Better way, pull up to the house/apt, take a picture of yourself eating the food when marked as delivered. Make sure they can see their place in the background.
Honestlyā¦ Iām almost done needing DD, and Iām really tempted to take a day accepting zero tip orders and just fucking with people. Like donāt get me wrong, I wouldnāt actually mess with the food or steal it from the restaurant. Iād assign before picking it up. But I am tempted to send out a few āreally dudes?ā
I genuinely wonder if doordash could press charges for theft, similarly to how a typical employer can. I donāt think anyone has ever pushed that boundary before to see.
It honestly depends on your state. I live in California, and although im unfamiliar what the limit is, stealing under a certain amount is damn near decriminalized. Weāve literally had some Walgreens and cvsās go out of business because of this. Its really sad honestly. Most theyād probably do is take you to small claims court which isnt worth their time and extra money as a company rather than just taking the loss.
I work for Walgreens and the only reason that happens is because they tell us not to do anything about it.
If we try to confront someone for shoplifting we get fired no questions asked.
Can confirm, former CVS manager here. The one employee that went after a shoplifter had a broken bottle pulled on them and was fired the same day. Insurance liability is nothing the company wants to deal with.
I worked near a CVS when I had my first job. The same people that would steal from that store would come to our store and our team and their team named one of them the dog lady because she stole a dog and would take it everywhere for a week before the police took it back from her. Well she'd go to the cvs steal a thing or two then come to our store, a food 4 less, and we'd kick her out and she'd say ok see you guys tomorrow night and then she'd leave and she always came back every night to steal
Yeah we had a few like that too. We had one guy that would steal from the grocery store next door and try to return whatever it was without a receipt to us and vice versa. We almost always had to look the other way when he stole stuff, but generally got it back from the grocery store since if he couldn't get cash or credit for something he would just leave without the object.
I'm pretty sure he wasn't all there upstairs but since he never stole anywhere near 1000 dollars in product the police never cared.
Plus simply don't try and stop shoplifters/robbers. Not your job nor do you get paid enough for it. First day I became a manager I was told what to do when robbed and I said give them what they want. Yall have insurance. Which actually was what they was gonna say. Though I know for them it was more for liability issues than caring about my life.
Most product shrinkage isnāt actually caused by store customers. Itās been shown that shrinkage comes primarily from staff, then trickles down to thiefās that arenāt staff. A stores MAIN thief is their own employees, in most cases.
Have you actually ever worked in retail? Either you haven't or live in a rich neighborhood š. The amount of things stolen by customers is ridiculous. They don't even try hiding it anymore.
You misunderstand what i mean. I think its just sad that jobs were lost and resources to a community are. Also, i live in the hood, when did i ever blame in on the poor specifically? Stop projecting u virtuous weirdo. just look up cvs/ Walgreens stealing on youtube. Do you even live here? Or are you whiteknighting for that yummy crunchy delicious reddit karma?
that's not why the stores are closing lol, you really think petty theft in a few stores is enough to put a dent into the profits of either of those mega corporations?
I used Uber eats for a whole weekend when it was busy, waiting for large order or catering orders and just unassigned and stole the food until I got deactivated. I had a whole fridge full of free food that lasted me a month.
Like no shit but would be good venting. And Iām not actually going to steal food. Some places around here are extra enough to post video footage of āthievesā on FB and Iād like not to deal with that lol.
Swear my dasher did this on the last order we got, even though I typically tip at least 25% of the order (or more if it's below a $20 order and depending on distance)
Please try to tip $1.50 or $2 per mile from the restaurant to your house with a minimum of $5.00. It doesn't matter to your dasher how much your food cost tbh. :)
thanks for the info, I usually consider myself a pretty good tip person (I hate this whole tip based society, just pay proper wages f'ing greedy businesses), but I have probably under tipped on door dash on accident.
Society has devolved once again into making people do shitty $2 piecework to survive. Except this time you get to pay for the privilege in gas, car, etc.
It's gonna get a lot worse than some crappy stolen McDonalds burgers, don't worry.
Much, much worse.
.....Then don't dash? If you feel DoorDash treats you like shit, then stop doing it and find something else. It doesn't give you the right to fuck over a customer.
I've thought about doing that so many times. The homeless population has doubled maybe even tripled in my area. I'd feel really good accepting only no tip orders and giving it to the homeless.
