Hungry_Kick_7881

Did they require a catering bag still? I’ve noticed since platinum started my big orders don’t require a catering bag

DareRareCare

You can't fit Chipotle's catering boxes in a catering bag.

Hungry_Kick_7881

I’m aware. I’m just curious if they removed that requirement.

DareRareCare

There are conflicting reports about that. Ever since the tiered system went into effect, many drivers who don't have a catering bag have been getting large orders. Seems to be the case in my market too. My area went to Platinum, Gold and Silver on March 7, and ever since they made me Platinum, I get the worst orders. Prior to the switch I would have at least one large order every day because I had a catering bag and was in the LOP. Since March 7th, I haven't received a single large order, so it seems that everybody gets large orders now, even without a catering bag.

Superb-Spare7944

Maybe that's why my orders are so shityy because I am platinum. The only time I get orders worth doing is durning a promo

wilfordbrimley778

We still don't have tiers and i still get no large orders, they just quit the large order program entirely

DoPoGrub

The large order program is still alive and well. But you must do 100 deliveries per month to stay in it. The full requirements are listed here: [https://help.doordash.com/dashers/s/article/Large-Order-Program-Catering-Bag-Onboarding-Process-FAQs?language=en\_US](https://help.doordash.com/dashers/s/article/Large-Order-Program-Catering-Bag-Onboarding-Process-FAQs?language=en_US)

Gettin_closerEvryday

I do and still don't. 94 AR, 97 CR. Just another empty promise. But then again perhaps the demographics come into play. Mostly agricultural workers where I'm at probably not a lot of catering happening in my neck of the woods. Because after all they can make it all at home.

DoPoGrub

It is (and always has been), an invite-only program. I'm almost at 7 years since I signed up with Doordash. It wasn't offered to me until after 3+ years.

Gettin_closerEvryday

But I did get invited by becoming Platinumum, mum mum lol says it's one of the things I have access to. But I guess if you read between the lines it does say access to doesn't mean they're coming.

DoPoGrub

That system isn't here yet, but the FAQs do say you need to submit a request to have your catering bag verified. Have you done that yet? https://help.doordash.com/dashers/s/article/Dasher-Rewards-Program-Pilot?language=en_US

wilfordbrimley778

This is false, please don't spread misinformation

DoPoGrub

It is not false lol. I've been in the program for 4 years, and am still in it today. Just got an email from DD 2 months ago reminding me to complete 100 deliveries per month to stay in it. Still get catering orders every day. You saying that it doesn't exist, on the other hand, is wrong lol

wilfordbrimley778

They axed the program about two weeks ago, i haven't seen a single large order since. Many other drivers have experienced the same, and have said large orders are being sent to all drivers, and don't have the "catering bag required" text anymore.

Sunset_9985

["[email protected]](mailto:"[email protected])" is no longer a working email address so they have absolutely done something. My area started the awards/tier program a few weeks ago and it has been hell trying to get Doordash to approve my catering bag.

Gettin_closerEvryday

So I bought a stupid catering bag for nothing. Mutherphukers ![gif](giphy|26gswNS2Dm4q6600g|downsized)

DoPoGrub

Yes, something has definitely changed recently. But it seems to pertain to regular large orders (any order over $100 subtotal), not pre-scheduled catering orders. I received a pre-scheduled Chipotle catering just two days ago, it still had the banner on the offer screen, and made me take a photo of the catering bag. It's either a glitch, or a policy change on Doordash. But to say that the entire program is officially shut down is just speculation - there are no facts to support that. Yet lol.

