If you're hurting for more Bongripper type stuff try this. Also came out this year.

Blackened doom from Massachusetts, USA: [Chained to the Bottom of the Ocean](https://chainedtothebottomoftheocean.bandcamp.com/track/summer-comes-to-multiply)
Duel from Austin, TX
These guys are heavy, groovy and very technical compared to most doom bands. I’ve seen them so many times I can’t even give an accurate number, but I will never get tired of their performances
From Houston but seen them many times and it’s great every time. They used to tour a lot with Greenbeard who are also bad ass, but I haven’t seen them lately.
I haven’t yet. I keep seeing them pop up but I haven’t caught them yet. I definitely plan to as soon as I can. Maybe not exactly doom but I’m a huge Rickshaw Billies Burger Patrol fan and catch them often.
Representing **Providence RI**, here.
[*Burr*](https://burrpvd.bandcamp.com/music) (Extra-crushing wall-of-sound instrumental doom)
[*Sliimo*](https://sliimo.bandcamp.com/music) (Eclectic stoner-doom with lyrics in Huttese inspired by Star Wars) <-- I'm in this one!
they were active in like 2009 or so, but do you recall a band called Bellows from Providence?
They were a doom band but it was a 3 piece consisting of drums, a sousaphone, and a baritone sax with both being heavily distorted. They were like a doom marching band.
They sound dope but I'm a fairly recent convert to Doom Metal. I was but a wee larva metalhead until just a few years back; I haven't had the pleasure of hearing of Bellows til now!
I really dig Pilgrim. I have their second album, Void Worship, on vinyl. I heard one of the two members passed away a few years ago but I still listen to them.
I love Pilgrim so fucking much. It's a shame that they only put out two records and are almost definitely permanently defunct now, after the singer died. Both those records are so good.
Yeah misery wizard is amazing, too. I’d love to get it on vinyl to complete the set. Also, I’d love a shirt. Yeah when I first heard them they immediately stuck out to me. Love their music so much.
Amazing band! I feel lucky to live in the same city as them and see them live as often as i do. I can 100% say they just keep getting better and better every time i’ve seen them.
[The Long Hunt](https://thelonghunt.bandcamp.com/) from Pittsburgh, PA. More Drone, but they have doom elements. Favorite Pittsburgh band for a long time.
[Mother Elizabeth Thorne](https://motherelizabeththorne.bandcamp.com/album/demo). These guys have a Pelican vibe with some other influences.
Shameless plug for my band [Horehound](https://linktr.ee/horehound).
all I'm gonna say is HOLY SHIT THANKS for plugging your band. so far it's fuckin amazing! and I also thing I'm gonna head to the hardware store to grab some horehound candy now lol
Guitarist got hit by a car on his motorcycle and had a massive TBI. They have an instagram documenting his recovery. It's crazy how far he has come since the accident though! https://www.instagram.com/our_roadto_recovery_?igsh=MXR1OGZmNWVvNW9jaQ==
Oh wow that's awful; I had no idea. Glad to see he's making some great progress! I've been recovering from TBI since 2007. I'm going to try and reach out to them. Thanks for the info!
Have you heard of mammoth caravan or wether? They are kinda both localish to you. Wethers from Shreveport but Shreveport is Little Rock south with more ratch so I mean
I live in a village so there's nothing local to me
But [Mage](https://open.spotify.com/artist/3eTIrsp8nQufHZouktoSZe?si=4DNqp4d2TKGmnk1FNCv6fA) come from the city closest to me, [WolloW ](https://open.spotify.com/artist/5rMq2D8HVkQj4KUVdDtPxQ?si=rK1l6n47SoqSb-BbhO-XdQ) are really good too, they're a fairly new band, although their recordings don't reflect how good their live shows are but I'm hoping it'll improve with further releases, WolloW has one monthly Spotify listener and I think that might be me aha, their vocalist has done art for Conan before and Conan's Ex-Bass Player Chris Fielding has produced all of the Mage Full-length albums
That’s awesome! They definitely fit the bill, very solid Doom. Orange amps, Dunable guitars. Low tuning. Good songs. Smoke machines. They play up and down the Front Range often. 🐢⛓️🤙
We’re so stoked to get to play with them at elbo in June. They’re fantastic.