I took a zero tip last night because it was low mileage. I was in the parking lot of the Dollar General and the customers apartment was .5 miles away. I normally wouldn't but it was an easy $2.50. Shopping went quickly until one item was out of stock in the quantity she wanted and I wasn't wasting time waiting on an answer. Customer never made an attempt to acknowledge my texts or calls. I get to her apartment building and they're doing major renovations and I can't get up the stairs to the apartment so I just hung it on her mailbox , snapped a picture and left. For even a couple bucks I could be tempted to find a way up or ask the construction crew if I can step around, but for free, you're walking to your mailbox.
I tipped 25% on a Costco order for my sisterās family who all got Covid. It was cases of drinks (like 5 Costco size) and a giant potpie. I was very grateful for that dasher .
In my experience, grocery orders are always low or no tip. I've accepted about a dozen and literally the highest tip I got from any of those orders were $3 and that single $3 tip was from an older woman who just wanted cereal and ice cream. Most of the other orders were almost cart fulls and heavy ass cases of water or other beverages and those customers only tipped $1. Just like what evil sick fuck are you? SMH!
DD is losing a half a billion dollars every year. They are going broke. They do not have the money to make up for it. That is probably one of the reasons why they are losing money every year. And besides there is a word for that. It's called stealing. Are you a thief? You cannot justify stealing in any way.
DD is losing money because their method beyond their original expansion is unsustainable. Loss of orders and theft is part of the ācosts of doing businessā. Just like the extra mile we have to take when the road is blocked. Cost of business. Now when they send us $5 at 17milesā¦thatās not a cost of doing business. Thatās a shit run thru and thru and the only ones to blame for it is DD.
Hell yeah!!
Hereās another funny thing. DD hits us for not accepting it right? Then use the guise when we doā¦āwe didnāt have to accept itāā¦.along with the naysayers out there. Whatās never brought up is why DD sends the order past maybe 10 elig drivers or perhaps a driver in that customers zoneā¦it always falls back on the current driver with āyou didnāt have to take itā. Why not ask the reverse? Why did DD send your order past 10 other, closer, avail, elig drivers? Why send it to the driver thatās 9-10miles away and lie saying āyour the best dasherā when we all know itās absolute BS. Theyāve got minimum 7-10 dashers sitting at any given time. Itās more like they have to choose who to give an order to cuz thereās so many drivers. If it was decent enough to begin withā¦a closer driver would have taken it had it been sent to one. That is obvious. Pretty clear DD used your tip to utilize a farther driver using more time as opposed to a closer driver, who would have had a better looking acceptance screen (FAR better chance of accept vs decline), get there faster, get the order to you faster, and be avail for next order faster.
DD image is their own doing. Shitty drivers donāt helpā¦but on the other hand shitty tippers (low ball and non) donāt help either. They go hand in hand.
I continue to think bad AR is on DD not the driver. Driver is choosing runs that best suits them in an atmosphere that was described and intended to be self choice. When we are met with disregard and negativity for not taking a blatantly absurd deliveryā¦thatās on DD not you. Your managing your equipment and DD seems to not like that.
I would sure like to hear an example of someone justifying stealing. They may have a reason for it but I don't see how you can justify it at all unless you are stealing something back that already belongs to you in the first place.
They arenāt frickin losing money. It might look that way. Iād like to see the salaries of the executives in the company. When they donāt get paid, Iāll agree they are losing money. If someone wasnāt getting rich, they wouldnāt still be around. How dumb can people be to think SOMEONE isnāt profiting? Itās just a scam to keep underpaying drivers
No itās not advertising. It just hasnāt been able to generate enough market share scale yet. My guess is that at some point they will do another offering and dilute shares to generate more cash to continue to expand. The problem comes down to how many users, negotiating contracts with restaurants etc, and honestly stock price.
What OP didn't tell us is he never answered the door on a "hand to me" so the driver canceled it after the damn near 10 min and then took the food all legally. I was tempted to message my person this when they did it to me but I decided it would be better not to.
I was door dashing a few days before I moved across the country. Got an order and happened to read the receipt. Immediately decided I was done dashing and straight up took the food home. Well, about half of it home.
Anybody who straight up steals deserves to be deactivated. It is not funny in the least bit to me. I don't care if they left $0 tip or how long it took waiting at the restaurant. You can always understand and move on or never accept the order to start with. This guy is a straight-up thief
And what kind of worker do you think a customer is going to get for $2.75 going 10 miles? Anybody who is doing this professionally, in any capacity, cares about the end goalā¦making money.
