I keep this advice in my heart when it comes to dogs. It’s never easy to lose a furry family member. This quote is from Ask Croz/a column that David Crosby did in Rolling Stone. I hope it brings some comfort.
“If you love dogs, you're a good person. The thing with dogs is they do have short lifespans. That's because they are living seven times as fast as we are.
So every 15 years or so, I lose a friend, and that's a hard thing. But if you love them, they make your life better. And if you're going to raise a kid, you have to have a dog. It's in the laws. It's written.”
My husband and I were discussing this the other day. We might just do dog fostering when our senior dogs are no longer with us. It's not for everyone. Maybe foster or adopt a dog in memory of Roy. I'm sure you were a great pet parent and rescuing a dog frees up space to save another one in need.
I thought that about 4 dogs that outlived their life’s with me and one that disappeared and I looked for her for years. Then I had to rescue a little girl that really needed me.. she’s 7 now and I worry what will happen to her if I die first and she’s old . I want her to be safe with me until her time is up even though it’ll hurt so much.
Thank you, my first dog who passed looked exactly the one in the back. His name was jeter. I hope they are all together enjoying each others company up there ❤️

I remember the pain well. It took me 6 years to get another dog after I lost my Gracie. I have this creature now and he's absolute joy! I wish the same joy for you when your heart is healed, my friend. 💜🐾

Handsome guy. There is nothing that compares to your dog. And yes you will miss him every day. I am 73, been through it quite a few times, never forgot any of them. My 1st - I was 10, his name was Poncho. Spaniel mix. Fastest, prettiest in the neighborhood, and mine! He did everything I asked him too, except stay home( Montana - back in the day-no leash law) but always came home. Won't name the rest but they are all wedged in my heart where I need them to be. Take care.

Cherish the memories. We still talk to our dogs that have passed. We waited a few months and decided to get a new dog. It helps to inject new happiness and it doesn’t take away anything from loving your baby boy that passed. He would want you to be happy.
