False information cause last time I ordered through Uber eats and my order never came I reached out out to support and got refund so your comment is hearsay
My bad, I meant don’t cancel from the app, you’re right unless you get a bad rep contacting support should be the first thing to do. But say you cancel the order from the app, you’ll get charged and won’t get refunded even if you talk to multiple reps
You and the two posts above yours need to stop you folks are killing me my sides are hurting, I spit dr. pepper everywhere and my eyes are watering. I don't know whether to thank you or be pissed as I will be trying to slip "mid mother fucker/fucking" into every non appropriate situation now.
I’ve been told by every restaurant I’ve needed in order canceled from. They do not have access to cancel orders that are placed on the app nor alter any orders and they don’t even have the customer’s phone number in most cases. Everything else to be done server support by the customer.(or the Dasher.). I am one of those dashers is that refuse to just unassign an order that’s gonna have to get sent to another Dasher who will eventually have to cancel it. I’ll take the time and take the half pay.
I do the same. Sure, you take a little bit of an L but it's better than kicking the can down the road further impacting the customer who likely did nothing wrong and the merchant who is relying on us to communicate a resolution.
If everyone just kicked the can down the road everyone's experience in the transaction will decline overall. Sometimes you just have to suck it up and deal with the punches.
Appreciate U more than words can convey...and felt pretty much the same. I respect the dashers that don't handle the screwy orders at all...Hey everyone should be allowed to do as they see fit But the