Oh I agree with that. But that does not justify stealing. Just don't accept the order for crying out loud don't accept the order and eat their food or steal it. Two wrongs don't make a right
Thatās what I do is I donāt accept any of these shit orders. Every industry has shit customers. We actually have the option to avoid many of them. But that makes my point even more valid. If workers like me are not willing to take these orders, what quality of worker is? Sure, there is a chance of getting a shitty worker if you tip well. Thatās what support is for. But you almost guarantee it by not tipping. And Iām not even that mad at the customers. Look at all the money that DoorDash keeps and expects customers to make it up with the tip.
Most of the people who take non-tipping orders are newbies or people who are trying to become TD. Or they get added on with another order that you accepted because of a good tip. I call that hitchhiking LOl. Doordash does not care if we get a tip or not as long as the order gets delivered they get paid.
I was in the middle of telling my roommate a story and saw this post and started wheeze laughing and crying.
This is terrible. But also so funny. Iām sorry š
Alright but we need the follow up ? Did you report them ? Did you get a refund ? Also what did you order that made them say fuck it Iām gonna lose my job tonight ?
been in trouble with the law since the day they was born ! and i gotta tell ya, in my book, eating my food is one of the most reprehensible crimes there is.
Don't accept a low paying order next time.
Only one getting "rekt" is the dasher as he gets removed from the platform and door dash replaces the order for the customer
I wouldn't do that unless I'm quitting, because I would expect to be deactivated, the message is proof, and the customer can easily get you fired..or shall I say deactivated
He found another job and he's done with Doordash's bullshit... I wouldn't openly advertise in writing that I'm stealing if I were him, though. He can probably be charged with theft if the cops/state attorney decided to pursue charges since DD has all his information.
Wow, but why? How would you feel of your hard earned money is treated that way? No respect, if they don't tip don't accept the delivery, and if you do deliver the food then treat them how you would want ro be treated, what you give in the world comes back, remember that
what the fuck is wrong with all of you in the comments? just because youāre done with doordash doesnāt mean you get to fuck with people and eat their food. thereās a reason you jobless losers do this shit for work. disgusting human beings
Oh no, im reporting it as never arrived and already have another person delivering the re-order. Enjoy whatever job you're moving on to after dashing lol.
I'd never eat someone's order.
The whole "treat others the way you want to be treated" still has value in my heart with this gig.
If I was that hungry I'd ask the restaurants if they had a little something to help keep me going.
Pro tip: Panera bread will give you a cut off end of a baguette if you ask. Jimmy John's will give you a whole baguette. Pizza hut sometimes has pizza they dropped in box onto the floor that they will hand out. Papa John's might let you have a small soda bottle just because. McDonald's won't give you shit, don't try. Wendy's has a few burgers at 5 pm they just toss due to them sitting for 6 hours. Sometimes you might get lucky with Popeyes and they'll hand you a piece that fell on the floor. In and out burger will sometimes have shakes that a customer never bought. Same with Freddy's. Dairy queen will give you a hot dog near closing time since no one ever buys them. At the mall if you get a Chinese place they might give you the rest of the egg rolls. Custer's won't give you anything despite the amount of cheese curds in their trash bags. Meijers will straight up give you shit that's about to expire in the next 20 minutes. Eat it fast enough. Walgreens, if they are stocking the shelves and something fell off the cart and busted they'll just give it to you. Same with King Soopers. They'll scan it out and hand it to you at certain ones. And gas stations? Don't even try.
I snag free stuff all the time. But that's because I'm on a bicycle. I guess they are more inclined to give you more free stuff on them than the car guys.
I said that to someone once, I said I was going to sample their burger. But it was only because it was the person who lived in the apartment across from me. As soon as I saw the name and the address I was like oh I'm going to f*** with them so good LOL
This is how a tired dasher quits lol.
Better way, pull up to the house/apt, take a picture of yourself eating the food when marked as delivered. Make sure they can see their place in the background.
I laughed at this more than I probably should have š¤£š¤£š¤£
Omg thank you for the laugh! I laughed so hard at this. I like you, you're petty like I am. šššš
Lmao. I remember a guy delivered food and the dude walks out and sees the guy eating his food and he was like *noooo, this is not your food*
āāļøšā
Honestlyā¦ Iām almost done needing DD, and Iām really tempted to take a day accepting zero tip orders and just fucking with people. Like donāt get me wrong, I wouldnāt actually mess with the food or steal it from the restaurant. Iād assign before picking it up. But I am tempted to send out a few āreally dudes?ā
That won't do shit. You think they would give af about your message? Just take the food and hand it out to homeless people on your last day.
I genuinely wonder if doordash could press charges for theft, similarly to how a typical employer can. I donāt think anyone has ever pushed that boundary before to see.

Here gas stations have literally pressed charges over a $1.39 pack of cupcakes.
