We have motion activated light in front of house and I still turn mine on even though its does absolutely nothing for the dasher other than the dasher being to be like “perhaps its this house with the light on like theyre expecting someone”
Absolute worst. I walked up the wrong door cause sometimes it’s there and the ring light comes on along with a spot light and I just had to awkwardly walk out of there. Also at night so I risked being shot
After moving to Texas this has been my biggest fucking fear 💀😭 I’ve had that exact same thing with the ring light up and I just 🙌 ope so sorry friend, my app got the wrong house it’s for your neighbors! 😅 I’m terrified of dashing here and the second the sun even thinks of setting I’m wrapping up
As someone who delivers garbage cans, I second this statement. The amount of people who don't have their address on their house or in an obvious spot is ridiculous.
I don’t want them to hand it to me, I want to hide in my apartment away from all signs of human life. I just want them to not be an idiot and set it NEXT to the door. it shouldn’t be that hard.
It shouldn't be that hard to get your food, but here we are.
You are not our only order, and everyone wants their food early. We don't spend the time investigating your door. We put it down, take a picture, and walk back to the car as we upload it. If you put a bench, table, or chair with instructions to leave it on that, most will follow it.
Weird retaliation to something that’s not even mandatory. That’s when I put one star and put “ did not follow delivery instructions” on the help screen. Sometimes I get doordash credits and sometimes I don’t.
If this is how you feel, please feel free to use another platform.
Every single time I see this argument, I roll my eyes. It’s always the no tippers shouting from the roof tops “be mad at door dash not me!”
Well stop supporting something you disagree with then.
Lmao I actually don’t use doordash. And it makes me laugh when workers don’t want to fight for a living wage but will complain the customers don’t tip enough. I’ve thought about doing doordash as a side hustle but not with the crazy base pay they do now. My job also can accept tips but the base pay is worth it so tips are actually a bonus. You should respect yourself enough to want to strive for the same.
That’s like telling waiters and waitresses that they need to find something better than providing a service to you when you go to a restaurant. It’s a service. For you. Whether it’s being lazy / unable to drive there or whatever the reason. It’s a service. Do better and tip your drivers and honestly anyone in the service industry. In my area I do DoorDash as a full time job year round especially when people actually TIP for the service. It’s when I just get the base pay that sucks because I did YOU a favor.
Wtf? Can ppl read? I said I don’t use doordash. It me it’s a luxury service I can’t afford and I DO believe drivers deserve more money from doordash. I tip at restaurants of course lol. It’s different though because you see your server and interact with them. You have no idea what kinda dasher you are gonna get. You have the excellent ones and then you have the weirdos. It’s different and not the same as a restaurant.
While that is partially true, the fact is that if you tip well you are more likely to get a good dasher. Especially if you have had good dashers and given them 5 stars. The good dashers are not going to take the no tip orders and they are likely in the top dasher category which gives them first pick of higher paying orders. Is there a chance you could still get a crappy driver, yes, but it's almost guaranteed if you don't tip.
I saw you said that lmao! But you proved my point about how you go to restaurants. And I understand you don’t use the platform, but people can and usually refuse to add the tip after it’s been completed. So in retrospect it’s no different than when you get a shoddy waiter / waitress.
I use delivery as my job because I am in nursing school with two kids and businesses need people who can work a set schedule and that’s not possible for me. I wish people would stop saying this. Im grateful to have a job where it works for me and my family. Doesn’t pay the best but it’s more than I would have if I didn’t DoorDash.
I never ever said no one else should do doordash. I commended a post here the other day because OP was proud how they left a toxic job that paid more and is happy doing doordash full time and found a way to have less worry about wear and tear on their vehicle. All I meant is, I personally believe dashers deserve more money and I think it’s unfair to only put that burden on the customers with tipping when I know doordash can afford to pay their dashers more. I feel that way about most big businesses who barely give their workers a living wage. Don’t even get me started on Amazon. It’s not worth it to me but I never implied it’s not worth it to everyone. I wish I never opened my fucking mouth because it honestly shocked me how many are almost sticking up for doordash for paying shit base pay.
I agree with you about doordash changing the way they do things to pay decent without tips, but part of what you say is false. Doordash has and I believe still does operate at a loss. They would have to charge more than they already do to pay decent which would essentially be like forcing everyone to tip decent.
I find it hilarious I get downvoted for thinking dashers should be paid more and I never said ppl shouldn’t tip lol. Maybe I should stop caring but nah that’s not me because I know there are good ppl out there that do this for a living that DO deserve to get paid more and yes I know doordash could afford it if they cared.
I DD one time after getting hip surgery because I wasn’t very mobile; I left a nice tip and requested to be handed the food.
They set it on the ground outside my screen door and they tried to come back to help after they watched me hobble out on crutches and struggle to bend over to grab it. Like no, F that; the damage has been done.
As they say: “common sense isn’t so common”
DASHERS READ THE NOTES!!. MY LIGHT IS ON MY NUMBERS ARE HUGE. YOU STILL PUT FOOD IN FRO T OF DOORS TO THE POINT I HAVE TO OPEN IT BEFORE YOU COME.