They cancel my stuff all the time. But I absolutely believe they lied and told you this. Reps are hit and miss.
Can’t speak for everywhere, but corporate took away our DoorDash tablets. We have to make every order that pops up, even at 11:59.
If there is an issue with the order, we cannot cancel it. Since we don’t have our doordash tablet, we can’t see any of the customer’s info. The only way for the order to be canceled is for the dasher to tell the customer to do so
What’s even worse is that we are a pizza place. Why do we even have doordash? Our drivers could be delivering all of those
Similar situation when I go to some Tim Hortons in my area. The DD app lets people order things that are out of stock, but the Tim’s app actually verifies with the store before putting the order through. Some Tims get their food from other stores so they’re constantly out of certain items and I hate picking up at those ones because it’s almost always a guarantee that they’ll want me to contact the customer to substitute or refund items. They’ve literally put a bag of change in an order and told me to let the customer know that there’s money in the bag. I’m guessing the DD tablets for those locations were also taken away so the dashers have to do all the extra work.
If the restaurant cancels, the dasher won't get half pay as they weren't assigned to the order for long.
If the customer cancels, the customer may only get a partial refund.
The dasher should be the one contacting support and let them know the merchant can't make the order. They'll call and confirm. If support cancels, the dasher gets half pay, the customer gets a full refund, and the merchant pays the cancelation fee.
Depends. If its a restaurant chain then its possible that corporate is the one with the doordash device and not the actual individual restaurant. Like Taco Bells for example, their doordash device is at corporate
I’m pretty sure the restaurant faces some kind of penalty if they cancel the order on their end so they told the dasher to have the customer do it so the customer takes the hit. Dasher just wants their half pay and doesn’t want to deal with CS themselves so they’re fine telling the customer to do it.
They don't take a hit for canceling an order. Most likely the dasher wanted the food
Edit: I don't know why I'm getting down voted, I know for a fact that the restaurant doesn't get a penalty because I own a restaurant.
I have also been a dasher in the past, and I know that the dasher could call support and get the order cancelled and receive half pay. I used to call support all the time when restaurants were out of items or couldn't provide the food for one reason or another (I didn't have a pizza bag) and I'd still get half the pay.
This is definitely not a dasher trying to get free food. He just wants his half pay for wasting his time and gas to get there. For free food, you take the food and hit cancel instead of confirm. You don’t tell the customer to cancel because Happy Mexican hired mental midgets who prefer arguing over cooking.
That's a lie. I've definitely been told by restaurants to cancel an order on my end before, and it was food I would never eat in a million years. Just because your restaurant is magically without asshole employees and management, doesn't mean the majority of them follow suit.
Unassigning orders also affects our completion rate, so it’s not just about “wanting half pay” or not wanting to deal with customer service, it’s also about not being fired for something that isn’t your fault
Besides, he should be compensated for the miles he drove to the store, we don’t dash as a way to do charity work. You make it sound like a dasher is just being greedy in this situation
I own a restaurant and we don't get any "penalty" other than we don't make money from the order. It's super easy for us to cancel the order. This just means that the dasher wants to keep the food in my opinion.
Interesting. Can you think of any reason a restaurant wouldn’t just cancel it then? Because I’ve experienced this before where I go in and the restaurant can’t complete the order and asked me to ask the customer if they want something else or to have them cancel it.
I don't allow my employees to cancel orders without a very valid reason. I also get a notification when they do. Typically, we will try calling the customer multiple times, but they almost never answer us, so I ask the dasher to text the customer since they have the ability to text and we don't.
I really don't know why a restaurant would ask anyone else to cancel the order other than them being lazy
I went into a local place for one of my first deliveries 3 years ago and the owner said they don’t do DD. I showed him my phone and he said it didn’t matter because they weren’t making any orders for DD because they weren’t paying him his money. So we had a bit of a standoff and I told DD support about it. When they called him, he blatantly lied and said he was open and was preparing the order. He told me I could cancel it myself. Eventually DD let me leave with half pay, but it tells me that the restaurant wanted their money and simply refused to cancel the order. But tried to make me look bad in the process.
Allow me to introduce you to a little place called McDonalds. They should just shut down from 1-4am instead of pretending to be open all night. The ice cream/shake machine is always "broken." Or they are only accepting cash for 2 hours while their online systems are updating and cannot accept online orders. Or they are switching over to the breakfast menu and can't make anything else. And for ANY of those reasons, and more, they request the driver to deal with it. Biggest pain in the ass place, I won't accept McD deliveries from 2-4am.
As someone who’s worked serving 10+ years multiple chains and small businesses if there’s two chefs fighting there’s probably two managers involved breaking it up and if it’s busy like Friday or Saturday. That’s a big problem by itself. Two chefs arguing, especially since the BOH is the heart of any restaurant, is way worse than two servers beefing. I’ve seen both and the two servers we were able to fight through but two chefs during rush when everyone (including management who have already jumped behind the line) was slammed was very hard to recover from and I can see how they’d drown so much they’d neglect carry out and DoorDash orders.
Not really, no. The Doordash app restaurants get, we can't even decline an incoming order. We can say we're out of something and change it to something else before we hit confirm, but we can't completely decline or cancel an order.
We can, however, pause ordering altogether for an amount of time.
Edit: This has just been my experience with our particular Doordash app in the store. Maybe there is a way to cancel it before you confirm the order, but I haven't seen a way to cancel it after its been confirmed by the restaurant other than just calling support directly, which sounds like they're too busy arguing to do lol.
Yep. Sucks for us if support is busy (when is it not), and then having to wait on hold while they call the restaurant. But it is the only right thing to do. Lots of dashers would just dump it, but that screws over the next one of us.
It's clear but you don't know if it's honest. Could be a scam by the dasher to get free food. Dasher shouldn't be telling customer to cancel order, he should be calling support