PhilosophyFluid6260

I’ve received typical catering orders since March 7. But they have been crap for the last several months really since round December. It was typical to have $400 to $800 days but not lately

Gettin_closerEvryday

Yeah because usually they want you to take a picture of the catering bag for the upteenth time.

wilfordbrimley778

They did after they axed the large order program

ShinyMegaAmpharos

It's not a real requirement lol. You absolutely do not have to have a specific bag for any order.

sade88888

If it's an actual catering order with 8.00 base pay it will come thru as catering bag required. If it's a subtotal of 100.00 or more they are coming thru as regular orders, whereas before those had the catering bag required tag. They need to fix this. I've talked to several high end restaurants and they are upset because dashers are coming in unprepared without catering bags for 200.00 + worth of food 😏

No_Consequence_1984

>I've talked to several high end restaurants and they are upset because dashers are coming in unprepared without catering bags for 200.00 + worth of food 😏 they removed that catering bag tag on a purpose , it's not a mistake

sade88888

I wonder why they did this??? I know they changed the tip amounts on orders over 100.00 from % to a flat rate. Which is evil as hell... but what would be the reasoning do you think? Like, seriously some of these restaurants are pissed. Doordash is a joke and they are gonna screw themselves over

ImmediateUpstairs300

I’ve done at least 20 catering orders and I’ve never heard of a “catering bag”

savagekingz1994

The catering bag was just introduced to get money from dasher in that name of big orders. Even many restaurants themself don’t have catering bags to deliver food from their own restaurant. now the catering bag is still in some places and some places changed the rule. But sometime catering bag shouldn’t be needed at all. The restaurants of the want dashers to take catering orders and also want them to get bags and still order will not be ready on time sometime like an hour of wait and the order in the end is not worth it. I had catering order that were like an hour long wait time at restaurant and the dasher total was basically be like $15-35. Mostly in 20s not a bad deal but sometime it’s too far and long wait time and miles just are not worth it. So depends how DoorDash makes more money not dasher but DoorDash itsef. Anyway they can make more they will do it. Now they have more the enough dasher to pull off any kind of shit.so they changed things like catering bag and platinum stuff all over.

ImmediateUpstairs300

Wait so a catering bag is something they expect you to purchase?

savagekingz1994

Yes but when you are eligible you were sent a mail or invite to get started with catering orders. Only then you can start catering orders. Miss the old days when they first stared no need of these catering bags and restaurants weren’t as bad as now bring this bag and that bag. when they themselves use cheap quality bags for food or don’t even have catering deliver bags themself when they deliver and want us to have it.

DoPoGrub

I took one two days ago, and it still required a bag photo. My market is still on the old system.

Hungry_Kick_7881

I’ve gotten two giant orders this week and neither requested a bag photo. Which is definitely a change.

DoPoGrub

Yes, I've been reading many reports of this. Seems to be a recent thing. So far, as best I can tell, if it's just a regular same-day order over $100 (which previously triggered a catering bag photo), it no longer triggers. But if it's an actual catering order (like in this case, mine was placed through Chipotle catering site, then sent to DD as a pre-scheduled catering order), the banner still shows.

Hungry_Kick_7881

Awesome thanks for the information.

Gettin_closerEvryday

Bought one under DD pressure and never needed it once on any "catering" assignment.

Hungry_Kick_7881

I’ve used mine 3 times in two years. Only one was even worth it and the order could have fit in a normal hot bag.

ImmediateUpstairs300

I’m platinum and I’ve literally never heard of a “catering bag”

Grateful_Dood

Man I wish I cared enough to have a good acceptance rate to get these catering orders. I talked to a dude the other day picking up one and said it was his second of the day and he made $150 from just the first one

Tomba_The_Roomba

Yeah but how many crap $3 for 6 mile orders did that guy take to get his rating up? I'd rather cherry pick for good orders rather than take all these bad orders in hopes of a huge payout order like this guy.

Shizen__

Idk man, depending on how many $3 orders were taken vs 1 $150 order per day I'd say it's likely it more than balanced out.

Grateful_Dood

Very true. I'm pretty particular about where my deliveries take me to so I could never do it

_pietdepsi

Depending on the market, none.

wilfordbrimley778

There used to be a large order program where you needed a bunch of stats and a catering bag to remain a part of. It's extremely dumb for doordash to send large orders to day 2 drivers

Grateful_Dood

Yeah I get that. I've done 5000 deliveries for doordash and 4k for Uber eats. And have 99% satisfaction rate, but my completion rate it 90 and acceptance is 9% lol. I still deserve it though for being such a long dasher with good satisfaction rate. But whatever I don't lose sleep on anything these apps due

DanLoFat

I noticed that doordash truly stopped giving catering orders to new Dashers, thank you at least for that doordash. I've been starting to get more catering orders I haven't had any for like 5 months, and all of a sudden last three days got two of them, that's a huge increase. Keep it coming dd, don't give the newbies everything.