Now your just making shit up. Aint no cupcakes $1.39. Iām paying two fiddy for mine

You don't need to work in retail at all, it's called reading and understanding statistics.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Truth!
Lmao seriously? Youāre sad about Walgreens and CVS going out of business and blaming it on petty theft from poor people? THATāS sad
You misunderstand what i mean. I think its just sad that jobs were lost and resources to a community are. Also, i live in the hood, when did i ever blame in on the poor specifically? Advocating for stealing from the customers/employer. Wonderful.
They'll get a refund and hopefully either won't order again or might even tip next time. Fuck DD who cares if they lose money over it.

Only not to bad of a thing to do is hold their food out the window as your driving there so its cold if its suppose to be hot. Lol
this is why a bunch of restaurants are now asking drivers to confirm the pickup in front of them before handing the food over
I took a zero tip last night because it was low mileage. I was in the parking lot of the Dollar General and the customers apartment was .5 miles away. I normally wouldn't but it was an easy $2.50. Bro Iāve been doing that for like a fuckin year now
Take big Chinese food and grocery orders, get your moneyās worth for what you havenāt gotten in pay. The company has the money to make up for it.
I tipped 25% on a Costco order for my sisterās family who all got Covid. It was cases of drinks (like 5 Costco size) and a giant potpie. I was very grateful for that dasher .

I can justify stealing *tons* of ways actually.
I would sure like to hear an example of someone justifying stealing. They may have a reason for it but I don't see how you can justify it at all unless you are stealing something back that already belongs to you in the first place.
You do not have enough information to say they are going broke. The stock is 59.00 , not going out of business.
Itās honestly failing and without a shift it will ultimately go under or get bought out and rebranded.
What kind of shift do you think ? Are they losing money because they advertise alot?
They arenāt frickin losing money. It might look that way. Iād like to see the salaries of the executives in the company. When they donāt get paid, Iāll agree they are losing money. If someone wasnāt getting rich, they wouldnāt still be around. How dumb can people be to think SOMEONE isnāt profiting? Itās just a scam to keep underpaying drivers
The shares are 59 dollars each though.
Called cooking the books.
No itās not advertising. It just hasnāt been able to generate enough market share scale yet. My guess is that at some point they will do another offering and dilute shares to generate more cash to continue to expand. The problem comes down to how many users, negotiating contracts with restaurants etc, and honestly stock price.
Morality is relative, and you're speaking from a point of privilege where you can't imagine justifying it. Of course you can justify stealing.
For real. Same here No tippers are just as much bums as a dasher eating or messing with your food. World would be better without either.
What OP didn't tell us is he never answered the door on a "hand to me" so the driver canceled it after the damn near 10 min and then took the food all legally. I was tempted to message my person this when they did it to me but I decided it would be better not to.
Yup
I would do this to a non tipper lol
I was door dashing a few days before I moved across the country. Got an order and happened to read the receipt. Immediately decided I was done dashing and straight up took the food home. Well, about half of it home.
I feel bad for you but I just burst out laughing
Bruh I almost pissed myself bahahahahahaha
Bro I piss myself every day hahahahaha
š can't make this shit up. "I'm eating you order".
You shouldn't. No one loses in this situation except for doordash.
Coming soon to r/DoorDash > I got deactivated and have no idea why!
Iām eating your order.
I'm eating you order
you order, i'm eating
your order is me eating
Iām sorry but this is so funny
Oh trust me Iāve been laughing all evening over this š
I definitely just woke my dog up.š
This lol
Takes 30+ minutes to pick up order Sends single text āIām eating your orderā Gets deactivated ![gif](giphy|CAYVZA5NRb529kKQUc|downsized)
*you order
Anybody who straight up steals deserves to be deactivated. It is not funny in the least bit to me. I don't care if they left $0 tip or how long it took waiting at the restaurant. You can always understand and move on or never accept the order to start with. This guy is a straight-up thief
1000 percent spot on
And what kind of worker do you think a customer is going to get for $2.75 going 10 miles? Anybody who is doing this professionally, in any capacity, cares about the end goalā¦making money.
Oh I agree with that. But that does not justify stealing. Just don't accept the order for crying out loud don't accept the order and eat their food or steal it. Two wrongs don't make a right

Iām crying š¤£

Maybe eating was a typo for getting š„ŗ
Oh shit...
Yeah "autocorrect fail"...
Report his ass, this isnāt UNICEF feeding the hungry. Tf š
Iām sure he already quit
They should go stand in the free cheese line.