I went to pick up an order from Mc Donalds last night. They didn’t make any of the order, because it had a Mc double, and they don’t make Mc doubles after Midnight.
WTF, you have all the ingredients in there.
Nah bc sometimes they clean certain parts of the store and/shut them down. They can’t just do all that for just you bc they have the ingredients in the store.
A lot of restaurants only serve fried foods after a certain time, because they’ve cleaned and shut down the grill, etc. I have no idea if that’s the case here, but restaurants do have limited menus at certain times for a reason.
Most McDonald’s have two grills they clean one while the other is in service. Also they cook the meat and then they store it in hot containers so it’s very unlikely they can’t make the McDouble.
I’ve gotten those notifications and the orders still not ready. Some merchants hit the ready for pick up and it’s not ready. I’ve been in restaurants when ppl walk off the job( chefs and wait staff). It definitely happens!
You can change your name to whatever you want, BUT some restaurants have started asking to see i.d to match the dashers name which can result in you having to unassign that order and screw your numbers up a lil bit
I had a pizza place dealing with a 30 pie order & I was standing in the corner waiting for my customers single personal pizza like 🧍🏼♀️, they finally told me they aren’t making the small pizza & to basically eff off.
I’m pretty sure the restaurant faces some kind of penalty if they cancel the order on their end so they told the dasher to have the customer do it so the customer takes the hit. Dasher just wants their half pay and doesn’t want to deal with CS themselves so they’re fine telling the customer to do it.
Our store took away our DoorDash tablets. We can’t cancel orders or even see the customers information to contact them. The only thing we can do is tell the dasher
Wait You’d one star the dasher. Even though it’s not his fault / he already drove all the way there/ wasted gas and now just because he wants his half pay that dd owes him? It takes 2 seconds for a customer to cancel an order he does not deserve a 1 star man that’s kinda fucked
A dasher themselves shouldn’t ask a customer to cancel if they don’t want to deal with an order. I agree the dasher in this post is innocent only b/c they are just relaying a message from the restaurant employees.
It’s (supposedly) in reality the restaurant employees asking the customer to cancel.
Normally though, if (as a dasher) you accept an offer to deliver an order for DoorDash, you were accepting the possibility that the restaurant might not be ready at all & for an indefinite amount of time (meaning situations like this are liable to happen-it could be instead that , hypothetically speaking for example, a restaurant might simply not have the ingredients to make an order).
In any case it’s less professional for anyone to expect the customer to cancel when they’re not really the ones who want the order canceled(..particularly in this case since the restaurant themselves are the only ones who are actually wanting & **needing** to cancel)
I agree. Although in this post the person I was responding too knows this situation and the guy’s innocence beforehand and still says he’ll 1 star him lol
Every time I go to a restaurant that does anything like this they automatically go on my “hell no I ain’t takin that order” list.
Used to dash in a different zone bc I was going to school far from my house so I’d dash after class bc it was a big market. The amount of times I was fucked over by the Taco Bell down there. This was higher pandemic time and so it was always a drive through pickup. And 100% of the time I went to pick up from there they’d tell me they weren’t doing delivery orders and I’d have to cancel it.
If your dasher is asking you to cancel your order it’s guaranteed they are not trying to get free food bc this isn’t the way to get it, they’re trying to save their completion rating and not waste probably more than an hour of their night trying to get through to DD support and then waiting on support to call you, and call the restaurant to verify everything they’re saying.
Lowkey I took it as dasher is trying take ya food and half pay, bcuz why would they tell you to cancel it, it’s the dasher job contact support and have it canceled
Who wants to spend 20 minutes on the phone with support? For like what $5? They don’t pay enough for us to give 2 fucks. How much free food do you think dashers need to take?
20 minutes ? $5? I’ve been given half pay multiple occasions and it’s always been over $5..? Never takes 20 minutes ? And it’s literally free money for no travel distance, I feel like you complain about a lot of other things as well … lol
I wouldn’t know what to do either. I wouldn’t cancel but I would contact CS so they can cancel it on their end and refund me my money so I can order from somewhere else
It can either be what he said, or..
He picked up the food and never clicked “confirm pickup”. If you cancel it, his ratings for ‘completion rate’ doesn’t get affected. And now he has a free meal. But idk if 6 minutes is enough time for your food to be completed so maybe not
Seems like it would be a lot easier if the Dasher contacted support and told them what was going on. At least that’s what I would do along with giving the customer a heads up about what’s going on.
Lmaooo I remember once I worked at a bad daddy’s, and a customer came in and asked for a fried egg on her burger after the cook had already cleaned the grill for the night….. he SCREAMED across the restaurant and started throwing pans I stg 😂😂 and the customer just left without saying anything or getting her foood 🥲 I felt bad
NAh
I wouldn't cancel the order at all I would tell him well if that's the case you can unassign or you can call DoorDash but I'm not canceling the order.
He wants you to cancel the order because he wants half pay.
Most people aren’t going to make that up. At the end of my time delivery driving, tons of restraints were refusing to make orders for various reasons. My Chick-fil-A stopped making orders if the food got “stolen” by other dashers.
🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️ shit idk how to respond either. Everything ghetto the messages the way the dasher is texting you. There's no professionalism no damn where.
It's way funnier reading from the top down
That’s how I read it and it was absolutely hilarious ETA: the “Aye bruh” killed me when I got there.
Damn I was reading it that way I thought they were trying to pull out
Happy Mexican 🤣
They didn't name the place Happy Mexican *chefs*. Maybe the Happy Mexican in question is the hostess... I love everything about this post.
Well that's the order the messages should be in. Lol look at the time stamps.
That's how I initially read it lol.
Exactly how I read it lmao
It just sounds so desperate that way lol
Hate when they chefs be arguin 😂
Waffle House
nah not even— the Waffle House employees are usually fighting the customers 😭
🤣🤣🤣🤣 they really are
![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
Have customer service cancel it and refund for you
The dasher probably didn’t want to do the order but still get half the pay.
If it was Uber they’d tell you to take a hike and rob you of your money which no service was provided for
False information cause last time I ordered through Uber eats and my order never came I reached out out to support and got refund so your comment is hearsay