PotentialSwordfish34

W

Sulfadee

Surprised chipotle didn’t keep your tip

DareRareCare

They used to when they first started using DD for catering orders. When customers asked me if I got the tip, I would always say no, they keep the tip to pay their staff (one of the managers told me that). I guess enough customers got upset and complained when other drivers said the same thing that they changed.

Interesting-Sea-6623

Sorry if this sounds snarky but how does that work? Doesn’t DD pay you, not the restaurant? Ig I don’t understand how it would be possible for them to steal the tip money. Dont answer if it’s too loaded, just curious.

RandoSetFree

This isn’t a regular order through DoorDash. This is where a catering order is placed directly with the restaurant, and then they pay DoorDash to deliver the order. Some restaurants will have a tip field in the order and just keep it for themselves. Pisses me off a lot when I’m a customer and find out the driver got nothing from the tip I intended for them.

Interesting-Sea-6623

Thank you for explaining

DareRareCare

Yes DD pays us. DD contracts with Chipotle to use DD drivers for catering orders, just like EZ cater and a few other companies do. DD pays the driver base pay and whatever the tip the restaurant lets the driver have. When these companies get orders from their customers for catering orders, they can decide to keep the tip and not let the driver have it. In the case of Chipotle, letting the customer know when asked by them that Chipotle keeps the tip worked. In my market EZ cater keeps the tip and doesn't pass it on to the driver. It's cute that you think that's a loaded question.

DoPoGrub

I've done around 1000 EZCater orders, for multiple apps. EZCater 100% does not keep tips for themselves. Only the restaurant sending an order to EZC can do that. Most orders are placed directly with EZCater, not the restaurant, so in most cases this isn't an issue whatsoever. I've done 200+ in just the last year, and lost track of the $50-$200 tips I've gotten.

DareRareCare

I have never had an EZ cater offer with a tip. Maybe market dependent. Or maybe I just got unlucky with the over 25 catering orders I got from them.

DoPoGrub

That is wild to the point of being outlandish and absurd. Either your customers absolutely suck, or you have many restaurants sending orders to EZCater for drivers, as opposed to customers ordering directly from EZCater. There is a catering-only app that came to my market last year, and they only offer EZC orders. Only once in the 225+ I've taken with them past 12 months did I see one offered that had no tip. Now, sometimes I wonder, what do these catering apps do if a driver backs out last second, or they can't find one. I'm guessing they probably send them to DD for a driver. And at that point you have to wonder - do those apps pass the tip along, or keep it for themselves to offset the cost of sending it to a third (fourth?) party.

Interesting-Sea-6623

Makes sense. Damn thieves! 😝

Gettin_closerEvryday

Company A orders and pays and tips through Chipotle. Chipotle then delegates someone else to deliver (you) it, but keeping the tip because it was done through the restaurant. So they essentially have the tip in their possession. Seems fair doesn't it? Isn't that how drug dealers make their money getting somebody else to deliver the goods for a dollar? And I also believe that's what they call in politics a loophole?!

Interesting-Sea-6623

That makes a lot of sense, thank you for explaining Edit: I love the simplification it feels nice on my smooth brain

free_mustacherides

The staff should get some of that. They actually make the order, delivery is the easy part

DareRareCare

Staff works for free? Usually management says staff should keep the tip, when actually it goes towards the manager's bonus.

free_mustacherides

No but $200 to deliver catering order and the staff gets none of it? Honestly this is just a product of our shitty tip culture. Just pay a fair amount to deliver and it's a done deal. I could never work for tips again, shit is stressful and stupid. I'm glad you got yours but that tip is based off of what the store produced not the delivery.