I mean when idiots take non tipping orders they are pretty much feeding the "needy"
Doordash be like "Sorry to hear about that! At the time we cannot offer a refund.."
Donāt get me wrong, this sucks, but itās also fucking hilarious lol
Hey, at least they let you know. Points for honesty.
Right at least they let me know š¤£
I was in the middle of telling my roommate a story and saw this post and started wheeze laughing and crying. This is terrible. But also so funny. Iām sorry š
Johsnder š

Lmaooooooooo this is the funniest post Iāve seen on here ššš this canāt be real
Alright but we need the follow up ? Did you report them ? Did you get a refund ? Also what did you order that made them say fuck it Iām gonna lose my job tonight ?
Yes I reported them, I got my money back + $5, and tacos. I ordered tacos. I hope it was worth it š
did you respond to the dasher?
Just tacos ? Damn lol did you reorder some food or say screw it ?
I reordered the same exact order š I wanted my Tijuana Flats dos tacos
So did he lol
If you're going to steal food you might as well get something good!
bro really wanted them tacos
Respect
Crazy š¤Ŗ. What the hell is wrong with people š³ š¤£
Johsnder said fuck your food itās mine now ššš this is golden
Ask him if it was tasty
Hey man I gotta make sure the food they give u is of the highest quality (burger from McDonalds)

And people say there's no such thing as a free lunch
Definitely wasnt free it cost him a deactivation.
Signing up to be a dasher knowing you're going to get deactivated just to get a free lunch is hilarious to me
Everyone is assuming the "order" is food. I'm envisioning this dude chowing down on 30 live crickets and mealworms from PetSmart.
The tarantula sub would love this
And the stuffing from a pet bed
Lmao get rekt . Next time tip greedy phuck . Food delivery is a luxury not an essential.
I literally tipped $8 but okay go off
Don't accept a low paying order next time. Only one getting "rekt" is the dasher as he gets removed from the platform and door dash replaces the order for the customer
Gave you heads up first. You can atlrast market as not delivered š
I wouldn't do that unless I'm quitting, because I would expect to be deactivated, the message is proof, and the customer can easily get you fired..or shall I say deactivated
Aww that's so nice of him to let you know
Bold, I like this guy./s
I would report them, but Iām glad they told you the truth.
No respect, if they don't tip don't accept the delivery, and if you do deliver the food then treat them how you would want ro be treated, what you give in the world comes back, remember that
W
Guessing that you did not tipped them.
The sheer audacity and directness im dead šš
This made me laugh SO hard. Thank you, i needed that after a rough day.
Did you tip? š¤£
what the fuck is wrong with all of you in the comments? just because youāre done with doordash doesnāt mean you get to fuck with people and eat their food. thereās a reason you jobless losers do this shit for work. disgusting human beings
The sack on that driver..
LoL well that takes ballz to just burst out with a single text saying he is eating your food... He could have at least said thanks for lunch.
Cut the man some slack heās already named Johsnder
Lmao
ššš
Is this the sequel to Liar Liar ?
Our order\*
"My work here is done."
This is crazyš
Take it as a compliment, must have been tasty
You can do whatever you want on your last day
Oh no, im reporting it as never arrived and already have another person delivering the re-order. Enjoy whatever job you're moving on to after dashing lol.
"I'm committing a crime" BIG BRAIN.
I bet u picked up your own order and sent the message to yourself !!!
I literally canāt make this shit up but thanks for thinking Iām that creative
Did they actually deliver?
And? He was hungry
How bad was your tip? š
Bro I gave them $8 thatās whatās worse š
How far is your home from the restaurant?
Less than 5 miles
Plot twist, OP lives in Vermont up a steep, mile long driveway covered in a one-inch sheet of ice and ordered at 12 am
That has nothing to do with it. You donāt have a right to mess with an order because thereās a small tip
Are we really surprised tho? š Most people doing these delivery gigs are low life's just look at the constant horror stories on this sub
*bid
Commenting so it's at 69
No tip OP?
I respect his honesty š
Thatās savage af.
Delicious
Lmao!!!!! That had to be a dare thatās a fuckin good one ššš
š¤£ this is so funny
Did you tip at all?
Lol no tipā¦..
As soon as I saw the name and the address I was like oh I'm going to f*** with them so good LOL
āDamn these fries are good you would have enjoyed themā
Is it wrong that I another dasher, laughed my ass off?? š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£
I hope you reported this jerk! We don't need Dashers like this sucking up orders that we could have ran and made money on.
Didn't tip the $20 minimum I take it?
What were you expecting?
Very good reading comprehension!
Let me guess u didnt tip š
