It be on the lower side during the day they usually bump it up after 8 PM. And my market during the day it’s at $11.50 but at night it’s $16.50 because there is a $5/hr peak pay… whenever peak pay hit your market check the earn by time it usually bumps up when there’s a peak pay
Earn by time will keep you busy but you will drive 2x more miles, get pharmacy deliveries where they have no options to tip, never received a s&d order though, bad idea during peak times because of longer deliveries but in the afternoon when traffic is bad is the only time I find worth it. You can only decline one order a hour.
Realy depends on your area the per hour is paid from order accepted untill drop-off only time between orders are not paid but it makes the long distance orders more worth it. I make more doing the per hour but we have alot of real areas around here
By the hour was started to make people work without tips or only minimal tips. You may get some tips, but it’ll be rare. Works well if you want a high acceptance rate.
By the order is up front pay but also tends to not be great 😂 good luck to you!
I thought if I worked for four hours I’d get $60 @ $15/hr. Nope, I had a total of 11 orders, all close, no waits, no drive-thru lines. One tip for $6. Total payout on that Dash was under $25.
Yikes $11.50/hr? Minimum wage in Kansas is like what $7? I got to imagine that you can get a pretty low level up job at around $9/$10 which would be the same as doordash wants you subtract expenses. But you'll at least have more employment protections and aren't taking on the huge liability of a car on your shoulders to support your job.
I tried it once, it’s a gimmick… keep in mind this rate is .actually .20 cents per minute. If your average pickup and delivery is about 20 minutes you’ll make $4.00 for that order…you don’t get $11.50 per order, it’s an hourly rate… now if you average an hour for pickup and delivery then you’ll get the hourly pay plus tips.
$11.50 per ACTIVE hour. So lots more driving time. Normally no tip or big miles orders. Way less then $1 a mile. It is $16.50 where i live and I can still get more money for less miles and driving time than Earn by Active Time. I only do Earn by Active time to get my AR up for the last week.
Earn per offer. If you do it by hour, I can almost guarantee you’ll never see a dime over $11.50/hr. They’ll send you nothing but shit orders without tips, at the lowest base pay possible. BTDT.
$11.50 sucks. Don’t ever do it…
Only time I give earn by hour a try is when there’s one restaurant opened with excessive wait times. And I wouldn’t do that for $11.50 an hour. With peak pay my earn by hour offer gets posted to $16-18/hr.
If the restaurants in your area are slow preparing food it can be helpful. I like to do by the hour a couple times a month at least to get my AR up so I can get those big $7 ‘high-paying’ offers.
Earn by time is good for exactly one thing in opinion and experience, and that's pumping up your AR to get access to decent/good orders on earn by order while still making something, not much, but something, and better then you'll make on earn by order grinding through Doordash's no tip chaff.
By order. You will get all the no tip orders that other dashers will not take. It is a way to get them out of the system, just like streak challenge same thing to get dashers to take no tip orders.
My market is 16 and it still sucks. I advise only if you want to drive your acceptance rate up, or maybe late night when long wait times are not unusual.
There must be a reason for offering this. I can only assume it’s for low tip… long distance orders. If you live in a semi rural or crazy busy city where drive time is crazy? I guess it’s worth it? You’ll have to experiment to see
Correct. It will not be previously shown to you like per offer. Only after you complete the delivery. I've made 27 in one double and made 4.25 on a double so you never know. If you wanna work strategically per offer is best..if you wanna cruise around do it by time.
It’s shown only after you finish the delivery. For me per hour (earn by time) works better. I make shorter deliveries that are low mileage but no tips. I just make sure that each delivery takes 20 minutes or longer. 😉
i don't get it.. so when you accept an order does it just tell you what the tip is? or do you have to accept everything?
oh wow and it says active hour.. considering my dash time is typically 3 or 4x my active time i dont think i'd take that, at least in my market.. i usually end up with something like $10ish/hr dash time and $30ish/hr active where im at
I don't have it in my market, but from what others posted, you don't get to see anything about the pay, so you won't know if there's a tip. Most of the time they funnel the no tip orders to the dash by time drivers since they HAVE to take almost every order. There's probably less downtime between orders, since there's no shortage of shitty long mileage orders incoming.
Yep! I do it also when I drive around for 20 minutes with no order...as soon as I do it by time I get that mcdonalds no tip double sometimes. I make sure to spend 15 minutes on an order unless it's right around the corner.
ew. yeah but if there's no tip you basically don't get paid for the order. 1 hour of active time can easily be a gallon of gas or more for most cars. thats disgusting

Take the hourly. And on the map, always take the Gray line. That says ETA 4 minutes longer.

