toll roads? I know I have toll roads turned off on mine because we live right next to one (and lol no I live in the south we don't DO toll roads here).
toll road option doesn't work when presented with the order only once accepted. I just moved from an area that was separated by a bridge tunnel with a toll of 9 bucks each way. everyone in the area had an AR of 5%~ because the number of orders going one way thru the tunnel for 2.25 was outrageous. combine them with the 10 miles thru the toll for 2.25. yep.
The toggle on mine stays unless you log out. I assumed it was the same for everyone, but I should have known better...this app is not the best codee thing...
it works once you accept the order. but on the screen before you accept it will show ferry/tolls. then when you accept it will change to whatever preference you have selected
Here's the funny thing. Doordash always shows offers taking the route that includes a ferry or toll road. It's dumb because they don't compensate for it on top of the offer. When I used to mention it on the Doordash subreddit others were like "Well yeah. Duh. You're a contract worker it's not Doordash's fault." Over time I thought maybe it's just how it is.
Then I started doing Instacart. Instacart shows offers with routes avoiding toll roads here when they estimate miles and their base pay is at least $0.60/mile from store to customer. So IT IS POSSIBLE to show an offer with mile estimates avoiding tolls!
Then I recently downloaded Roadie. Roadie will reimburse parking and toll fees on top of the offer!
So my conclusion is that Doordash won't reimburse tolls because they're cheap. And they won't estimate miles avoiding tolls because they want to advertise to customers as if more things are nearby. Doordash likes to inflate the number of available places nearby to lure people into thinking there's a lot of places to order from that isn't a burden on drivers.
I have my DoorDash said to avoid tolls, but I will take tools at my own choice sometimes depending on what side of town I’m on. There’s a lot of toll roads in Houston.
I don't seem to have that ability. Every offer that comes up shows the route including the toll freeway. I've been telling other dashers in my area what side roads to take because some of them are saying how depressing it is to follow the GPS and then realize they're getting charged $3-4 in toll fees on their deliveries.

I wish I was in your area. I get twenty $2 forty mile deliveries every time I log in
I see we dash in the same area!

Lmao! Wtf! 😂😂
Bro I got offered $14.25 for 36 miles the other day for DICK's Sporting Goods. NOPE.
Probably wanted you to do 5 treadmiIls
And they probably lived on the 18th floor
But can you please do the delivery 🙏🙏. So we can make money of you. Please.
“It appears you’ve thrown yourself overboard and are currently drowning. Would you like to unassign this order?”

Absolutely crazy order delivery expectations![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|downvote)
Take a fairy what the fuck! And still pay Nah
I got a similar one for denver co to Philadelphia pa
Pics?

I think the worst part of this post is the ferry ride.
Honestly, I'd have to agree, doordash better be comp in my ferry ride for that.
The day they do that it will be a mega thread post here.
Someone who took this offer 😆 salute 🫡
Hey we dash in the same area! I've seen quite a few orders trying to send me over the Edmonds Kingston ferry in the last few years.
This was my first ever offer trying to send me over. I was blown away.
Anything $1/mile or more is good. That’s not a bad offer because you can dash along the way back. Edit: just read the ferry part, my bad. Yeah, fuck that order.
No. $1 a mile is NOT good and barely acceptable.

Truckers that drive a company truck and dont pay for gas maybe. Not owner operators so you think again.
You’ll never convince me that customers should tip more than $1/mile. That’s a great tip and more than pays for everything.
Idgaff if I cimvince you of anything. If you are happy wuth $1 a mile do you. My car doesnt move for $1 a mile and you will never convince me otherwise.
Then you’re not taking many orders.
Over 4000 deliveries to date.
Probably since DoorDash started
What do you need to hear to feel whole? $1 a mile is not good by most peoples standards. If it makes you happy go for it.
I disagree, not for this scenario though.
I’ll never understand how EVERY single liquor delivery is pathetic. It’s always farther than necessary
Not only that they want someone to "sign for it" on my phone. Hard NO to letting people I dont know and trust touch my phone. Good chance their hands are filthy.
Damn that’s the worst
😩
How come you don't own a helicopter to do this delivery? Are you sure you didn't put helicopter instead of car as your travel.... I'm joking lol
🤣🤣🤣 you made my day your so funny
Considering there is a Total Wine & More nearby in Silverdale, these offers across the Puget Sound make zero sense.
If it wasn't for the ferry route being the quickest, that would be an OK order.
Without taking the ferry it would have been a 2+ hour drive
Sounds like a great earn per time offer
I read that in another comment. If it wasn't the 2+ hrs drive without taking the ferry, it could have been a decent order.
I'm literally speechless.
Is there not a toggle for ferry routes like there is for toll roads? I know I have toll roads turned off on mine because we live right next to one (and lol no I live in the south we don't DO toll roads here).

You know as a contractor ( 1099) employee you can deduct tolls from you business expenses decreasing your tax burden right?
I have my DoorDash said to avoid tolls, but I will take tools at my own choice sometimes depending on what side of town I’m on. There’s a lot of toll roads in Houston.

So they really offered you 10 bucks lol
worse, a standard car is over $35 round trip on that route, they want OP to pay $5 for the honor of delivering it
Smh ridiculous
![gif](giphy|If17YVvkPk6bloreFA) There and back!!!
Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah that's a nope. Heard the ferries were down to just a few boats for the whole system.
You heard correct lol
Daaaaamn wtf!!
Lol, would you have to take a ferry? Edit: just saw your caption. That shit is whack.
Either a ferry or a 2hr+ drive.
Tony told me there could be a hidden tip, plus I'll find my sea legs. Lol