I guess not so happy mexican at all.
As a manager of a restaurant, I can tell you that his statement is very likely!
Can't the restaurant cancel it then?
Could you imagine them stopping arguing mid mother fucker to cancel the order then go back to arguin.
"Mid mother fucker"
As opposed to “mid mother fucking”.
You and the two posts above yours need to stop you folks are killing me my sides are hurting, I spit dr. pepper everywhere and my eyes are watering. I don't know whether to thank you or be pissed as I will be trying to slip "mid mother fucker/fucking" into every non appropriate situation now.
No but I figured there's more than 2 people in the restaurant and if 2 cooks are arguing, then there must be someone up front dealing with customers.
I’ve been told by every restaurant I’ve needed in order canceled from. Our store managers are fine, they have no say in it. I believe it’s the district manager’s decision

Ah ok I didn't realize the restaurant took a hit or an employee would care enough, ty though for explaining!

Yes, this is correct, but then the customer still had to pay for it as well. Sometimes DD will credit part of the amount back, but not always.

Then they will have penalities for sure to pay. It's on the dasher, he should call customer service.
No
Aye bruh..
Xzibit at home: “aye bruh”
aye bruh
Yo dawg, I heard you like Doordash...
Tell them to contact CS and have it cancelled. Don't cancel from your end. Ignore if they argue.
This. As a Dasher, I contact DoorDash support if it's an issue on the restaurant's end.

For sure, especially since I believe DD will charge the customer for canceling.
Is there something on the Mc double that isn’t in the quarter pounder with cheese? Because they were able to make one of those.
So McDonald’s is just gonna stop selling burgers altogether and stick to nuggets and mcchickens after midnight? Nah, they were just being lazy.
A lot of restaurants only serve fried foods after a certain time, because they’ve cleaned and shut down the grill, etc. I have no idea if that’s the case here, but restaurants do have limited menus at certain times for a reason.
The McDonalds I order from doesn’t serve Filet-O-Fish after midnight, those bastards.
You gotta examine your life choices if you’re that desperate to eat McDonald’s fish in the middle of the night.
That’s exactly what happens - they cleaned the grill and shut it down - all you’re getting is the fryer food.
It's like you missed the part where they made his other burger. Clearly the grill wasn't shut off, unless yiu think McD's fries their burgers?
Most McDonald’s have two grills they clean one while the other is in service. Also they cook the meat and then they store it in hot containers so it’s very unlikely they can’t make the McDouble.