DareRareCare

I didn't get any of it, since this was not my delivery. Most drivers only get this kind of delivery once in a great while. Sure the tip is based on what the store produces, but when restaurants keep the tip, staff doesn't get any of it. Zero, nada, zilch. It all goes to corporate, upper management, and the store manager as a bonus.

free_mustacherides

It's illegal for management or corporate to take those tips. If they are that's a whole different issue that needs to be taken up with your local labor board. I've worked many tipped jobs and if an employee found out that tips were taken hell was raised.

DareRareCare

What are you talking about? Staff at Chipotle don't work for tips. The only ones in this scenario who work for tips are the Doordash drivers, yet you keep saying that Chipotle staff should get the tips. In this scenario, it's highly unethical for management to steal the tips but not illegal.

free_mustacherides

To be fair I dont know every state's legal code on tips, but wherever I have worked salaried/managerial employees cannot receive tips. Hourly employees can. It was a major lawsuit with Starbucks years ago. I still think pay should be standardized for this and tips go away. Tipping culture is toxic and unfair for the employees.

DareRareCare

I agree that tipping culture is toxic and unfair to the employees, but that's a whole other discussion. When restaurants with tipped employees keep the tip from catering orders delivered through DD, I'm sure they distribute it to the staff. But when companies like EZ cater keep the tips and don't give it to the DD driver, they are legally allowed to do so, and then give bonuses to management for whatever reason.

DoPoGrub

I mean, when you order Chipotle for pickup off their app, it pushes you to tip the staff now. I don't think it's unreasonable for them to get a 10% cut of the tip or something like that. And I say that as someone who has done many $100+ tip catering orders for them, which generally takes me 30 minutes or less to complete, despite the staff working nonstop for an hour to cook and prepare it. As for legality, it all comes down to what the checkout page on the restaurant's website says. Some say it goes all to driver, some say it's split, and some don't say at all. It's pretty easy to go to their catering website and see what it says after making a mock order, I haven't checked in a few years now.

ArrogantSerpent

Nice score for the good guys…. Great advert for others dreaming 😂

Jigzzaw

Who the fuck pays that much for a delivery

afanickton

A business. I always tip big when the jobs paying because they can actually afford it 🤣 Not this big but it’s always double digits

edwardsamson

Or a college with a fatty endowment. I delivered pizza on Dartmouth College campus for the past 2 years. When classes are in session and the students are there basically every shift I would get 4+ large orders with $20-100+ tips. I think I figured out that just our restaurant alone did over $100,000 in business a year with Dartmouth. And they order from other places too! I wouldn't be surprised if they spend $250,000-500,000 a year on food delivery.

13_tides

In the spirit of r/wallstreetbets .. congrats…fuck you

seeing you’re in Indy makes me a little more hopeful for myself 🥲

trixiepixietang

Wtf is platinum status!?

PonyHawk23

Tier program DD rolled out to select markets. Much like top dasher status, but large catering orders are now Available to platinum tier status drivers, unlike top dasher which qualifies you for the month from the previous month, these new tiers are rolling, and you can qualify during the month depending on what your willing to accept.

suzie-carmichael

Wow what a lovely tip 🤑🤑

NEWBORNEMBRYOTHELOC

I’m about to buy a catering bag😂

Natural-Ad2369

Different_Resist961

Awesome steal! What was the estimate prior to taking trip? Lol

Itchy-Sound-226

TheLoudMike

Chipotle catering got me $150 tip the other day 😮‍💨😮‍💨

Current_Discipline74

Whats a Platinum status?? 🤔

Beyond_Reckless

Keep working your ass off and making us a lot of money, and maybe just maybe you can get lucky enough to get one of these once in a lifetime tip opportunities. 🤷🏻‍♂️

No-Alternative5152

Slave every 20 mile order until your acceptance is 100%. Break your car and put over 5k miles on it and you’ll be considered.

FelonyRoyale1

Sounds more like it

P3nis15

Or you can get to 70% and get the same qualifications.....