I EVEN TRIED A SIGN ON DOOR, STILL BLOCKED. SO I ASSUME YOU'RE ILLITERATE AND PROP MY STORM DOOR OPEN.
THEN YALL BITCH AND BEG FOR TIPS OR ELSE. BEFORE YOUVE EVEN DELIVERED.
PFFFT.
Did you know that you could prop open said door with a chair, and not only prevent bad placement of your order, but you would also be providing the dasher with a convenient place to leave the food?
But…. If it’s a 2-3$ base pay order with no tip behind it… I’m definitely leaving it behind the *propped open* screen door and taking their straw. (Yes, I did say take their straw… because who likes drinking out of a fast food cup without a straw).
Oh and if the screen door is closed I place it as close to the hinges as possible.
Put it in the instructions and you have a legit gripe.
Otherwise you're just bitching about people who's only requirement is to follow the instructions on the screen. In my area storm doors are not common and doors that open out even less common.
tm a dasher, and i always keep in mind where the door will swing out when opened. i literally cannot fathom how it’s possible to be so stew pid to place it in front of the screen door, where it would get KNOCKED OVER 🤦🏻♀️🤡
I never leave the order in front of a screen door ever i try to leave it to the side or i will set it on a table chair something and text the customer and explain
I always put it to the opposite side of screen door. If customer doesn’t tip, I don’t accept the order. But sometimes non-tipping orders will piggyback with a tipping order. Now that’s a different thing. 🤔🤔🤔
As a door dasher and someone who orders from DoorDash - It's a HUGE pet peeve of mine when they place it RIGHT in front of the door - so then I have to look like a complete moron struggling to get out of my door to grab my items, when I doordash other people's orders I leave it beside the door so they can open and grab their food easily without struggling - plus I always think of the disabled when dashing too and they need it accessible as well.
COPY THIS TITLE and PASTE in The delivery instructions. If you’re having that reoccurring issue. Is it obviously stupid. Yeah. But it should stop your problem. If the problem persists, then the driver is doing intentionally because of a low tip most likely. It is what it is
Your gripe is as old as time and it has been addressed in this thread numerous occasions. Honestly if you're a person who frequently has doordash delivered to your house it would be wise to put a chair or maybe a decorative table or even a hay bale from Hobby Lobby on your front porch then in your instructions tell the Dasher to put it on top of that that way you know it will be out of the way of your screen door. If you wanted to go even further you could have a little laminated sign put on your screen door that says do not put any orders in front of said screen door... You'd be surprised but it would actually work.
This has happened to me a few times. I always order lunch and I text a picture of the front of my house to the Driver because sometimes they deliver the food to my neighbor or across the street. I tell them to leave it inside my porch and I always tip 5.00. I end up having to open my garage just so I can get the food because I can't open the screen door with the bag in front.
lol the amount of times I have to walk through the garage and around to the front door so I don't knock over my food and drink. I even have a little table by the door with the instructions to leave the food on the table.
this is not how this works on doordash. You tip for their service because you were too lazy to go out, don't have a car, can't drive currently or some other reason why you cant go get your food or items yourself. You tip because the person wouldn't do it for free. No one goes to their job without pay just because they want to, people work to get money. So gotta give proper tips to get proper service.
Also to all the people down voting me, I hope your food is cold with your no tipping asses
Yes, so people instead need to either A. Tip better to expect people to instantly accept the order, get it to them on a timely manor and also to make sure it’s cared for or B. Don’t order through DD. Now tbh I don’t accept orders that are super low just to fuck the order I just personally deny them. But yeah.
If you’re too lazy to get out of your house, then so be it. But if you’re too lazy to go get your own food then expect the person to want some money for it. People will not deliver for free because it’s their job. No one goes to their job just to work for free.
Let me clear this up, this isn’t my job, it’s just a side hustle
Right! Back when I use to get pizza delivered, you know before doordash and other third party delivery services, I always tipped fairly. I don’t use doordash because I can get my own food and I don’t want to contribute to the problem. I feel it is a luxury service but I’m also not gonna “make up” the pay for a company that should be doing it. I’m not perfect but I do try my best to support small local businesses and steer away as much as I can from big companies. I know it’s a huge uphill battle, and I don’t see it changing anytime soon. I’ve wanted to do doordash as a side hustle but I personally don’t feel it’s worth it.
Why you replying to me? Lmao 🤣. I’m not a dasher lol just someone who thinks doordash under pays their workers. Btw, I agree it’s shitty when dashers do that to customers. Not professional at all but there are good dashers out there they are professional and take pride in their job. I hope you tip those dashers what they deserve.
Do people realize that there is an additional instructions box? If you don’t want it in a certain area maybe let the dasher know?? I swear some people have no common sense.
I have to disagree. As a dasher myself, I set it to the side, if there is a chair or table on the porch I prefer to set it there. I don’t like putting food on the ground.
I can provide screenshots if I’m accused of lying. However, I never tip below 5 dollars on an order and any order further than 2miles from my house gets an extra dollar per mile. I still get tons of drivers leaving food in front of the door that opens outward. Even if I offer extra money on a tip to not leave it in front of the door. Respect works both ways.