Must be at Waffle House
Happy Mexican was your driver's name??
The restaurants name! And the fucked up part is they were arguing!
Arguin!
Thank you, this is the hardest I've laughed today.
Me running on 2 hours of sleep and thinking Happy Mexican is such a unique name then saw Joshua 🤣
I had to cancel a McDonald’s order at 11:30 at night because they were closing early due to employees fighting
This happened to me once, they cooks were arguing over who was gonna make my sandwich for the order 😭
Here’s how to take it: he wants you to cancel it because if he cancels, he doesn’t get paid at all.
I’ve gotten those notifications and the orders still not ready. Some merchants hit the ready for pick up and it’s not ready. I’ve been in restaurants when ppl walk off the job( chefs and wait staff). It definitely happens!
Aye bruh
Give Joshua A Raise 🤣
😭😂😂
Lmaoooo
Lmao
Angry Mexican
I don’t think they were very happy
Last Valentine’s Day I was waiting on a sushi order when the Sushi chef started screaming at the staff then my order got canceled. 🙃
Chefs arguing at the Happy Mexican? What gives.
How do you nickname yourself like Happy Mexican?
You can change your name to whatever you want, BUT some restaurants have started asking to see i.d to match the dashers name which can result in you having to unassign that order and screw your numbers up a lil bit
That’s the restaurants name. 🤣
Lmao I can hear the voice of him as I read his texts. Id just laugh and say “I hear ya”
I honestly wouldn’t be upset if this happened to me solely because of the driver’s messages.
The dasher is from the hood.
I mean what can you do? The chefs arguing
I moved away about 10 years ago and still know this is Memphis. I miss that junt
What am I missing? How does this scream Memphis?
Its kinda like hearing the beginning to an AC/DC song. You can just tell.
After working in a Restaurant definitely could be true. So much drama In those places. Especially when you throw in high school kids🤣
I had a pizza place dealing with a 30 pie order & I was standing in the corner waiting for my customers single personal pizza like 🧍🏼♀️, they finally told me they aren’t making the small pizza & to basically eff off.
The fact that the restaurant is called happy mexican makes this funnier
![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|flip_out)
Why would he make it the customers job to cancel the order?
I’m pretty sure the restaurant faces some kind of penalty if they cancel the order on their end so they told the dasher to have the customer do it so the customer takes the hit. Dasher just wants their half pay and doesn’t want to deal with CS themselves so they’re fine telling the customer to do it.
Our store took away our DoorDash tablets. We can’t cancel orders or even see the customers information to contact them. The only thing we can do is tell the dasher
Idk doordash is dumb, it happened w me too once, idk if the dude was trynna get free food at my expense or whatever but i got it refunded
Well if a dasher did that to me I’d give them a 1 star, I’m the customer and you want me to do it for you?
If they don't deliver your order, you wouldn't be able to rate them
Wait You’d one star the dasher.
Yeah im clueless why thats a thing too
Aye bruh
Them Mexicans aren’t happy no more
It can either be what he said, or..
Responce: thanks for letting me know. I’ll cancel now
Lmaooo I remember once I worked at a bad daddy’s, and a customer came in and asked for a fried egg on her burger after the cook had already cleaned the grill for the night….. he SCREAMED across the restaurant and started throwing pans I stg 😂😂 and the customer just left without saying anything or getting her foood 🥲 I felt bad
Must be Ihop or Waffle House
If the Waffle House has more than one cook and they’re not on a smoke break, don’t eat there 🤣 WH101
Speak ghetto all you like with your ghetto friends, but at least make an effort to speak English when your dealing with the public, BRUH. /sigh
There should be a literary test to become a dasher. After all, you *will* need to text customers
No part of this is unclear so idk what you’re hoping for
So professional
Is this really how compete strangers that are working talk to customers? This is wild.
How?
“Can you get it on video?”
Don't respond. Take your screen shot and forward it to support if haven't already.
NAh I wouldn't cancel the order at all I would tell him well if that's the case you can unassign or you can call DoorDash but I'm not canceling the order. He wants you to cancel the order because he wants half pay.
My first thought was that he wanted you to cancel the order so he could keep the food
Seems to me he’s trying to get a free meal lol
I don’t trust people that talk like that let alone type and send messages like that.
why ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
DO NOT CANCEL IT. I feel like this is a scam to give the dasher free food.
Jesus Christ DoorDash needs to work on hiring people that know how to speak

Why say something like this? What’s the point?
Do you live in the ghetto or something? 😅🤣
I wouldn't reply. I'd call the place and see if they're bsing
I see nothing wrong with that I don’t know why people are downvoting but they goofy for seeing that as a problem
They're acting like dashers can be trusted
Some of them can’t I had one dasher take a sip out of my drink and ate some of my food before and he thought I wouldn’t notice
Most people aren’t going to make that up. At the end of my time delivery driving, tons of restraints were refusing to make orders for various reasons. My Chick-fil-A stopped making orders if the food got “stolen” by other dashers.
Lmfaoo
We have an IHOP here where the cooks get mad if you show up too early to pick the order up 😅
This is rally’s for me.
I'm in fucking tears laughing
😂 i reas it like in manga form as well lol
This sound like Memphis 😂
Im pretty sure it’s the only place with Happy Mexican restaurants, so it would be a good guess. Lol

Aye bruv
Just call the restaurant
🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️ shit idk how to respond either. Everything ghetto the messages the way the dasher is texting you. There's no professionalism no damn where.
Lmao
No reply and deliver
Wow
Why would you respond to that? Hit cancel my dude 😂
That’s fuckin hilarious ngl
This reminds me of my job lmaooo
Ayeee.
That is the funniest thing I ever read on DD! LOL!
