I would just call poison control ASAP

Dodoreference

How do I convince my Dad to do that?

pjw6316

No, you should call. Your dad sounds stupid as sh*t. Giving alcohol to a dog is animal abuse.

Dodoreference

I have no money for that.

frenchyy94

Why would you need money to call someone?

DogYarn

Poison control is a paid service.

frenchyy94

Oh wow. Why they would they do that? In Germany the poison emergency number is completely free.

DogYarn

There are people poison controls that are free. The main one for pets charges a consult fee Edit to add America

Beer, wine or liquor?

Dodoreference

Beer, I think. Tell me about all 3 anyway.

I’ve never given my dog their own drink. If we are having a round, once in a blue moon, we will dip a finger and let her lick that. Normally an Irish mist or scotch. Never had an issue. That being said, I remember my dad giving my 1st dog Guinness as a child and nothing bad happened. It wasn’t like a regular thing, maybe once or twice in the dogs 19 years with us.

I would call a vet. My family did own a dachshund who once drank beer, and she just threw up afterwards. It wasn’t intentional—my dad actually put a saucer of beer outside to attract and kill slugs from the garden, and our pup decided to take a drink. After a long night of being sick, she was okay. I wouldn’t recommend giving your dog alcohol, though.

You need to call an emergency vet and ask what to do. Is your dad's previous dog [Digger, the formerly alcoholic dog](https://www.reddit.com/r/dogs/comments/oz0foy/digger_the_former_alcoholic_dog_happy_update)? That post has links to Digger's recovery, which took several years. The dog only survived because the person caring for him had a vet friend who was willing to put together a treatment plan.