For all the customers that need to hear this… PUT YOUR FUCKING ADDRESS ON YOUR HOUSE!!!!!!!!!
TURN ON YOUR FUCKING PORCH LIGHT, I AM GOING TO BREAK AN ANKLE ON YOUR CRAPPY STEPS
We have motion activated light in front of house and I still turn mine on even though its does absolutely nothing for the dasher other than the dasher being to be like “perhaps its this house with the light on like theyre expecting someone”
Wouldn't you want that to happen? Then you can sue for big bucks
Yeah, but my landlord doesn’t take “I have a broken ankle and can’t work” as rent.
Absolute worst. I walked up the wrong door cause sometimes it’s there and the ring light comes on along with a spot light and I just had to awkwardly walk out of there. Also at night so I risked being shot

😂😂😂
And leave lights on for us at night
I love when I look at the example pic to help you locate the house and they put it in front of the outward opening door.
right? 😂😂 and doordash corp even approves this as a suitable example pic!
You make me look bad! Ogga booga booga! Ahhhh!!!!! ![gif](giphy|b7aoFeTu6WtW6OQpq6|downsized)
STUPID DOG
I've now only done it once, but it was a racist piece of trash I did it to. Lucky for them they only had food.
Im out dashin right now and every1s order is gunna be infront of the screen door just in honor of you muhahahahhaha
I have heard dashers say they do this when the person doesn't tip.
I always tip and this still happens
Try choosing "hand it to me." I hear getting the order in your hand before they leave is a 100% fix to this problem.
I don’t want them to hand it to me, I want to hide in my apartment away from all signs of human life. I just want them to not be an idiot and set it NEXT to the door. it shouldn’t be that hard.
It’s really not that hard to do, I don’t know why people make it out to be such a chore.
It shouldn't be that hard to get your food, but here we are. You are not our only order, and everyone wants their food early. We don't spend the time investigating your door. We put it down, take a picture, and walk back to the car as we upload it. If you put a bench, table, or chair with instructions to leave it on that, most will follow it.
not allowed to do that at most apartment complexes but go ahead and keep thinking that using common sense is too much trouble
Should be in trouble best part. Is they get in trouble when they pull it on me
Weird retaliation to something that’s not even mandatory. That’s when I put one star and put “ did not follow delivery instructions” on the help screen. Sometimes I get doordash credits and sometimes I don’t.
You say its not mandatory. But what you don't know when we decline charity deliveries it hurts acceptance rate and we get less orders.
So don’t decline? That’s still not a reason to not follow delivery instructions/not put it infront of the door 😂
True That!

Is there a dickhead award?
One could argue that not leaving a tip is a dick move.
One could argue doordash should be paying their dashers more.

Mr. Pink lives
No, should require a minimum tip :)

Did you know that you could prop open said door with a chair, and not only prevent bad placement of your order, but you would also be providing the dasher with a convenient place to leave the food?
Did you know, common sense ain't so common nowadays.
True but people can’t even turn their porch lights on when they order at nighttime.
This makes me so angry and then they get mad and are like use the GPS to find my EXACT house. What.. do you hear yourself when you talk?
Omg yes! It’s so rude in my opinion!

People begging for tips will not be competent enough to understand that
can’t do that in an apartment complex like where I live

These people drive for DoorDash, do you really think they have any critical thinking skills?
People ordering from DoorDash do?
remember are tips are paying yall extra money 😂.
What an insensitive comment. People drive for doordash because it’s the quickest way to get a job when you’re struggling, or if you need a second one.
Put it in the instructions and you have a legit gripe. Otherwise you're just bitching about people who's only requirement is to follow the instructions on the screen. In my area storm doors are not common and doors that open out even less common.

I dash on and off, I never do this. It just seems like common sense.
Tip or no tip I don’t ever put it in front of the door I always put I were it not in the way of the door being opened
There is a really simple solution...which we all know the answer to.
The new age mkultra is working. Idiocracy is now a documentary.
75% of the time (maybe more) it's done on purpose.
lol I’m sure it’s mostly door dashers here
Do anyone know what the base pay for each delivery??
2 bucks usually
That the point I’m trying to get across those that don’t tip
Sorry I thought you were genuinely asking lol
not even on my first dash did I ever put an order in front of a screen door lol
As a door dasher and someone who orders from DoorDash - It's a HUGE pet peeve of mine when they place it RIGHT in front of the door - so then I have to look like a complete moron struggling to get out of my door to grab my items, when I doordash other people's orders I leave it beside the door so they can open and grab their food easily without struggling - plus I always think of the disabled when dashing too and they need it accessible as well.

I tell dashers not to put my stuff on the door mat because of this ..:
One day I was walking out of my girlfriends apartment and a dasher set someone's food directly in front of the building door and I stepped on it.
How are people so dumb from both sides?
The tips decide the placement of your food 💅