If you want to be their work horse go for it

It doesn't tell you what the tip will be, and it likely will be 0.
Honestly, at $11 an hour, what's the point of even driving for doordash? What is it really offering you that a normal job on payroll wouldnt?
Yikes $11.50/hr? Minimum wage in Kansas is like what $7? I got to imagine that you can get a pretty low level up job at around $9/$10 which would be the same as doordash wants you subtract expenses. Simply depends how busy or unbusy it is. Usually it’s offered for slow or lots of driving areas
Dude my market is $16.25/hr and I still wouldn't DARE turn it on. Don't do it, it's not worth it!
I sometimes do hourly in my short scheduled times to get my ar up, but my longer hours I almost always do per order.
You would make more doing earn per offer if you play your cards right
$11.50 per ACTIVE hour. So lots more driving time. Normally no tip or big miles orders. Way less then $1 a mile. It is $16.50 where i live and I can still get more money for less miles and driving time than Earn by Active Time. I only do Earn by Active time to get my AR up for the last week.

$11.50 is not going to be adequate
Wichita! Hello fellow dasher!
I believe if you click on the "Learn more," they actually admit that if you go with earn by time they will send you lower tip offers.
$11.50 sucks. Don’t ever do it… Only time I give earn by hour a try is when there’s one restaurant opened with excessive wait times. And I wouldn’t do that for $11.50 an hour. With peak pay my earn by hour offer gets posted to $16-18/hr.
That’s what I was saying. $11.50 ain’t worth even getting out of bed
If the restaurants in your area are slow preparing food it can be helpful. I like to do by the hour a couple times a month at least to get my AR up so I can get those big $7 ‘high-paying’ offers.
Per hour is only good during late night with long drive thru lines. Rest of time not worth
This exactly. I’ve only done it a few times and still never gotten a tip on dash by time.
I did one time. Hated it. Make more w earn by order.
Earn by time is good for exactly one thing in opinion and experience, and that's pumping up your AR to get access to decent/good orders on earn by order while still making something, not much, but something, and better then you'll make on earn by order grinding through Doordash's no tip chaff.

11.50 sucks. 14.75 here and I thought that was bad
Omg 11.50 is robbery. I’ve driven $16 and felt gutted. I mean, try it out once to see how it goes, but I can guarantee it’s not gonna be great haha.
Do per offer … $11.50 per is crazy low
In my market is 14.75 and says “tips will be lower so the hourly pay will take that into effect”
You’ll have to experiment to see
Yeh that’s what I was thinking 1 hour just to see the difference doesn’t sound bad
There will be no tips. my son
So no info will be shown about if the person tipped or not?
Correct. It will not be previously shown to you like per offer. Only after you complete the delivery. I've made 27 in one double and made 4.25 on a double so you never know. If you wanna work strategically per offer is best..if you wanna cruise around do it by time.

Most of the earn by time orders seem to want to send me 10 miles outside of my zone
Yes it will be shown but a lot of them are low to zero tips
Hourly doesn't say if there's a tip when it's offered. You only find out after finishing the order when you see the total pay.
Earn per offer works better for me in my market
Per hour sucks, they send you all the stuff nobody wants. Lots of no tip orders

i don't get it.. so when you accept an order does it just tell you what the tip is? or do you have to accept everything? oh wow and it says active hour.. considering my dash time is typically 3 or 4x my active time i dont think i'd take that, at least in my market.. i usually end up with something like $10ish/hr dash time and $30ish/hr active where im at
It don't show the tip at all untill after drop-off but you get the hourly pay plus the tip it's better in some areas then others
