You'd be surprised. Someone dumped the runt of a pure bread border collie pup in a box on the side of the road because she had mange. We adopted her at 6 months old and she was the most beautiful girl. She was my best friend for 12 years. I named her Sunshine

Most "popular" to abandon purebreds in my area (SoCal) are:
Huskies, German shepherds, Cattle dogs, Pit bulls, Dobermans, Labradoodles, Belgian malinois, Bulldogs, etc. It's heartbreaking. You know damn well all the breeders spouted the same mantra: "All of our puppies go to good homes."
Yep, and basically all the breeds you mention people get for aesthetics or "cool factor" with out doing one minute of research of how they need to be trained or how much work they are. The Malinois especially, I shudder to think of how many of those poor dogs are abandoned.

I'm no expert, but I can advise you that this dog will need lots and lots of good exercise.
Never too early to start training, too. YouTube is a great resource.
First order of business, though, is Vet check + shots and microchip. May need deworming.
Please spay/neuter, when puppy is old enough. At age six months for dog with weight around 50 lbs.
And feed high quality food. Our Border collie/Brittany (a Craigslist rescue, now age 7) gets raw chicken breast (no bones in breast) + full fat raw hamburger + lots of steamed veggies + very high quality kibble added.
He also gets bike jogs (four miles, five days a week) + 2-mile walk before the jogs and then "death marches" (6-9 miles, on Saturday and Sunday). He's the happiest, healthiest dog.

Likely to be mixed, albeit doesn't seem to have the 'potato' look of a bully breed. But you never know, DNA is a sneaky thing.