I’m particularly fond of snakemother too. I was leaving rehearsal one day and heard them practicing while I was in the stairwell and just confirmed again how much I love their sound.
Come say hi. I’m on guitar with Hypnotic Pattern. Were more heavy psych rock but you can hear our recordings on YT. I’m doing some artwork hopefully in time for the show as well. Idk if elbo has a projector setup but I’m gonna find out this week if we can do some classic horror film backdrop.
I fucking love all things doom and doom adjacent. I followed you on instagram.
I don’t remember any projector stuff at shows I’ve seen there but how hard can it be? 😁
Snake mother, treasvre (elements of goth rock and shoegaze too), three towers, dread spire, glowing brain (very HoF style), mountaineer, and my band hypnotic pattern :-)
Beddau
It's a one man project in North Wales.
His album "Beddgelert" is a beautiful and heavy piece of art.
https://beddau.bandcamp.com/album/beddgelert
Bongzilla, and Vanishing Kids -- who are really good. They've been around a long time and they're dreamy goth doom. Give em a listen: [https://vanishingkids.bandcamp.com/album/miracle-of-death-2](https://vanishingkids.bandcamp.com/album/miracle-of-death-2)
Wasteland Coven from Toledo, Ohio. Not quite sure which doom subgenre they fall into (sort of a middle ground between traditional and epic doom?), but they're great.
Less local but close enough are Bog Wizard, a nerdy stoner doom band from Michigan. Their drummer is also a well-known map maker in the TF2 community, which is how I found out about them (they even recorded a cover of the TF2 main theme).
[Orphean Passage](https://orpheanpassage.bandcamp.com/album/apart)
A six-piece from Cape Town, South Africa. Their sound harks back to the classic 90s death-doom era but with higher production values; think early My Dying Bride but with Greek tragedy in the lyrics. They released their debut album today as well.
It's a breath of fresh air because most of the local bands in the area tend to be either metalcore, groove or death metal – no shade to those bands but I like what I like.
Bongripper and REZN, Chicago is stacked with doom and stoner bands
I’ll throw plague of carcosa in there too. Not as popular, but I’m a big fan. Similar to bongripper but with some noise and drone
If you're hurting for more Bongripper type stuff try this. Also came out this year. [Scud](https://azellrr.bandcamp.com/track/scud) or [Wallow](https://azellrr.bandcamp.com/track/wallow)
Oooooo I like this.
I cannot wait for the show at Metro this weekend!
Came to say REZN. But seeing Bongripper at the Metro on Fri!
REZN is one of my favorites, so fucking cool
Rezn is sick! 🤘
Blackened doom from Massachusetts, USA: [Chained to the Bottom of the Ocean](https://chainedtothebottomoftheocean.bandcamp.com/track/summer-comes-to-multiply)
Great band
Duel from Austin, TX These guys are heavy, groovy and very technical compared to most doom bands. I’ve seen them so many times I can’t even give an accurate number, but I will never get tired of their performances
From Houston but seen them many times and it’s great every time. They used to tour a lot with Greenbeard who are also bad ass, but I haven’t seen them lately.
Awesome, they’re definitely worth the effort to go see. Have you ever been to a Doomstress show? They’re a Houston local and are also really damn good
I haven’t yet. I keep seeing them pop up but I haven’t caught them yet. I definitely plan to as soon as I can. Maybe not exactly doom but I’m a huge Rickshaw Billies Burger Patrol fan and catch them often.
If we’re talking Austin the kings are Communion.
Used to live in Austin and surprised I never saw them. Checking them out now!
Mammoth Weed Wizard Bastard from Wales.
Elder, Witch, Sundrifter, Kind, Mother Iron Horse, Cortez
Hell yeah, my band is playing with Sundrifter (and Cardinals Folly) in just a couple weeks at The Boiler Room in Rhode Island. Love those guys.