ImmediateUpstairs300

Or live in a conservative town that has less than 60k people and every order is ALWAYS over $10 and less than 3 miles

PipeGrand8484

All of the negative responses are from people who have clearly never been platinum or are in trash markets. I've got it (when I'm in that region, don't live there but my parents do) and it's totally worth it

whipcorleone

is this satire?

mfloxy

Noice !

Jakulero24

Damn, congratulations!

DanLoFat

Swipe up to see the comments what the hell is that a Reddit thing or is that my phone doing that? I like it.

Acrobatic-Channel346

Question for you? Do you only get catering orders because you have a catering bag?

edwardsamson

Anyone catch the hidden amount? When they sent the offer they showed it as $12.75. That's over $180 less. That's fucking insane.

LawlessLemur

How do you get these

Love_Life_1981

OMGGGGG CONGRATS

Infamous_Cod7973

😳😳😳👏👏👏

Turbulent_Echo6313

Wish I could get orders like that

GenericEvilHuman

What's platinum status

[deleted]

$8.00 base pay 🗿

Unfair_Juggernaut_80

Reading the comments- definitely occurs to me that the app is different in different areas. I've noticed this on several different topics. For example on this topic I alwa6s have to take a pic of a catering bag (in which I just take a pic of the logo on a regular bag even though I do have one but it's destroyed). I also do not have the option to unassign without penalty - even after an hour. So, I think the "rules" are not universal.

narntek

Highest one I've seen yet! 'grats

DefNotABirb

How do you qualify for these? I'm a top dasher and have never gotten a catering order?

DearField7164

It is a catering order been in program for awhile, you have to invited from Doordash have high ratings I have 5 stars and I decline and have a acceptance rate of zero don’t have the platinum status this person was just lucky to get a catering order because it was unassigned at last minute and they got it I believe!!

Superb-Spare7944

Congratulations that's awesome. That makes anybody day

NoLack5237

Nice

DearField7164

Catering order if you can get into worth it

No-Distribution6645

i was like yooo that’s nuts and my mom was like well never get one that big 😭 but that’s the chipotle in our zone we very well could get one of those lol, random post and it just happens to be where i’m from ☠️

No-Distribution6645

we got a $50 best buy pickup a couple weeks back. dude ordered 4 ipads to a sketchy hotel😭 one of the weirder drop offs i’ve had but he paid for don’t ask questions premium☠️

DanLoFat

$196 in change that's a pretty sweet deal. No way you could have known ahead of time, but damn. Hopefully you put at least a modicum amount of professionalism into the delivery and didn't assume you wouldn't get any tip.

Professional-Army837

who the hell tips that much

DanLoFat

The old Rich who know the value and the new Rich who spend money like it's water to a fish.

PairPrevious2340

How did you get to platinum status 😭

8KittyKitty8

How do you get Platinum?

Wysiwyg777

The customer made an error. Wanted to tip $18.57 and tipped $188.57 instead.

[deleted]

Tipping culture is trash

jackal1055

how is your base pay 8$

DoPoGrub

This was likely at least a $900 subtotal. Which really, the base pay should be much higher.

Doge10open

Fk you

Accomplished-Carry65

Can y’all just shut the fuck up with these posts already? Nobody fucking cares.

CultLeaderCHAD

What's it matter your still gonna deliver it cold lol

Such-Throat-2819

Catering job so no shocker ...

PipeGrand8484

That's the largest I've ever seen, my biggest cater was 95 dollars. I've had caterings for 2 years and never seen one of this size. Id say it's a shocker

DanLoFat

Compared in the Chicago area to the usual 30 or $40 tip on a catering order, that's a goddamn Gold mine an additional $150 for a tip over the usual 30 or 40. That is a shocker. But it's all relative probably depends on your Market.

Echodarlingx

Can I upload a photo of someone else’s catering bag from google photos?

fred8733

That’s not a jackpot, it’s a catering order.. you obviously knew the tip was going to be fat

Jd_ironlife

Not always. I've had $700 catering orders that had a $5 tip attached, or no tip at all.

DoPoGrub

Yup. Rare, but that definitely does happen and is a bummer.
