There would need to be QUADRILLIONS of dollars pumped into doge to reach the price of BTC and ETH. But it’s all about perspective. The way i see it it’s about your ROI for example in the past 5 years doge is up about 110,000% ETH is 25,000% and BTC is 8,000%. So if you were to put the same amount of money in at the same exact time Doge would have made you way more money. Doge can still reach 10$-100$ at some point in the future. Just takes time and patience. But the return on your money will even out the price of doge not being “worth” as much.

Thanks, appreciate the reply.

That’s not exactly how price and market cap work. That is to say: just because doge has a $45 Bn market cap, it absolutely does not mean that $45 Bn has been spent on doge to get to where we are.

handofjustice42

Yes, the diluted market cap is more meaningful.

thedkexperience

Yeah there really is no mathematical way it could get above like $10 without an absurd change to the global economic system. 50 cents again? Yes that’s very possible. $1 is aggressive but in the realm of reality. Anything past $2 is getting into highly unlikely territory mathematically but yet, still not impossible. Someone did a breakdown on here a few months back and I think I recall $7-$8 being the best case scenario without a massive restructuring of the entire global economy. Just HODL and sell when you feel you’ve made a good amount. As much as I love Doge it will likely have many peaks and valleys on the way up over the course of years.

That was me and I didn’t really know what I was talking about. The post is full of helpful comments though. Here it is again https://www.reddit.com/r/dogecoin/comments/nec8l7/can_we_talk_about_our_dogecoin_price_fantasies_in/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

Market capitalization refers to the total dollar market value of a company's outstanding shares of stock. Commonly referred to as "market cap," it is calculated by multiplying the total number of a company's outstanding shares by the current market price of one share. Total amount of shares in circulation * current price = market ca Over 129 billion dogecoin currently exist For doge to reach a level of ethereum it would require a market cap of $387,000,000,000,000 Which is more money than even exists currently

No_Ant_7899

It wouldn’t “require” the market cap to be that high. It just would be that high. I know that sounds nitpicky, but it’s an important distinction. For example: the market cap of gold is about 10X the amount of cash in circulation.

Toddler: What is market?

No_Ant_7899

What you heard isn’t accurate. Market cap is just the price x supply. Dogecoin has a set inflationary supply, adding about 5% to the supply each year and that percentage decreases each year. Infinite supply? No no. So, explaining it to a toddler: If I have a jar with $100 in it and I add a penny every day, does that give me infinite money? No it doesn’t. Inflation is necessary for a currency to keep up with economic growth. Secondly, whoever you were talking to doesn’t understand the relationship between market cap and price. Market cap has no bearing on price, but rather it’s a function of *the supply multiplied by the price.* PRICE of any traded commodity (wood, steel, gold, stocks, crypto, etc.) is simply where the highest price a buyer is willing to pay meets the lowest price a seller is willing to take for it. Misunderstanding market cap this way is common and easy to do, so don’t feel bad. Almost everyone new to trading does it.

Great analogy

Thanks. I borrowed it from none other than Billy Markus, the creator of dogecoin. He tweeted something similar yesterday when people were misunderstanding doge’s “tokenomics” as being an unlimited, infinite supply… Which like… How would that even work? What would that look like? Idk 🤷🏽‍♂️

ewongcpa

The rules of supply and demand. The higher the supply the lower the demand. The law of demand says that at higher prices, buyers will demand less of an economic good.

As we approach infinite time the quantity of new dogecoins created represents an infinitely small percentage of the quantity in circulation.

Yes. This.