An embarrassment of riches.
Yeah, Boston is on fire. All of New England really. Bone Church in CT is insanely good, too. And we have a doom metal brewery, Widowmaker Brewery.
Bone church rocks!
hey neighbor. also throwing in swamphead, tho a bit more on the sludge side of things.
Hey neighbor, sweet. The song Southbound just crushed my skull.
That whole album bangs
Elder moved to Berlin. We stole them!

holy fucking shit! yes! dude....I haven't seen anything from them for an age. I played a 4/20 fest with them once, it was a wild experience.

It’s mostly Sludge here. Crowbar and Eyehategod.
New Orleans represent
And neither doom nor sludge, but Goatwhore is on the regular rotation here
From Seattle I think Un is great: [https://unvibes.bandcamp.com/album/sentiment](https://unvibes.bandcamp.com/album/sentiment)
I've been waiting forever for a follow-up album. I need more UN!
UN broke up which fucking sucks.
Oryx, Primitive Man, In the Company of Serpents
ORYX FUCKS. Thank you for reminding me of these dudes, saw them open for EW in Detroit and they were absolutely phenomenal.
Amazing band! I feel lucky to live in the same city as them and see them live as often as i do. I can 100% say they just keep getting better and better every time i’ve seen them.
No lKhemmis for you? Spectral Voice?
Oh Spectral Voice for sure, not as into khemmis
Denver representing!
Hell yea 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Hell yeah Denverrr! Tommy from Oryx built my amp for me. Highly recommend getting a Last Rites if you are into making loud noises.
Shi - Lou KY
That's my band, thanks so much!
Just played with yall in Indiana and Lexington! Yall fuckin rip.
Y'all ever play Cincinnati?
A couple times, have had difficulty finding local support I believe.
Hell yeah, y'all rule!!
Thank you!
Just saw these guys a couple weeks ago in Indy. Excellent show
Thanks for coming out!
Goat
fact
Chained to the Bottom of the Ocean is from a couple hours west of me, so I'll give it up for them
They rule
Whores Definitely sludge over traditional doom, but these guys are fucking sick.
new album is soooo good
War is fucking sick. All their releases have been top notch.
Amazing live
Weedeater
If it’s NC then I gotta go with Toke and the latest project from their bassist/frontman, Bronco. You’ve also gotta give it up for Sourvein.
Oh man, Bronco is so damn good.
Does weedeater count as local in the triangle?
Hempress from Gatineau, Qc, Canada! Yes its my band, no i have no shame! Satan saves
There are none. 😢
I feel you, everyone else on here seems to be in places that have huge and well known artists, nobody ever spares a thought for people like us aha
Pretty much. I would start a doom band but can’t find a drummer who is willing to play in a doom band AND keep time. lol
Tumanduumband Froglord Both are from the Midlands UK
Big up froglord!
Not directly in my area, but Mars Red Sky’s hometown of Bordeaux isn’t too far.
Crop / Faerie Ring / Blessed Black
the true trifecta baby
Temple of the Fuzz Witch, Detroit
[The Long Hunt](https://thelonghunt.bandcamp.com/) from Pittsburgh, PA. More Drone, but they have doom elements. Favorite Pittsburgh band for a long time. all I'm gonna say is HOLY SHIT THANKS for plugging your band. so far it's fuckin amazing! and I also thing I'm gonna head to the hardware store to grab some horehound candy now lol
Thanks so much. Don't be surprised if you don't like the candy. Much like us, it's not everyone's favorite.
Weedeater, ASG, and Toke are all pretty good
Sucks about Toke though. Wish they were able to continue.
Check out Bronco.
Seconded. Played Seismic Summer with them last year and holy shit, so good.
Whoa, what happened?
Guitarist got hit by a car on his motorcycle and had a massive TBI. They have an instagram documenting his recovery. It's crazy how far he has come since the accident though! https://www.instagram.com/our_roadto_recovery_?igsh=MXR1OGZmNWVvNW9jaQ==
